After they fix the FPS drops and crashes, I'm waiting as PR something like " We did our best to fix the PC issues and answer the legimitate concerns of our beloved PC community. However we do consider that the UI and control works correctly and in no way prevent enjoying the game. That's how we meant the game to be played, any further complaint is a direct attack against our artistic integrity".

Agreed, there's no place for harassment, however, you guys could have mitigated a lot of this by simply coming on the forums and talking to your customers. It's called public relations, its called customer service, and its not like you can't moderate if people get out of hand. The game has been out a week and nary a comment from you guys until now. I don't care if you gotta draw straws but get some people on here and interact with these forums. Spend a couple of weeks, I know its a pain but we all have to do things we don't like. It would go a long way to fostering a good relationship with your fans and also reduce some of the white noise. At the end of the day we're the ones that pay your bills so show us some love will ya?

Time spent on the forums take time away from actually programming. Do you want the devs to hug you and tell you it'll be okay, or do you want them to work?

This is a good point, but there is the matter of the 'kind' of feedback on social media that crosses the line which is unnecessary and not productive for anyone.

Yes, if there are claims made that you want to challenge, do it, but be smart, and use the logic already in place to question what's important.

I believe the official statement regarding this feedback was kicked of by the suggestion to ask whether a statement was intended to be sarcastic. While not a particularly well voiced feedback, it's miles from crossing any lines of normal communication, giving room to the speculation that the entire "leave the people behind the game alone"-debate was started to prevent feedback from leaking into channels difficulty to control.

I think it's time to stop releasing broken and unfinished products and then being like "we'll fix it with future patches" or even pretending that nothing is happening.

I won't mind at all if the game gets its release date pushed further so I can receive a polished and finished product. You know, few years back without all this hotfix and instant patching technology game devs actually took care of what they are releasing to make sure the player gets a stable and finished game in the box and won't be forced to download patches and extra content to play it.

Yea, clearly he was taking it to the next step and advising against anything inappropriate.  I don't think Pen N Paper was even suggesting anything more than a search for information from somebody in the unique position as Mr Muzyka

But are they also so difficult to identify? I mean some non-programming types (i.e. simple players) have identified boatloads of trouble from CTD to music not playing to possible design decision (Tac Cam).... Is it so difficult to identify what they are working to solve? What is not intended to be solved? To give a straight honest answer?  Is that part of what you are saying in your criticism?

So many concerns, to quote another poster here. Where is Bioware starting to fix this PC port to console back to PC?

Not to defend them, exactly, (and this has ZERO to do with the design discussion, just the bugs/glitches/etc.) but identifying a problem and identifying the CAUSE of a problem are often two different things. Sometimes it's easy. Sometimes it's harder to track down, especially when it's not affecting every single player. I've heard devs on other games state that in trying to fix one bug, it broke something else. It's not always simple.

It's difficult to have patience, however, when you've paid good money for something and just want to play the game already. It's also frustrating when there's so little communication. The Sims team finally learned that lesson. The launch of Sims 4 was not easy, the player base was angry and fed up, they've earned a lot of good will for not just themselves but the game by doing one very simple thing. Communicating

By that same token, however, they won't give people an estimate for a patch release. Doing so will spell disaster every time unless they are early with their estimate. An estimate is NOT a promise but, without fail, people will pull out the pitchforks if they are so much as one minute past the estimated delivery time. What WOULD be good to hear is what they are attempting to address. Not vague concepts but specifics. I won't hold my breath for that, however.

Do you think I'm suggesting the whole dev team come on here? Are you suggesting that its not possible that they spare a body or two?

I believe they do have some community managers. or something... I doubt very much those people do any programming

It's their usual MO. Black-out and if the crowd becomes too agitated, throw a bone and say that you understand and are working hard on the issue. It costs nothing and people have a post to answer to and the opportunity to vent a little. They're buying time, don't expect anything until they get the patch out. I expect it this weekend.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that it be the programmers who interact with the community. The community managers aren't doing any of the coding, and I'm pretty sure the very definition of their job is to interact with us.

Ok, so there are issues. Issues that many people on this thread have decided to tell the dev team, either with kindness or rudeness. But one thing is certain, being left in the dark on patch notes is in most respects not right in today's times.

I for one am glad that these issues are being thoroughly read into and checked in the Frostbite 3 engine. But i have a question, if Battlefield 4 uses the same engine and had some of the same issues at launch, but then did there best to fix the games issues a year later and informing and allowing people to see what was being fixed before it got finalized. What does that say about Bioware?

Does it say "our engine is too complex so we cant give any details on the fix because it was lucky we even managed to get stuff in this blody engine working" (cough) them talking about in the PC trailer that the engine wouldn't support horses or four legged creatures as a prime example.

Or does it say "we honestly cant figure out whats wrong in some areas"

Either case, the PC and Console community should be informed of developing fixes for a game, even if such fixes dont make it into the final version (cough again) misleading PC players with unusable tactical camera mode and the obvious Console inventory and gameplay format - insert A button in 2013 demo -

I think I remember reading there was a certain amount of difficulty involved in getting engine specific support because Bioware had to go to DICE to access some of the resources needed.

I'm sure there is a system in place to streamline the process, but it's possible to identify that as a potential cause for the lack of intelligent design we see in the current release of the game (no side mouse buttons for example)

I was going to tear into some of the ridiculous assumptions and nonsense in this thread, but I lost my motivation.  Some people just need to realize design changes won't always make you happy, but that doesn't mean they're bugs.  And, some of these technical issues are unfortunately just the downside of the so-called "master race".  PC gaming is great...when it works.  The biggest negative is that there are so many variables it is often difficult to guarantee stability. Which isn't to say there aren't a lot of issues that need to be address.  Just, PC gaming is a pain sometimes.

My own experience:

The game is running great on my PC.  Not stellar performance, but my specs aren't stellar so it's not expected.  I get solid 30+ fps on mostly ultra settings.  No complaints, performance-wise.  I did have some issues before updating to the beta AMD drivers as recommended.

No crashes yet.

I have hit a few bugs.  The only one that was really annoying was my qunari being "wrong" and not being able to equip qunari facepaint.  I had to re-roll a couple times before it worked right.  Now it seems ok.  Bioware knows of the issue.  Other bugs have been mostly cosmetic.

Like most m+k player, I would love to see a walk toggle and some changes to the tactical cam control design.  The main thing that makes tactical mostly unusable for me is that it focuses the camera on characters when I select them.  It takes too much time to assign orders this way.  It would also be nice if the camera zoomed out a bit more.  A few other things have been mentioned that would be nice. Other than that, the new controls were initially a bit of a challenge because they were different, but I adjusted to them and am mostly fine with them. I certainly don't think it's the disaster some people make it out to be. I really think if some people spent their time learning the new aspects of the game instead of complaining, they'd have a lot more fun.
I'd love to see a few m+k tweaks, but it's hardly a gamebreaker.  I'm loving the game so far.

Tactical view force-centering when switching party members is a bug and will be addressed in the next patch. Continuing to monitor feedback.

what? I... I mean... how.... WHAT!?!??!?!

DID NOBODY PLAYTEST THIS ****** GAME ON PC!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????

HOW could this slip past the beta-testers and QA? THIS IS ESSENTIAL! If I were the boss at bioware somebody would lose his job right about now!

Ok, I really don't want to appear wierd or pretentous quoting myself here, but this is so mind boggling for me that I have to expand on that, this time no curse words and with a clearer mind.

This is and acknoledgement of guilt! In the way he could have also said:" yeah we lied to your face without second thought."

Or do are you really trying to tell me that a company that "from pc for pc bla bla" has developers that tested their fine tuning of the boss fights in nightmare mode with keyboard and mouse to make sure they work and are beatable and either:

a )  NEVER used tactical mode for that (meaning the fights are too easy) or

b )  didn't notice that huge obvious flaw the community spotted within minutes of playing the game?

No not gonna happen. No programmer working on a AAA game and testing his implementions with keyboard and mouse would overlook that.

You can't even tell me "sorry we shipped a wrong buggy version" because that ship has sailed. That would have been fixed within hours of the release.

I don't want to insult any programmers here, again we were the ones insulted by being lied to our faces.

Just wanted to point that out VERY clearly!

They had time to take away from coding the game correctly to shoot a promo video full of BS and straight up lies, so sure, why not?

edit:  I'm actually enjoying the game, and would have no issues with the bugs and such if it weren't for the lying.  I loved Skyrim and that game was just a mass of bugs.  It's the to your face lying that I can't stand.  Is it really so much to ask for some honesty?  I would have bought the game to begin with because its fun.  Now I wish I hadn't, not because its a bad game by any stretch, but out of spite for the obvious lying.  And for that I blame EA, and not Bioware.

Maybe you should have worked on these things before the game was released.

When something like this happens, it has a story.

A story untold.

Think about it for awhile. What's the weirdest thing about this? - The fact that we do not have any damage control. Not a wisp. Nothing.

Why not? I'm just guessing of course, but I'm betting the same reason as why this happened at all, in the first place. EA company culture.

There is something seriously wrong with EA. Have been for decades.

Look at this case again, for instance. What can possibly be the immediate reason there is no damage control?

I'd suggest that there is no one who feels empowered to do that. No one who dares. No one who dares promise anything, because no one knows what he can promise. And on top of that probably standing PR rules not to say anything, or not to engage a hostile community.

...And on the other end, company leadership, no one who feels he should be bothered. The studio did get their budget of zots - money, time and people - ,didn't they? It's their deal. Their responsibility but not in their power.

Personally, I find it all sickening. The studio did their best, tried to make the best in many difficult choices, and made the best game they could. So all things did not click - they rarely do - and in the end they ran out of allocated zots, and time. But they did make the basis for a great game. I have not yet played it, so why do I say that? Because some people I trust very much and know I can trust on this, say so.

It may not be exactly the game we wanted. I'm not totally surprised. It's been clear for a long time that they weren't making a sequel to DA:O. But I intend to get it and play it. What now? Most of the bugs will be fixed eventually, certainly the most serious. I don't know why some decide to doubt that. Also, it would be great if the M&KB interface is improved. I'm pretty convinced they will try hard. As hard as EA will let them, in the end. Get a refund now and have the option to re-purchase later, if you're too unhappy.

As for the claimed 'lies', go back to that video and study it carefully. They're all set and posed in the same environment. Probably dragged there by EA's advertisers (I refuse to call them marketing) to hype the PC version. I wouldn't say they lie. But EA advertisers definitely need to loose their illusion that they're targeting mindless, easily manipulated 14-year olds. I see Mike, Elisabeth and Aaryn mainly as victims in this. Listen to Mike, does he lie? No. He's saying that they originally created DA on the PC (true), then he says "and we kinda  kept that legacy", and to me he clearly seems uncomfortable when he says that. His later quotes are then taken out of their context, and he is actually addressing gamers and the game in general, not the PC community as the video seem to suggest. Elizabeth is innocent by virtue of cluelessness. She believes the things she says are true. She, herself, was probably raised on the console, so lacks perspective. Aaryn, finally, doesn't really say anything. His comments, just like most of what Mike says, are just edited into an advertising video that tries to put a positive spin DA:I PC version.

Finally, they really did a PC version that, except for the UI, is more fullblown than most. I'm of course speaking of the environment details, graphics, for extreme hardware.
