SkyUI 5.0 is/will be behind a paywall on Steam I've heard, author was getting slated for this. However, SkyUI 4.1 which has been in use for past couple of years is still free on Nexus.
Fingers crossed for SKSE
My son just ran me through Path of Exile. OMG.
The Skill/Talent structure is enormous. Put's anything that Bioware have ever envisaged in the shade.
I advise any gamer to inspect it. The site has tons of info and there are stacks on Youtube.
It is free and microtransactions not necessary.
Developers are in New Zealand.
Check it out and stop the weeping over Bioware's betrayal.
I have to say goodbye here. Been fun but life moves on and it was obvious from day one that this mess was going to be swept under the carpet. In principle I would like to post once per day just to keep making a noise but after a while one knows that one is shouting into the void.
Good to meet some of you...I wish you well in the good fight should you choose to keep fighting it.
I will be playing TW3 and PoE as therapy after this harrowing ordeal ![]()
I will leave a quick comment:
There is a certain section of society that has always existed that thinks it knows better than anyone else how things should be. Any opposition to their way of thinking is met with violence. Violence can be direct physical or verbal and may include thousands of forum posts shouting down opposition. This section of society have always been called fascists.
Today they have cleverly re-branded themselves as liberals. However their particular brand of freedom is very limited. You are free to have a different opinion only in so far as your opinion must be a shade of the same colour. Any actual differing opinion is met with calls for re-education and if that does not work violence. This kind of thinking has led to the camps in Europe and all the most grotesque periods and actions in human history.
This kind of fascism may be carefully disguised with a passive aggressive style and reasonable sounding argument but it is what it is and becomes clear quite quickly. I would heartily recommend in the forum environment that this kind of person be met with a wall of silence and the simple "do not feed the troll", be not only quoted but followed strictly. The troll after all only thrives on interaction...if there is none their censure and posturing become null and void.
BioWere died with DAO...mourn them and move on would be my advice.
As JPR would say...over and out!

This is a very good variant

My personal favourite is:
This and Inquisition was the reason i stopped subscribing. One of the reasons turned out invalid... Btw what he is talking about (in this one
) is true to Inquisition too. These cheap facebook games are finding their ways into even the highest budget games. And even Pillars of Eternity has it, one very big minus.

Give me click-to-move/interact/attack and no matter what other issues there are (poorly designed inventory screen/lack of quickslots/crafting banality/etc) then I will at least be able to play the flippin' game. I'm quite sure that the characters and story will carry me over whatever other rough patches exists. I'm really pretty undemanding as a player... except about the one issue of using the mouse.

fixed that for ya.
Steam pulled the plug. Now that's having balls to admit, "Okay... I screwed up and it's not working." The backlash was significant. That's a win for the gaming community. I have a little more respect for Steam right now.
<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>
I think the backlash was the result of two items:
1, The disproportional payout of 75% to the companies and 25% to the modders.
2. The fact that some modders would get paid a higher amount than their own internal ones....Oooops... this does not go over well I tell you.
A possible third item is the asinine decision to go after Skyrim mods... mods that have been there for so long it became an "entitlement". The right approach, to me, it to go after a new /recent IP, where there is "less gamer investment".
Handled correctly, this announcement was a win-win-win for modders, gamers and companies.
The donate button on Nexus works just as well if you want to contribute to the modders. Trying to capitalise financially on the modding community is a really messed up move by Valve. 75 to 25 is just too much, if anything it should be the other way around.
Taleworlds actually took a modding team under its wing to release its latest DLC expansion for Warband, that's a different thing. CA took several modders under its wing as well. Valve's approach so far has been just greed.

OK, I'm installing the game and will try it out.
BUT... why do I feel I need to attend a LAW class or two after reading the UI ?
I only wish I had read the Metacritic users reviews before being this.
I would not feel this dissapointed.
When you don't play the game, there is always that hope that maybe it's actually better than they say, or that some patch will get things back on track.
But if you actually play this single player mmo, you realise your dragon age is over

I've read in other threads that some console users actually like this action game.
But, yes, for the old guard... it's a disappointment.

Dont they get bored wandering around the zones without quest line or basically story guiding them? You just go to places and kill the patroling mobs or rarely you find a fetch quest or two between them. Well, console players are not so used to mmorpg-s i guess and this thing is new to them. The fault is with me i think, i guess i wanted more than what the mmorpg-s offered like 10 years ago.... This action combat would not be bad if they took away your party so correcting the bad AI would not be a chore, you dont have the tank/healer/dd trio system anyway, just some abominable remains of it.
If you asked me how my experience was when i first played WoW back in the first expansion. Id have said: its f. awesome, i want more! (And i did not do anything just running around places and attacking random enemies, doing fetch quests, just like in inquisition usually alone) The only thing makes Inquisition better than a worse than average mmorpg are the "story missions". Oh wait! Guild Wars 2 (actually 1 too) has that (and belive it or not, the missions are more "branching" than in this single player game)... Nah, console players just dont know what they got but they got it the first time so they are happy with it.
I still believe the conspiracy theory this game was destined to be an mmorpg in the beinning.

If only others could be so open to feedback....*sigh
RIGHT?!? I mean, that statement alone made me say to myself, "They're out to make a buck, but they won't do it at the cost of screwing over their fan base." Wow. If only...

Exactly. I can get past the non-existant AI. I can get past the stupid pet projects like Fiona. I can get past they're turning our beloved Wardens into trolls. I can get past the crappy wartable setup. I can get past a lot of things, but fundamental controls that were present before in the two previous titles are gone.

My nephew loves the fact it went into the direction it did. He is a console user. He buys up every console that comes out and just started to get into PC gaming. His exact words about the PC version from the console was this, "What's wrong with the controls? I want to use the mouse."

I feel the same way, but even if Bioware is bereft of the original hearts and minds that went into Origins, doesn't excuse them from pushing out half-finished console ports. Sorry... that's a glaring admission that the guys at the top need to recognize and they won't. The disconnect from how Bioware operated in the past compared to today is abyssmal.

Which was my original point before GithCheater attacked me. Oh man... I'm still laughing with tears coming out when Valve performed the abortion.

I think I picked that info up on the Dragon Age wiki where it referred to a Bioware design team beginning around about the time of DA2, with an MMORPG as their remit. Later a change of plan hit the project. Had Biowore continued in the vein they started in, I'm convinced that this would have ended up being a good game rather than something which isn't the best at anything it tried to achieve through advertised mutifunctioning
