Sadly, and I really hate to admit this because it means I am agreeing with Elhanan, EA doesn't give a good god damn about what our concerns are.  The numbers for the sales are the most telling to them.  Regardless of what we think the game is, EA, right now, is laughing all the way to the bank.  Like the game or hate it, enjoy it or not, EA won this round.

Dammit all.....

This is sadly true. But there is a saying short term gains for long term loss.

You keep saying "overwrought hyperbole", a tolerance course would do you well I think.

Chill!

Then move on you have nothing to contribute to this thread... Some may think the same about Elhanan but he, even though he really enjoys the game has contribute to the thread with concerns about the PC version which, news flash, is the purpose of this thread...

You say your "buttons" being pressed when someone calls you a troll, well my buttons are being pressed when a stuck up person like yourself comes to a thread named "PC community concerns" and dismiss all of the concerns. You don't see me spamming about how bad the game is on other threads where it makes no sense to do so.

It was not my intent to dismiss all of the PC concerns.  I believe that I have mentioned that I believe the PC concerns are valid.  However I have not mentioned the PC concerns that I am in agreement with, as they have already been mentioned repeatedly, and my frustration level with DAI is much lower.

My belief is that the DAI glass is half full rather than completely parched.  Of course my contribution of additional emotional baggage to this tread has not helped other than to make Elhanan look like a voice of reason in comparison.

Kinda expect someone to yell, "SPOON!"

OT - am concerned that being able to target Portraits may not be implemented.

Overwrought - just like this thread.

                                                                               <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

Problems with the latest patch + BE as posted in the F and S Forum tells you otherwise.  Honestly, the patch 7 installation is "unclean".  In other words, Origins + DAI + patch7 + Bio game architects and designers + game programming + FB3  = recipe for endless customer problems.

I play Path of Exile. After installing the game, three patches were installed, over the next few days. The process was smooth as silk.  What process? = login in, patch installs in the background, then select play once the install is complete. Load times? = the same. Negative impact? = none.

Every time Bio adds new features or corrects bugs the end results is a marketing showcase of what can happen with a poor product design decision.... like the "new coke".

Interesting. Other than having Leliana kill the traitor at the beginning I have done every single thing to soften her. Apparently you can't unless you hit all the "flags" in order. So she remains hardened. Not impressed.

She can't kill the traitor and at Skyhold you must tell her our men are not disposable and she will not kill the lady in her personal quest and be softened.

 Snip

I'm sorry I got a bit hyped about the Black Emporium.  What can I say, I'm a sucker for punishment.

                                                                               <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

That's the thing. I've learned the "hard lesson" = not to get excited from BIO marketing efforts.  Take the recent ME4  teasers, poll leak, leak analysis from websites, podcasts on the subject.... everyone is enthusiastic about the possibilities and possible direction of ME4.  ... which is exactly what Bio wants the "internet" to do.... generate that positive vibe for ME4.

After DAI, I now read and stay cold.... patch7+BE just confirms my decision to wait until ME4 is out then read the ME4 forum entries..before making a decition to buy.

The game has nearly 200,000,000 hours of playtime.

Strange, with me Origin only counts the hours played not how long Origin is online.

The "chrashing" after installing BE we share and is annoying at best.

                                                                               <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

I noticed this discrepancy soon after Nov 18. Origins was reporting my game hours played that had no relation to the actual hours I know I played.  However, it fit well with the number of hours I was connected online. The test to prove this is quite simple and repeatable..

On a related note, how annoying is it that there isn't a save game editor for this game out yet? :(

Not to tread on the toes of those with actual concerns, but thought the naysayers may be interested in the latest earnings report to shareholders (link included in the included article):

:...What's more, 40 percent of its digital revenue was generated by microtransactions for DLC and other in-game content....."

No need to wonder why "there's a sucker born avery minute".  The one that came up with this was a true soothsayer.

More overwrought hyperbole. The game has nearly 200,000,000 hours of playtime.  Am I to believe that none of those hours are replays?

Am guessing that this may have been the source:

Cameron Lee ‏@Cameron__Lee
Players in Dragon Age: Inquisition have logged nearly 200 million gameplay hours since launch #RandomFact

sebastianhanlon ‏@hanlsp
most of it in the Hinterlands

Love the bit about the Hinterlands!

I actually was thinking the same thing. I had only one instance of a crash with NVidia directex. Well, it was 3 in a row. During the first time I finished Halamshiral. Crashed at the end of the loooong cutscene, which was annoying. I shut the game off, came back later and got through the scene. second playthrough was with new drivers, and no problems at all.

I have a GTX 660.

I'm finding it rather bizarre that the game is having problems with higher end graphics cards.

                                                                               <<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>

Not really. I noticed early on, after game launch, that high-end GPU users were complaining. After more posts, these guys all seem to crank up all graphics options to ULTRA. Why? because they had high-end gear and wanted to play with the highest settings....  tsk, tsk.

Am guessing that the context meant more then the DAI DLC, considering that Jaws of Hakkon may be the only one with a price.

With 67 percent of its revenue coming from digital sales, EA's most recent quarter was fueled by the company's expanding efforts to sell games and DLC across mobile app stores and digital game platforms, including EA's own Origin platform. What's more, 40 percent of its digital revenue was generated by microtransactions for DLC and other in-game content.

In re-reading some Bio posts, I came across this tidbit from Allan.

"..There are some challenges with the game design that do fundamentally make "parity" with the two previous titles likely impossible, most specifically the ability to jump (jump actually had a very large impact, even if on the surface it seems like a small scale change - but without it you cannot proceed past the prologue for example)"

Bolded text is me.

There you have it... Mouse click-to-move is not happening any time soon. Well, that's the way I read it.

This is a tale of two worlds. Bioware support vs EA Support.

I can connect to EA support and speak to someone in under 3 minutes.

Bioware is invisible here.

---

I have a bug with Black Emporium. Reinstalled Origin, clean boot, repaired Inquisition.

My mage went through yesterday no probs. No one can enter today. Crazy.

No change at all. Just freezes. Only way out is Task Manager.

They have wiped their hands of it I think.

Oh well.

Cannot help but notice the focus is on the environment; not the solution presented, or the complaints. Do not think a change in the setting would alter the reactions either way.

And folks still wonder why Bioware does not speak out here more often....

Well, the answer is on their side : cannot guess it for them :)

JPR out!

I'm pretty agree with that : started 6-7 inquisitors to level 12-13 and all of them have finished the hinterland...

I have to said that I this region...  ^_^

My BE problems appear to be caused to some degree by the ModManager. Fixes are up on Nexus and DAITools.

24 hours and they are on it. Wish another company was as open and willing!

Yeah that's part of the problem with developing for PC I suppose. So  many variables.

It is only a problem when the developer don't understand the tech they use.
