This is a good point, but there is the matter of the 'kind' of feedback on social media that crosses the line which is unnecessary and not productive for anyone.

Yes, if there are claims made that you want to challenge, do it, but be smart, and use the logic already in place to question what's important.

It's also important to note that people felt like going after Ray, who no longer works with BioWare, because of a comment that he was going to play on the Xbox One.

No one deserves harassment, but messaging him wouldn't be productive if your goal was to provide feedback and awareness towards the PC issues.

A tip for other kb+m players, use Autohotkey to toggle RMB instead of holding it 24/7. Really makes a difference when you want to play it like an actiongame. Also makes all the running around more of an ease.

Is this what it's come to?

You realize this is why PR exists, right? There should be a PR representative whose sole job is to let us know what's going on. The fact that everything is silent implies that they either don't care, or are mismanaged, which explains the cause of the problem in the first place.

And what, exactly, do you want PR to do? They'll end up doing what PR does, which is not much more than saying that they're working on X issue and they hope to release a fix as soon as possible. The problem is that you run into a whole host of problems trying to patch a game, and it's only the dev team who has a really good idea of what can be fixed as quickly as possible. Really, the DirectX issue seems to be causing the most problem and is making the game unplayable, and according to the first post in this thread, they're working with AMD and NVidia to fix it. Are they supposed to say "no really, we're still still trying to fix it"? And then there may be a problem with what the devs thought they could fix and it won't work and they have to start from scratch, but the third thing down the line is ready to go but it can't go out until that first and second thing is fixed and tested with the third thing.

You know what's going on? They're working on it. That's what's going on. Anything else that's said can be misconstrued or classed as misinformation based on what's actually patched first.

Nope it is not. Look at the last EA releases. All of them are... bad. Titanfall? Yes, anybody remembers that game? Anyone?

How about, Dead Space 3? Battlefield 4? Crysis 3, anybody?

It seems that every time EA even just touches a brand: it turns out to be something half-way done and rushed, like a bad arcade game with your favorite characters in it. It's like playing WarZ Infestation: Survivor Stories within a city of Neverwinter. It is playable, but I won't enjoy it.

Sims 4.. And Sims City 4.. Sims 4 was just released about a month ago and the game was missing over 80+ basic features from all the other previous games and was released incomplete. Since the release EA HAS been implementing weekly patches, adding content in for free and fixing that which is broken which is a MAJOR + in my book.. But still.. Im adding those to the list

Well it looks like I'll be returning my unopened PC DVD of this game to Amazon.

Or will try to tommorow, anyway.

I normally do not pre-order games nor buy on opening day. I made a exception 2 days prior

to release on this one.

I'm sorry I did not follow my own advice. Never buy on pre-order or on release day. Never.

 My fault.

At least I had enough sense to leave the package unopened here as I waited for a response

from Bioware or EA on fix patches for obvious issues as noted by those who have posted already.

I saw enough on Twitch.tv streams to be aware of issues via that means as well.

I doubt anyone at Bioware is reading this but a word of advice. Do not lie about your games in

the future and don't mislead PC players.

Another word of advice. Get out in front of issues and address them on the forums. Do not ignore.

I would have kept this game without returning tommorow if I had seen more than one measly post

with vauge promisis of patching to come from the developers.  I do not trust you all now.

If I have to wait six months to a year for a proper patched version of the game, I'lll do so and buy

again in six months to a year at reduced price.

Something I knew to do but foolishly thought Bioware gave enough of a rats ass to do it right on

release for PC.

As you can see from my profile I"m not a 1 post bot. been around since 2009.

Surprising how many people do not understand the way trust is built. This poster does. This poster offers solid advice - beyond PR publicity & MICE tasks. This poster does it because the poster is in relationship with you, Bioware. A relationship that could lead to loyalty and sales rather than buyer remorse and closure.

And it has nothing to do with your product. It has everything to do with how you operate the transaction.

BLOFELD: I must congratulate you gentlemen upon your superb equipment.

CHINESE 1: We congratulate you, sir, upon the way you handle it.

I could not find the clip on Youtube for you.

Friend, you are not alone. Bioware Division would be a better, more profitable and friendly place to work were your words understood and applied there.

=====

You realize this is why PR exists, right? There should be a PR representative whose sole job is to let us know what's going on. The fact that everything is silent implies that they either don't care, or are mismanaged, which explains the cause of the problem in the first place.

This person also understands Corporate Public Relations function in a crisis.

A. People are asking for a lot to be done. Not just bug fixes and crashing, but better support for kb/m and tac cam fixes. In addition to the actual bug in the tac cam.

B. They. Don't. Know. Patches get released when they're done. Anyone who's ever played a PC game knows this.

"Going after"?  I don't know if there was talk about his tweet in other threads, but all I saw was one poster asking for somebody with twitter to ask him some questions about his comment.

I don't know if that would classify as harassment.  Obviously it would depend on the question, .... err.. in question.

I didn't have a lot of CTD's at first but now frequently getting CTD in conversations with a DirectX error:

f11ec63f-5c3d-4c04-9378-6b170178add6_zps

This is the one I get most frequently. Other times it simply freezes the machine or crashes to desktop without warning.

I'm saving VERY frequently now, which limits what I lose, but breaks immersion.

It's obvious they rushed to market so they could recognize all the pre-order dollars and capture holiday sales. The ~ 1 month delay ahead of launch probably should have tipped me off. (Can you imagine the hot steaming mess it must have been a month ago?)

After the debacle that was DA2 (I ultimately returned it to Amazon for a full refund) on PS3 (constantly audio clipping, frame drops, crashes) I figured I'd be smart this time and play on PC (easier to patch, no MSFT or SONY rings to kiss), but looks like they got me again.

On the whole I'm enjoying the game when it's not crashing/freezing. And I'm committed to staying in that mindset for as long as possible. I just know I'd be enjoying it EVEN MORE if not for the bugs.

Well, I'll just say this - In the midst of having various issues and bugs, and wondering why things changed so much on the gameplay front... last night I assualted the breach and there was some of the most spectacular artwork and animation in a cutscene I've seen. It was almost worth the 20 hours of sonar pings and hand/wrist ache of holding down buttons :) Kudos to Bioware for the presentation, now let's tweak the gameplay :)

Having read almost all the comments in this thread and made a few comments myself, I want to state this here as a final, well statement before moving on from this post.

The Twitter feed I mentioned before from Mike Laidlaw:

Mike Laidlaw @Mike_Laidlaw  ·  18. Nov.

Tactical view force-centering when switching party members is a bug and will be addressed in the next patch. Continuing to monitor feedback.

is actually from the 18th of November. So this issue is of course known since the U.S. release of the game.

I myself am from germany and had to wait until the 20th for the game to release.

Would it have been so terrible to write an apology beforehand to at least all countrys without realse yet? You know something like this:

"We are aware that there are major faults in the controls of the PC-version of the game, but since the only course of action left to us was holding the release or trying to patch these issues as soon as possible, we chose to release the pc version anyway to allow players which use a gamepad to play the game on its intended launch.

Our apologies and we hope for your understanding and patience,

sincerely The Bioware Dev-Team"

I mean is that too much to ask? Is apologizing nothing a grown man/woman is supposed to do any more? Or do the heads of Bioware really think they don't need that at all?

Instead they make a half-hearted frist post in this thread about knowing the issues and patching them and then tasking poor Conal Pierse to deal with all the issues, negativity and hate that comes their way in this thread.

Really I feel for you man. You have my sympathies and hope you know we don't really bash on you as a person here. I know dealing with a lot of negativity can make you depressive (yeah thats a real thing)

So all thats left for me is to conclude for me that the way I was treated by Bioware (the company not you Conal) is something I will not forget for years to come and it will impact on my decisions for any future sales, wich will definetly not be pre-ordered.

And that makes me angry too. I am a gamer who wants to be suprised to see that there is a new quanri companion or the qunari are a playable race, so I try to avoid any spoilers, and limit the exposure to the game beforehand. But now that I cannot trust Bioware to deliver on their word anymore, I have to read reviews and comments after the release, which will surely spoil some aspects of the game for me. Sad really sad.

As a footnote the delay and quality of the patch/patches that adress the issues mentioned in this thread will of course further impact on my opinion of this company.

My regard to the Dev-Team and good luck to my fellow gamers

Sincerly Durin Duranbah

P.S.: I am well aware that this post will just be cross read and leave no impact on anybody but a few who will read it and even fewer who will like or see themselves in it. And after that it will become a leave blown away in the winds of the internet. (just to leave with a little poetic touch^^)

Some of the issue is with respect to triage (how can we get the most bang for our buck as fast as possible) and in some cases, especially some of the UI/UX concerns, it's examining if there's potential knock on effects as sometimes there's assumptions about how systems work when things get created.

The Feedback and Suggestion forum is dead.  It seems to exist for Bioware to lock topics and ban posters, erstwhile ignoring them. You should know that, Allan.

So was there a reply by Ray? Twitter seems to be the best method so far of getting a public response. Are you the new PIO here? What happened to the other guy?

Concerning multiplayer:

I can't shut off my microphone from an in game menu, it's always on.

There is no text chat.  This is vital in coordinating the team, because I don't want want to always have voice on.

Hell yeah, there have been some missions that just totally blow me away!! Sometimes I find myself just staring out at the environment in awe at what the game accomplishes with Frostbite.

then I have to fight something...or ping ^_^

I have been trying to get used to the tactical view, though. The tip about double clicking to get your team to hold position was actually quite useful. There was a post on Reddit that explained abit more how the tactical view works, and applying some of that has helped a little.

With the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, we've been hearing a number of concerns from members of our PC community, including:

  • Driver support
  • Hitching and frame rate issues in cutscenes
  • Feedback on keyboard and mouse controls
  • General user interface optimizations for PC

We've been following these issues closely and are looking into them.

Player experience is a top priority for us. Our goal is to address as many of these as possible in our upcoming patches, including some in our next patch, which is underway. We’ll release further details in the coming days and will continue to monitor your concerns.

Your feedback is important to us, and we appreciate your contribution to making Dragon Age: Inquisition a better overall experience.

UPDATE:

If you are having DirectX issues and you have an AMD Radeon graphics card, please update to the AMD Catalyst 14.11.2 beta driver.

We are aware of issues with certain NVidia graphic cards and we are working with NVIDIA for a solution.

Thank you for being forthcoming.  That's all anyone ever wants.  It often has felt in the past like criticisms (not just for BioWare at all, but in gaming in general) were scoffed at or belittled or ignored, but an acknowledgment is really something nice to see for once in this industry.

Try playing the game in Windowed mode.  And just maximize the game when it's in that mode to full screen.  Yes you'll see a stupid bar at the top, but the number of those crashes I've been getting has been dramatically lowered by playing that way.  I got the same crashes, and I'm on a 780ti that is barely 5 months old.

Well, after playing for around 20 hours That my initial analysis of the game was wrong, it's only when you leave the hinterlands that you can see how good the game actually is.

Now, I did not encounter a single crash or game breaking bug so far, I got everything on ultra running around 60 fps. I just want to give the devs a beacon of light, I'm fully aware that my experience in no way represents everyone's and the devs should fix the bugs/crashes that some of you are having, but it must be said that when you have the right PC configuration the game just works excellent.

I also like the fact you need to move your character with wasd more than old system and I've always been a PC gamer. My biggest concern at the moment is the tactical camera which does not occlude objects, the tactics system being so dumbed down and the fact that you don't have any freedom spending your attribute points.

All in all this game gets an 8/10 from me, but mind you that's only MY opinion because I don't have any issues :). For all we know it was EA breathing down their neck that made them cut corners, usually developers are extremely passionate about their projects but it are companies like EA that just want money as fast as possible and pressure the developers in releasing a game that is "close enough"

Curious, anyone know of a way to possibly show support and thanks to the developers like the code monkeys, graphic designers, story writers etc. etc. without showing any support to the garbage dweller used car salesmen in the marketing or the failures in suites that lied about this stuff and shoved an unfinished product out the door?

You know, the people who weren't busy high fiving each other and cashing bonus checks on release day and have to stay behind and figure out how to fix the mess left by those jackasses after they head to the next AAA release.

AKA the people who actually made the game.

See, Allan, this is the kind of 5 minute daily report the people here would like, speaking generally as a communications professional not for everyone here. Such reports would lower the post count as people come to read rather than end up venting.

So what is the triage you're looking at, at the moment? (What is the bundle - and let us know if parts of the bundle change) What percentage of the original team are working on it? Are they the folks originally responsible or have you had to make ad hoc teams? Have you had to retrace steps while doing a patch? Which patch?

I do not see a great mystery revealed here or trade secret. But this sort of courtesy communication Bioware seems to consider superfluous but that actually matters. Read through all 75 pages and you'll get a sense of that. The PR person - or whomever is designated Johnny-on-the-Spot - needs to do that; and do that with empathy.

In this sort of position you do not need to monitor for Q&A  Just brief us.
