Amplitudelol quite effectively pointed out what those "differences" amount to. The original poster stated that the lack of real differences effected his immersion. Do you think his level of immersion will now be changed because you posted those links? Will his gaming experience be better now that you have pointed out that others disagree with his opinion? Will he (and others with the same complaint) suddenly realize "ah yes, there really are differences! I am much more immersed now"?

Once more for those with reading comprehension issues or an abundance of stupidity: YOU DO NOT GET TO DISAGREE with people's concerns & complaints here. You do not get to tell people that their concerns and complaints aren't valid*. This thread isn't a debate about the merits of the PC port of DA:I. If all you are doing is refuting what others here say, your posts and opinions aren't needed. They serve no purpose and help no one. This thread is for PC players to voice their concerns about the game. It doesn't need you to defend Bioware. Bioware is ignoring us on their own very well, thank you.

*the exceptions being when a person has simply missed an existing feature and is complaining about it's lack. Then you can point out they are wrong.

The exception pretty well covers this one; the feature exists, and they are seemingly incorrect.

So what do we think of the Black Emporium so far?

Worth it's weight in mbs?

Nope.

so their opinion of how immersed the dialogue made them feel is wrong? Really?

Is it that important for you to be right and everyone else here wrong?

I am definitely more immersed now and I am not even playing the game at this time, lol.  There is an agenda at work here clearly.

Well, it delivered what it said it would.  And it's free.

Oh look at that, EA are still pathetic....

Should I expect anything less with something that is free from EA?

It looks like their maths are wrong ;)

This happened to me too, but I assumed after I paused the download. I canceled and started over again but this time let it run overnite (hoping the drive would not be full in the morning) and it succeeded.

I had this same error. I repaired the game and had to download some 2 GB, and as it turned out that update was the part of the repair itself. So just cancel your download and go for repair. It worked for me at least for me.

Just been on the Daitools forum. That is like a breath of fresh air.

It is the opposite of toxic! And Elhanan will never go there!

Jumping precludes click-to-move from ever happening in this game and too many people are (inexplicably) satisfied with the console-like controls for them to spend any time changing them.

As there are games that feature both jumping and click to move, I understand this is an existent problem, but not a necessary one (i.e. unsolvable).

Of course, as always, it's probably a time/resource issue, as they're simply not interested in devoting the effort to solving it.

I can't believe I'm saying this but...

the patch # is somewhat decieving in that they have numbered hotfixes as patches in order to keep parity between systems. So really there have been 6 real patches and 2 hotfixes. Still a lot though.

You could have given up on proper m+kb controls back at patch 1. They aren't happening. Jumping precludes click-to-move from ever happening in this game and too many people are (inexplicably) satisfied with the console-like controls for them to spend any time changing them.

Only one hotfix was renumbered though: Patch 2, Patch 2 had a hotfix (not renumbered, just added), Patch 3, then Patch 4 was the Patch 3 hotfix, Patches, 5,6, 7 all full patches.

So, 6 real patches, 2 hotfixes, up to Official 7th Patch. (as you said, but only one renamed hotfix, for keeping it undeceiving :D )

So, my experiences with the game are OK. I personally love it, though I do wish there were more voice options for characters.

However, a few weird glitches have occured while playing. Pictures to follow.

^ where am I, what is that rabbit in a hat thing, and why is cassandra floating in midair? I was just trying to go chat up Leliana!

Just trying to leave skyhold and the world is clearly screwed up even more than it was when the freaking breach hit.

Anyone else have or had this problem?

Regardless of the class or race you play, you get exactly the same dialogue. They tack on a sentence here and there, but dialogue is identical.

Because a difference in dialogue lines is a fact; not an opinion.

The original poster stated that the lack of real differences effected his immersion.

The concerns, complaints, and immersion level are NOT being invalidated.  It is the skewing or misrepresentation of facts that is being challenged.  Stating that the "dialog is exactly the same" is a misrepresentation of the facts.

^ This,

The amount (or lack thereof) of variation in dialogue is completely objective. However, the amount of variation in dialogue that one deems necessary to fill their immersion metre to a satisfactory level is completely subjective. Separate issues where one is much easier to tackle than the other.  Obviously if someone says there is no variation then they are either using hyperbole to show their discontent, or they are misinformed of the facts. The mage dialogue alone invalidates this claim.

I personally have played a human mage and an elf rogue and there's a bit of difference there. I think the problem is that with a 120+ hour completionist run, the differences between class and race in dialogue seems insignificant.

Edit: Also, most of the differences seem to occur on side quests rather than the main story, which is a shame.

My original post stated that the bulk of the dialogue was the same. They changed the first sentence or two for race/class variation.

Then the rest of the dialogue continues as always.

With a voiced inquisitor, who has the same voice regardless of  class/race, that was the point I was trying to make.

It is a very shallow implementation in my opinion. Shouldn't an elf sound different to a qunari?

Heavens above, they would have to add dialog tracks for all races! They have enough trouble keeping existing male/female voices in sync!

-Thank the Maker, the Inquisitior is here to take care of the bear in the cave! Human warrior inquisitior, will you take care of the bear in the cave?

-Yes, i will/ Yeah, but i dont really want to/ I want to kill you instead but sure why not/Im a funny guy so i do it!

-Oh i see you killed it, human warrior inquisitor, thank you! May the humans be praised for eternity!

-Thank the Maker, the Inquisitior is here to take care of the bear in the cave! Elf mage inquisitior, I dont really like elves but will you take care of the bear in the cave?

-Yes, i will/ Yeah, but i dont really want to/ I want to kill you instead but sure why not/Im a funny guy so i do it!

-Oh i see you killed it, elf mage inquisitor, thank you! May the elves be praised for eternity, even though i dont like them!

-Thank the Maker, the Inquisitior is here to take care of the bear in the cave! Qunari rogue inquisitior, now I dont really like qunari but will you take care of the bear in the cave?

-Yes, i will/ Yeah, but i dont really want to/ I want to kill you instead but sure why not/Im a funny guy so i do it!

-Oh i see you killed it, qunari rogue inquisitor, thank you! May the qunari be praised for eternity, even though i dont like them!

I like when your chosen race matters in a roleplaying game. I need to agree with Elhanan on this one. Thumbs up.

Bold text is the same dialogue! First sentence varies, that is all. Line 3 changes due to the person being spoken to.

And they are all spoken by the same voice actor.

1) yes it is. Your reading comprehension is lacking.

2) It's not your job to defend the game here. This is not a thread about defending the game. A player raised a concern *that affected their immersion* YOU DO NOT GET TO DISAGREE WITH THAT

Now im very toxic and provoking and immature but guys without the hint of sarcasm: Black Emporium is free and regardless of it should or should have not been in the game in the first place, it is downloadable now and is an improvement to the game. If i thought the game was worthy enough to play even today and dismissed the fact that the gameplay was a cheap korean mmorpg kind of one and the controls were horrible id be very happy to have BE for free now. If it does not break any other stuff in the game.

Agree here, it's free, and even if the dialog is a bit lacking, this is not the end of the world as you probably never discuss with the shop owner more than a really few times...

We need to focus in what's really important for us in the game : ok, it's completely a matter of tastes, but  the next time just smash enter to pass the useless dialog :)

JPR out

PS : don't smash too hard, please...  :crying:

Hello AnubisOnly.

My GPU's at present are a pair of Titan X's. Though they are only being used for testing I ordinarily have a pair of Titan's in my computer, though it is my intention to upgrade to Titan X cards in the near future.

^ That explains many.. I hear all the time about crashes on nVidia GPU's in this game, I have R9 290 and had zero crashes from patch 2 to patch 7.

In re-reading some Bio posts, I came across this tidbit from Allan.

"..There are some challenges with the game design that do fundamentally make "parity" with the two previous titles likely impossible, most specifically the ability to jump (jump actually had a very large impact, even if on the surface it seems like a small scale change - but without it you cannot proceed past the prologue for example)"

The only reason you need jump to proceed past the prologue is because BioWare placed an obstacle in the way in order to teach you the jump command.  This problem is contrived and could have easily been avoided by simply not having that piece of wood laying in the walking path.  It made absolutely zero difference to the plot.

They designed the world around having jump as a character ability, when they could have just as easily designed it around not having jump.  (Neither DA:O nor DA II had jump, and I never felt like that was what was really missing from either game.  Hell, neither KotOR had jump, either.)  They can't go back and fix it now without re-doing major coding, which is cost-prohibitive at this point.

I guess this means I won't ever play DA:I again, or buy any DA:I DLC.

This is a tale of two worlds. Bioware support vs EA Support.

I can connect to EA support and speak to someone in under 3 minutes.

Sure, I can, too.  Unfortunately, no one in EA support whom I've spoken with seems to know anything about DA:I.
