If that information was ready it'd be communicated.  Unfortunately it's not.  I've sat in on (and contributed to) discussions for the PC issues for upcoming patches.  The PC issues are the probably the most hot topic of issues and I know people are working on them.

Some of the issue is with respect to triage (how can we get the most bang for our buck as fast as possible) and in some cases, especially some of the UI/UX concerns, it's examining if there's potential knock on effects as sometimes there's assumptions about how systems work when things get created.

Allan is there any way you can comment on the idea of re-creating the Origins/DA2 mouse and keys UI within the new Frostbite engine, either currently as a way to improve it with the patch or back when things were originally forming?

Seems most people just want it recreated, but clearly there seems like there would be obstacles.

See, Allan, this is the kind of 5 minute daily report the people here would like, speaking generally as a communications professional not for everyone here. Such reports would lower the post count as people come to read rather than end up venting.

So what is the triage you're looking at, at the moment? (What is the bundle - and let us know if parts of the bundle change) What percentage of the original team are working on it? Are they the folks originally responsible or have you had to make ad hoc teams? Have you had to retrace steps while doing a patch? Which patch?

I do not see a great mystery revealed here or trade secret. But this sort of courtesy communication Bioware seems to consider superfluous but that actually matters. Read through all 75 pages and you'll get a sense of that. The PR person - or whomever is designated Johnny-on-the-Spot - needs to do that; and do that with empathy.

In this sort of position you do not need to monitor for Q&A  Just brief us.

I agree with this, I don't think that Bioware would have been like this if say they were relying on kickstarter funding. Sometimes companies get too big and settle into that meatloaf on Tuesday and this position on Wednesday routine. Even if you're on top you shouldn't lose that edge. How many times have companies failed because they got too big and couldn't sustain their own weight? Keep your customers happy and they'll keep you happy.

just want to add my 2 cents in and Say thank you for an update. been slowly losing my patience and glad you came back to update us lol. and all the people bashing bioware directly? Remember something. EA Bought Bioware, Look at the top left of the page, or the bottom middle. EA Has been giving players and customers a lot of trouble, Bioware the actual game maker and company allways did pretty good by us, so don't just assume its only EA or Bioware. because it its a Bioware product we are used to some insanely awesome games (with a few less bugs, yes sometimes game breaking, but less and more tested) but remember who Big Brother is now for Bioware. that's is a Big part of the game creation as well when the actual makers and scripters and artists are constantly being pressured to go faster and faster.

Summary: Thank you Allan.  Remember BioWare's New Big Brother, Don't just bash one assuming its only them.(tho I don't much Like EA's effect on a lot of stuff now days)

Edit: Apparently my attempt to Quote Allan's First update post failed lol.

It's not like I am asking for them to end world hunger, pollution, and every world crisis.

I am just asking to be allowed to play the game I purchased. Lol.

I think that is a reasonable request.

Nobody in the community is questioning on the AI tactics?? Why is there so? I know the return of tactical camera is back which is great, but sometimes I just want to play the game with less micro-managing or none at all. The AI tactics is so limited that it seems to be useless and no help at all!! Please do an update on it. It is killing the franchise off. Not that the AI tactics were great in DA:O and DA2 but at least it was signature to the series. Please bring it back!!! Thanks from DA fan.

Additional note: DA:I is the best game that I have played in terms of SP, graphics are great and nice indepth storytelling, I am enjoying the game so far :D

But I want the AI tactics from origins and 2 back :/

"Player experience is a top priority for us"

Really? It seems to me the ONLY thing you gave any consideration to was yet again the console audience.

You continue to marginalize the audience that helped make this company what it is. We PC gamers were the ones that bought ALL the earler games, we supported you when your decided to crap on us with delayed PC ports of your new games, and even forgave you for dumbing down your games to better appeal to the controller driven gamers.

You took a great ip based on the legacy of BioWare and Baldur's Gate and then flushed it down the toilet with the first rushed and utterly dire sequel.

You earned much back with a what has been returned to Inquisistion, but you've punched every PC gamer in the face with a complete disregard for us.

The thing that gets me, is that it makes no sense. The most popular Console RPGs rely on deep and tactical combat mechanics, except you seem to think that treating your audience like idiots is the way to go.

- Combat and tactics are even more twitchy and simplified, (hell even DAII had AI behaviors/tactics)

- Tactical Camera is almost useless due to not pulling back far enough

- Tactical Camera  completely useless indoors due to being constrained walls, ceilings, and objects

- Tactical Camera Mode doesn't allow for multiple commands, and make the game a micro-management nightmare

- No click to move (because obviously only a controller can do the job)

- No click to move and interact with an object (again no thought outside a controller was given)

- Inventory management is a nightmare, and is the worst I have ever seen in any RPG ever made. Why not have a logical system that enables player to EASILY see new/in use items, Whoever is your UX person needs some upskilling asap.

- Conversation UI has not been changed to reflect mouse/kb controls and the hit box for each one is pathetic.

Minor niggles I need to ask

- Why does my party magically merge with my mount? Why cant every party member have one?

- Why cant I hot swap weapons/skills?

- Why can I not put custom markers on my map?

- Why is there no option to play with the camera "fully" zoomed out? What is I would like to play the game this way and not in "Tactical Mode"?

- Are you BioWare or biowEAr? Seems to me that you care more about keeping the bean counters happy, than your audience.

From what i've gathered a patch is being done to alleviate these issues.

People want some sort of apology; (neverrrrrrr going to happen... the creation of this thread is the best you're going to get).

So what's with all the commotion... Yes it sucks, not much angrily messaging on a forum / tweeting them non stop - is going to do about it now... We've just got to wait for the patch and see if it does indeed fix the issues..

So guys...take a break?

Agreed, there's no place for harassment, however, you guys could have mitigated a lot of this by simply coming on the forums and talking to your customers. It's called public relations, its called customer service, and its not like you can't moderate if people get out of hand. The game has been out a week and nary a comment from you guys until now. I don't care if you gotta draw straws but get some people on here and interact with these forums. Spend a couple of weeks, I know its a pain but we all have to do things we don't like. It would go a long way to fostering a good relationship with your fans and also reduce some of the white noise. At the end of the day we're the ones that pay your bills so show us some love will ya?

Whole Heartedly AGREE!

In a forum thread dedicated to the topic of game-breaking bugs, it would make far more sense for the people complaining about people complaining about said bugs to take a break. ;)

AI for me is becoming a problem, particularly for archers. I mean, there´s a very specific skill that grants extra damage if the character is higher than the target. Well, I position Varric (typically) on higher ground; why does he have to leave that position when he´s not attacked, has range on target and line of sight so shoot it?

To be fair its about PC concerns..Not game breaking bugs but sure.. Where our complaints are currently being worked on in the next patch... So until the next patch comes out and heaven forbid, it's found lacking... any further complaints are well... a bit futile..

Which specific parts of DAO/DA2 UI/controls? (apologies I caught up on the thread VERY quickly so issues are blurred together and I'm looking at some other threads at the same time).

I played both DAO and DA2 primarily with WASD controls. On DAI I tend to do my typical rebinds (R becomes interact, I set F to attack) and Q/E are swapped with A/D (a change I've been making as far back as KOTOR).  I also put search on 'X.'  In explore mode, on a personal level, I don't find the game plays all that differently.  Though I can certainly understand some complaints with respect to the loot radius and the search pulse and things like that.  I also think feedback such as mousewheel not swapping from action/tactical mode (as well as mouse rebinds) are reasonable things for fans to bring up, for sure.  But I'm also speaking as someone that went through the various iterations of M&KB controls.

I imagine you're in the camp for things such as "Press interact should move the player to the interactable/auto attack" and things like that?  Probably click to move outside of tactical camera mode?  I know it's actually unpleasant to have to regurgitate this after likely already stating it, but I'm also spending the evening helping investigate the banter issue and am posting mostly from my phone for this.

You are going to get ALOT of responses to this.  There's a general pattern I have personally noticed however, in the last week + of reading this thread and others...  the idea of customizing the controls, mapping to the mouse (mouse 3, 4, and scroll are currently not even recognized), playing and interacting more with the mouse then almost 90% of the commands mapped to keyboard keys only (diabled persons, etc have HUGE issues here).

Tac Camera controls as well could use major improvements.

Also, if you go back to Sept, I actually was replied to by Tyler Lee, and he mentioned that the LMB+RMB = walk forward was confirmed in the game, but it seems that was changed.  Would be nice to get that back.  Would be OUTSTANDING to get that back.

This thread in partic has alot of the things that people have been bringing up repeatedly on the first post.

This one as well has quite a few things I've seen requested over and over.  OP has a bit of an aggressive tac, but it's playful I think.

Personally, I just used the mouse, tab, and space bar to play DAO and DA2

Any bug that causes PC crashes every 5-15 minutes is game breaking, and there are quite a few people here who have experienced this. You might have an easier time participating in this discussion with a better understanding of what's being discussed. I know 70+ pages is a lot of posts to sift through, but please try reading some of them before replying again. Thank you. :)

Gosh, I have a very crappy laptop bought in 2010 and I still can play the game with mouse and keyboard just fine. It's annoying sometimes, yes. But not as much as some people said.
