I have to agree with the professional reviewers. They surely learned every bit of the science of gaming and they play in a very professional way unlike the gamers. Who am i to disagree with them as mere consumer of the products? Their opinion is absolute and undisputed. If they say a controller optimized pc rpg with mmorpg content is game of the year, and a successor to Origins, then it simply is. I dont recommend listening to gamers as they are not qualified to rate games, especially not on Metacritic - thats a very filthy and horrible place full of nasty people trolling it up with fake ratings. Leave it to the professionals. They know their sh**. They just proved it with Inquisition.
When you find yourself not liking an aspect of the game that was praised by reviews, repeat this 50 times: I am wrong, professionals cant go wrong, game journalism is not advertising machine of the gaming industry.
I guess i should read this as sarcasm, right ?
Please tell me that's right and that you are not so ignorant about how "professional reviews" work on the videogames industry.
Yeah, my english got the best out of me, i read it as an obvious sarcasm now ![]()

One playthrough is understandable, but to pour more into the game and claim it was not enjoyable is questionable at best.
Oh, I like the game just fine. I'm not as bothered about 'mmo fetch quests' as some others. I just don't like the PC controls.. you know, the subject of this thread. ![]()

Larian just announced an enhanced edition of Divinity Original Sin free to everyone who has bought the game. If a small company like them can do it then certainly BW/EA could if it really wanted to given the myriad of issues remaining in the game.

Good news, sort of...
Personally, I had trouble finding BE. Then, EA sent me an email announcing it's availability. I followed the links from the email, went on the Game Order page and Ordered the BE DLC for $0.00. Why EA forced me to go through hoops to download a free DLC is bizarre. The Inquisition PIC, from Origins already shows you "downloadable content". Why not include BE? Nope. it had to be a seperate and convoluted process.
Ok, it's downloaded and installed. Now I will wait for some indications that it's available....

I have about 200 hours of gameplay to show it is viable too. I still don't like it, and I wish it was better.
<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>
That game counter is full of BS.... totally inaccurate.
Mine shows 247+ hours, last time played was Jan 5, 2015.... Of course I played between then and the end of January. which does not show up. Another thing, the timer continues counting when you are AFK....... so really, it's connect time and EA financial's "world wide game/player hours" number(s) is innacurate.
Oh, well.....

Speaking of game reviews websites
GALCIV3 just came out. The game crashed on startup for many. Apparently the many have missing fonts or put another way... GALCIV3 requires 'unusual" fonts, that many don't have in their PC. There is a complicated workaround to fix but still....
Review sites for the game obviously had no such problems.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose as the saying goes.
Edit: I want to play this game, as I have I and II. Good thing I waited.... so far, the devs seem to reply to the players' feedback.

Why is it hard for you to accept that some of us don't like the PC controls? Look at my very first posts.... they were all about the controls.
Jeesh Elhanan, why you spend your time here and in other forums poo pooing others for the very specific purpose of poo pooing is bizarre, to say the least. Not only that, but the number of hours you say you played and the amount of time you spend in the Forums makes your playing time numbers questionable.
Just an observation.

I would venture that the vast majority of players with two playthroughs enjoyed the game at least somewhat, whether or not hey hated the PC controls.

How to influence reviews
Here is a post:
GalCiv III: Stardock needs your help
Hi guys,
We're less than 2 days from release! We've gone gold.
For those of you who have been playing the game recently, we could really use your help on something in particular: Steam user reviews. We are currently 79%. We've been on an upward trend since Beta 6 (we were at 66%!).
If we get to 80%, the rating changes to "Very positive". It would only take a handful of positive reviews to reach that point by release day.
Here's the URL: http://store.steampo...com/app/226860/
Thanks

So, about Metacritic and DAI. Are the pro reviews that Elhanan like also similarly influenced?
Just a thought.

I get that some folks do not like the controls; don't get the idea that someone would play hundreds of hours on them, though. And the Ignore function does save a lot of time.
And I rarely look at reviews, and have only three games on Steam; two of which are currently active. I try and glean my information from other sources, like I was able to do with DAI to avoid the whole Decepticon conspiracy; will leave that for the detractors.

Nice attempt at a diversion using the word "enjoyment" to negate a player's view of poor counter-intuitive KB+M controls.
I have three characters going... the controls still suck and no amount of "but you must enjoy the game to play with three chars" fixes that crappy PC design. I suppose the Bio apologists must get their jollies off every time they post a counter to a negative comment with a personal "but I find them OK". Otherwise, a simple one time post would suffice.... and equally obvious, since your Ok with the controls then it's not a PC Concern for you.
I'll go further. Path of Exile is a game I've been playing for hours on a daily basis.... reached level 37. Movement is via mouse. The controls are so intuitive that they become second nature. That second nature becomes a laughable/ugly result in DAI. The first five minutes I find myself attacking my team mates or the environment, when I wish to move. Why? You see, my hands undertand intuitive and they follow intuitive. DA:O and DA2 gave me intuitive. DAI gives me counter and awkward.
I must unlearn intuitive and learn awkward to play DAI.
Moving on....

I have over 430 hours, but to say that I enjoyed it is a lie. I beta-tested two patches and left the game AFK for long periods of time. I wanted to enjoy the game and I tried... tried... tried.

I don't want to bring back dark memories but I felt this way at the end of ME3. I tried so hard to understand it.
edit: Actually, I tried with 13,000 posts to understand it. Well that's not true, a lot of those posts conveyed nothing but contempt and later apathy. But hey, at least DAI isn't that bad...

Ah, yes.. choices.
ME3's ending is farcical. Most of the game is enjoyable to play, except that stupid and totally unexpected nonsensical ending. Then Bio Montreal came out with that Galactic Readiness crap. By the time I was ready to do the end mission, a second time, I had 100% GR. The battle for Earth was the same, the choices were the same, Shep's ending was the same....
You'd think Bio Edmonton learned something on how to avoid serious mistakes but noooo... Bio Edmonton decided to develop crap PC KB+M controls for a wonderful IP called Dragon Age. Next year we will have ME4... my tea reading skill set informs me that Bio Montreal will screw something..... because, you know... tradition.
On a brighter note, expect June's E3 will have ME4 with lots of etheral marketing information with words like "fun", "enjoy", "exploration", "macko", confirmation of the three races we already know about and possibly the reveal of a fourth. I doubt Bio will talk about console game design or PC controls or micro$transactions for MP.
As you say, moving on...

Man, how many people tried to justify that ending
. A lot of them fans could not find the fault in it even if their lives depended on it. Discussions were as pointless about it as this one about Inquisition controls. Except Bioware does not seem to care this time.

Perhaps they simply find that the rest of the game is good enough that issues they have with the controls are worth fighting through.

I wish the controls would be the major problem of DAI, but it's not. Unfortunately. I passed DAO to the end 6 times with different characters, DA2 - 3 times and think to play more some time. And I played DAI once a month ago and deleted it. I just don't care about story, characters, anything. This game is extremely boring and primitive. It's a disgrace and desolation.
