OK, been missing in action cause having a ball (and dying) in TW3.

Yes, walk/run toggle, also sprint toggle,l but as uses stamina needed for signs, prefer to hold shift key as needed. hold shift to canter, double tap and hold for gallop (again uses horse stamina, overdo it and you get bucked off : found that out the hard way)

Yes mouse binding/rebinding

yes Keyboard binding: though some are reserved ~8-10? Can't remember as not bothering me.

default is left shift to give strong attack: rebound that to mouse 5, otherwise left mouse attack, right mouse parry/block, middle mouse change sign (scroll)/use item like bomb crossbow (click). hold right mouse for 'witcher sense', but rebound that to mouse 4 instead.

Biggest pain is alt to dodge, double tap key would be better, fed that back to them so hopefully they will fix/release the modding toolkit.

Any more questions?

Aside from that, similar to TW2.

Oh and forgot to say, it definitely designed with gamepad in mind, but controls are not horrifc to me (but I'm used to TW controls being a little odd, from the change form EE to 2)

Try to play with an AZERTY keyboard and we will talk about not being horrific...

At least DAI was playable for me since the start...

JPR out!

PS : I know, it hurts

ack. bad times: never used anything but a qwerty so can't comment.

Are you from gog or steam? cause I would contact gog support directly, they are usually helpful...

No need, just uninstalled the game and will probably never touch it again... If you're thinking that DAI has clunky controls, TW3 is far worse... I play for relaxation, pleasure and fun : I cannot go past the tutorial unless I'm going to remap all the keys (and there is a lot) and like in DAI there is some harcoded one (in fact much more)... The combat controls are done with a controller in mind and there is little redemption beyond that...

Sure perhaps you can adapt, but I will not : really too old for that...

And the stupid limitation of the remapping (you cannot remap the movement keys) is a pain in the rear...

At least, this give me a new look on DAI and I will probably try it a bit more later : but TW3 is dead and done for me...

And CDR Projekt can just line up with EA in terms of communication : don't believe them, never again...

JPR out!

PS : this my opinion, that's it

The controls do need work in TW3. There needs to be alot of improvement there. But, the few quest I have done are shaping up to be intersting.

I cannot use a controller (simply lack the reflexes for it), but would one of the newer ones developed for PC's be helpful (eg; NVidia Shield)? I agree that KB&M controls should be paramount, but I see pics of these new devices that may be of help to those that can wield them.

Ive heard there is no pause if you use controller but other than that it must have the same options, actually more if you think of different running speeds.

Btw overall impressions of Witcher 3 is encouraging. If its worth it i might buy a controller to play it. Inquisition is not worth it for me. Been playing way too much mmo to enjoy it.

I had read that TW3 does not have Pause feature; a mechanical reason that factored into me not getting the game. Is it for Inventory or some like mechanic a la Skyrim?

I have a PS4 : if I want to play a game on a pad, I can buy for the console...

it's much more relaxed to play a game on a very large screen with a controller : but I like the proximity of a game on a PC :)

damn, witcher 3 menus and KB&M support is also screwed up. Not as much as DAI at release but it isnt optimized yet. I hate the existence of consoles.

DAI and TW3 are 2 different games, the former is "actionrpg"/"tactical", playing DAI with a KB+M without mouselook/mouse button rebinding makes the action gameplay hopeless for non-ranged characters, and the tactical element is ruined beyond repair. TW3 is pure action RPG, from sounds of things, it has a walk toggle - so I have my movement control, mouse button rebinding and keyboard binding unless you have a AZERTY keyboard.

What's with the problems with ALT to dodge? Second time I heard that - why not bind that to spacebar? It's ARPG so no pausing - all real-time, you lose nothing with spacebar binded.

From what I've seen, the inventory screen is fine, other menus are bad, correct?

So far trying to reach consensus on whether to recommend the game or not for PC. I'm still playing Arma 3 and ATW and modding, not to mention PE 0.9 is coming out soon, so I won't be installing TW3 for a while.

A friend got me one of these:

I'm not sure if that's what you are thinking of, but this didn't help me much. Still prefer mouse and keyboard.

Thanks for all the links regarding TW3 btw. yeah it's off topic technically, but I think this thread has run its course anyway :)

Yeah if anything it's just a nice place to discuss PC controls with others with similar standards.

Dear Bethgael,
I just remembered I had asked you a question and knew you would kindly respond. Had to log back in because I would be reimiss if I didn't respond in kind.
Thank you for the advice. I will put Vivienne on rejuv and not take her so much (eh I do like Dorian better anyways). I have not tried sword and shield yet as DW rogue was painful. I am waiting and hoping for better controls on the PC as time goes to try melee again.

Just also wanted to say it has been a pleasure posting with you and Thank You so much for all the kind advice and all the work you have done beta testing to help get the PC up to proper standards. I really appreciate it. You are such a nice person and I wish you all the best.

Thank you. :)

But I enjoy the BSN; so much care and full of warm fuzzies.....

Yep; beauty of the Ignore function.

Hehe, I know this won't be seen, but you have to love someone who will continue to stamp their feet that they're right because they can't see any evidence to the contrary. :D

"Someone presents evidence I might be incorrect!? IGNORE!"

Seriously. That's how we all learn. :)

Curious if anyone from Bioware or EA is reading this forum post anymore?  There's been no communication since February when they wrote "So, I have a bit of bad news. The rebinding of mouse buttons is unfortunately not part of the patch 5 beta. We know this is something the community has been asking for and are looking for ways to implement it in future."

Any update?

The ability to rebind to extra mouse buttons and to switch the L--> R button was established in Patch 6.

However, you still can't rebind your regular mouse buttons (L, R, middle). No updates as to when/whether this will be available.

Yeah, stop off-topicing, how will BW get our valuable feedback of the controls? They check this thread everyday and cant find anything useful because detractors are talking about witcher concerns. Shame on you! Now lets get back to giving feedback half year after the release, it is not pointless, we were not ignored.

As I understand, movement and some other control keys (eg; M for Map) are hard-coded for TW3, so these cannot be changed. Thus, those that prefer using arrow keys for movement may be out of luck, as well as those that may have need for those other control spots.

The reviews I have read for the TW3 PC seem to mention the lack of controls for the KB&M; most recommend a controller save one article, which holds to hope for a future patch.

What's happening with Witcher 3 seems all too similar to Inquisition.

Trying to appease both console and PC seems to be doomed to fail. Though we have been saying that for 6 months or more.

Microsoft and Sony will destroy gaming as we know it.

They seem to develop for consoles, then realise that there are PC users as well. Better get that UI up and running!

DAI & W3 have garbage menus, shocking inventory, etc, etc. Has Laidlaw been moonlighting for CDPR?

WASD is hard coded? WTF!

It's not restricted to Bioware evidently. Sony is the master of producing proprietary equipment that won't work on any other model.

Don't get me started on MS quality control!

------

Seriously, you create the engine separate from the controls. Then you can add the controls required. Programming 101.

Who would make the brake and steering wheel part of the gearbox?

I believe you can play it

Its been off-topic for 4 months. It will never be shut down because it was started by a BioWare shirt, even if all that's being discussed is TW3. For some reason, people seem to think TW3 is supported here? 43395.gif
