To Dubya and JPR!

AZERTY kb's are the norm in Europe. That's where people use diacritics in common typing. Cedila's, graves, acutes and so on.

Haven't seen a russian (cyrillic) kb but that would be quite different to US/EN kb I guess.

To hard code certain keys and not take into account common kb layouts is a HUGE oversight!

JPR has every right to get upset over this.

This is not console port complaining, it's a crippling mistake, What if you bought DAI and the dialogues and text were all Russian? It is that sort of scale.

Im not going to say if you are wrong or right. Its a more complicated design choice, a very significant one especially in case of mmorpg-s how much of the game should be considered as side stuff in addition to the main game. Inquisition's main game is VERY short. I like the farming aspect and doing full completion stuff, i played the excell game with WoW. Its just people who regularty play single player games and not used to this kind of entertainment pretty understandably will despise it. Its a DA game and even if you have this "open world", i guess a lot of people expected a long story. The side content does not make up for the short main attraction. There is too much mmorpg in the game, some like it, some dont. Ive read negative comments about it even from console players and even from professional actual game developers.

Perhaps, but as we have also seen, many praise the game design. Personally, I like the solo MMO style, though maybe not every title. Am guessing that the next DA game will return to something the size of DAO since DA2 was the smallest, and DAI was so large. As for those that speed game to finish the title as quickly as possible, guess I have very different objectives.

JPR, your frustration is understandable, but I am wondering if you tried the fix I suggested 2-3 pages ago that would allow you to play your game without waiting for a patch? I know it isn't ideal, but it could very well allow you to enjoy the game you purchased without waiting for a patch.

And without needing to use a controller. <--- See, even the preferred console input is trolling us.

Yes it is.

Maybe Poland is the one European nation without a preference for AZERTY keyboards lol

@Davian,

Sorry, I forgot you : thanks, but I have already uninstalled the game... I've read somewhere that they will certainly adapt the game to directx12... I will try it again at this time : with all dlc and all the fixes.... And perhaps a new GPU...

:)

JPR out!

AZERTY are used primarily in France & Belgium, which are just a small part of Europe. Quebec uses them as well. Other countries with diacriticals and accented letters (such as the Scandinavian languages) use a modified QWERTY.

Poland, Germany and most other Central European countries use QWERTZ (which simply swaps the z and y on the left and adds/replaces special characters on the right compared to QWERTY)

Regardless, hard coding any keys should be enough to send any programmer to the penalty box.

Northern Europe is qwerty =).

Well, modified as noted above, but that is on the right side mainly.

It clearly does not concern you but probably the next one will be built for consoles too, therefore it will still not utilize the full cabability of a mouse and keyboard. As i said before if the game itself is good enough i might buy a controller for it. Problem is the whole concept of commanding a party with a lot of spells and positioning is not very appealing for controller gameplay, so why would i bother? I dont know about that but seems unlikely for me that console players use much tac-cam anyway and since it was built for them the pc version is a disaster. (if you compare it to the isometric system Origins had)

On the other hand id buy a game solely for a good story with memorable characters if the control is not the main antagonist. I loved the **** out of ME3 - except the ending of course, port or no port.

But the MMO stuff has to go or at least the quality should be up to date. Even mmo-s do cutscenes and some talking stuff.

Spoiler

It doesn't matter how big or small will be next DA-game, I won't buy it anyway. True Bioware is dead. DA-series is dead. I don't want to see desecration and necrophilia that new guys doing anymore )

Don't recall; never had to rebind the mouse. And my Tac-Cam works fine with KB&M, so have no idea if a controller is better or not. However, am still glad DAI has Tac-cam and Pause; some other games don't have the options.

Oh right, forgot it was you I was having a char with. For most people it is convenient to rebind common actions to the extra, unused mouse buttons. So you don't have to constantly use 'v' or you can set autorun easily.

Simple QoL stuff.

Also,

http://windows.micro...ayout-to-azerty

Just follow those to add qwerty keyboard layout instead of azerty.

Annoying but will do until they fix it.

For Search, I now use 'Tab' as I have done with many past Bioware titles. While I own some gaming gear, my lack of reflexes makes using things like controllers and other twitch items a bit more problematic. This is also why the Pause function is desirable.

I live in (Cen)Europe and never in my life have ever seen an azerty keyboard. In fact im typing this with a controller in my hands since its so standard pc accessory nowadays.

Lets also not forget that most modern mice (and some keyboards) can be programmed by their supporting software.

I had all 4 of my thumb buttons working for various functions from day one, before key rebinding was improved in the game through patches.

It's ironic how a lot of people forgot that they can do that, and then spent months moaning about how bad the controls are.

gaming is not a priority for me. i use PC for work. i don't own a gaming mouse and i don't plan to. as i don't plan to ever own controller. your logic is flawed
