Well, I got a discount for having both Witcher 1 and 2 on my gog account. Both were physical copies that I was able to register a free back up with gog, which was nice because my copy of Witcher 1 was before the huge upgrade they did and patching that was a freaking nightmare. With a discount for pre-ordering I ended up paying about 34 quid.

Anyway, those patch notes...

The patch 1.04 for PC is available for download now. Please find the list of changes below:

-Rebinding of all keys is now available after switching on the ‘Unlock Bindings’ option in the Options\Key Bindings submenu.

-Corrects an issue in the dialogue system that might have caused dialogue looping in certain scenes.

-Fixes an issue with incorrect behavior of Wild Hunt warriors after they were affected by the Axii Sign.

-Corrects a bug that caused spontaneous combustion of gas clouds.

-1280 x 720 resolution is now properly displayed as a valid resolution option.

-Fixes boat stuttering in cutscenes.

-Texture rendering quality for the high and ultra presets has been improved.

-Further improvements made in NVIDIA Hairworks performance.

-A few additional gwent cards are now available in the Prologue area.

-Fixes an issue where users with usernames incorporating non-Latin characters were unable to import saves from The Witcher 2.

-Includes a series of overall stability and performance improvements.

-Fixes issues related to alt + tabbing and minimizing the game window.

-Updates the game icon.

-Enlarges the loot pop-up window in the UI.

-Fixes an issue where, in certain circumstances, the comparison window could extend beyond the game borders in the UI.

-Upgrading items included in gear sets no longer destroys rune sockets on said items.

-Introduces small tweaks in the UI for gwent.

-Corrects some missing translations in localized versions.

Yeah, that gas cloud explosion took me by surprise...

Huh, also came to share the good news with JPR...

Also this is why I support CDPR: when something needs fixing/improving as highlighted by the community, they look into and if possible patch it really quickly. Also seen in TW2.

Also: can't remember who it was, but GOG offers a regional price match, in the form of money credited back to your account, to balance out regional thievery pricing. Ask?

I bought on Steam simply because I had Witcher 1 and 2 on it, and they (like Gog) were giving discounts to those who had them on it. A shame my W2 save file was lost (on an old machine that went kaput)

JPR rejoice. Patch 1.04 now enables key bindings for everything.

Thanks Drantwo and DavianBurke! Sorrily I'm going in holidays for 3 weeks in 10 days, and my holidays computer will become a giant toaster if I try to install the witcher 3.

:P

So, for the moment, I avoid all video, review, anything from the witcher 3 : don't want to be spoiled too much  B) .

JPR out!

You can import a save from W2? I didn't remember that option when I started the game

yes, when you starts a new game it asked if you wanted to import save, though not those exact words.

Even seemed to pick up my 360 output on Xbone, somehow.

Am I bad for saying try it, then post a picture of the results?

It was that question "simulate witcher 2 save"? I chose yes

yes! that!.. Got that question on both pc and XBone.

Edit: just checked and it does not import a save, what it does is allow a cutscene to let you copy choices you made in the previous game, to allow for your own continuity.

Unless you have a save to import, which I did. PC users can get saves from the nexus or just google 'witcher 2 saves'.

Otherwise it's a good system, somewhat like the Keep, I think.

And yes, I got £3.90 store credit.

OMG. How to write quests! Awesome. Meaningful dialogues.

Only being playing for 2 hours, still learning controls and keys. Vanilla. Only change was to invert Y axis.

That is how to make a game. All the complaints handled in latest patch, take note BWare!

I doubt that Bioware will recover from this unless they SIGNIFICANTLY raise there game. No sign so far.

No chance. Bioware will never be able to make games to this standard. What is worse, they don't get better at it, they get worse at it with every game they make.

You've only played 2 hours? Prepare to be utterly blown away by the quality of this game! Definitely the very best game I have ever played - The Witcher 3 is in a class of its own.

So no more patches needed, even though the latest one might not be working as intended? Seems I have read things differently on this thread in the recent past. But then, there are two standards being used and all....

Well no...

I will wait for some MOAR patches for TW3 (like for DAI)... Game don't recognize an azerty keyboard, and a crapload of problems from the the latest patch have appeared...

Hooray...

But, my holidays are incoming soon, very soon :)

And yes, that reminds me of something  :P

JPR out!

40+ Hours here, game left me speechless so many times.

@TobyJake, you haven't seen nothing yet, I won't spoil it to you, but trust me, the Prologue section quests are mere appetizers for the bigger dish to come.

Unfortunately I am affected by 1.04 patch... :( Game ran as smooth as silk beforehand, oh well, at least I can roll back to previous patch easily.

Is there any good summary of W2 story and characters with pictures and stuff? I dont have the patience to finish it and i lost my savegames anyway. From what ive heard W3 is the Messiah of RPG-s bringing us the grace of heaven straight from God and his archangels, but i dont want to start it not understanding **** from the story. I will already feel confused i guess because the novels themselves are not translated and didnt read them.

I don't really think there are, but don't take my word on it, since I read all the books, and didn't need any lore background I wasn't looking for a summary.

A lot of quests there are self explanatory, you won't be missing on a lot of lore, though. First chapter might make you wonder who's who, but then you'll have your answers.

I like DAI very much but yes The Witcher 3 is very much better due to their own way of story telling.  There is not much overarching story but the seperate stories told are so beautifull crafted and not exactly little.  To play W3 I don't feel you need to have played the previous witchers it stands well on its own.  If there is a downside it is that the protagonist is strictly male and not your own to boot.

Note: He freely admits that he has modded his game and that he was unable to find this as being a broader issue. If it turns out to be an issue with the patch itself and not the mods, I'd bet on CDPR not taking more than a week or two to have it fixed.

I personally love how they touch so many serious topics. Rape, suicide, jealousy, envy, alcoholism, homosexuality

all in a realistic way, not sugar coating and turning the universe into rainbows and sunshine where everything is acceptable.

Just got it and installed yesterday, thanks to my crappy internet, patches were applied a few hours ago.  I am about an hour in, works very well so far on my GTX970 at all High with textures on Ultra.  I have to say I like the combat mechanics and don't really mind the default controls but am tweaking as I go along.
