In addition to the controls and everything else I say again what I have always said the whole Tread, when I play the part I get stuck on the main screen with a black screen and it fizzes, then over to crasch on the screen at times I fizzes is also the computer for a few minutes, please let try to solve this case Study, that only happens on some laptops like my second core with AMD graphics and IVIDEA.

A role-playing game (RPG and sometimes roleplaying game[1][2]) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making or character development.

i did the wiki search for you ;) so what misses ac here? ;)

and i'm pretty sure i played much more rpg than you and not only limited to software, so dont try to explain me the world

I am not sure you played more than me but whatever ;)

Good job on the definition, now go search how traditionally the mechanics in RPG game work and you will be there :)

RPGs in general have always been games that are driven by statistics not action - hence the importance of making your own unique build. That's how they were during the years. If we say Baldur's Gate is RPG, DAI isn't simple as that. And don't go but the definition has changed, cause t hasn't - sub-genres were created to define the new mixtures between genres.

This is a non pc-control related thing but I now see this trend in bioware games. Watch this video to until about 5:40 or so

https://www.youtube....-jtGoYX_Q#t=196

DA2 did this. But granted it was done well and funny because of Varric.

ME3 did it. As you saw there, and it wasn't good.

And now DA:I

The Lord of the Rings didn't start with "Frodo awakened surrunded by Orks, he had no memory of what happened the last days, he wished he knew where it went wrong."

"The heroes journey" storytelling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monomyth) doesn't skip the "call to adventure" and "refusal of the call" into "supernatural aid" just because it more action that way.

Please consider this with any of your new projects please.

edit: I am going to expand on this. compare it to Origins where none of the characters had combat to begin with. Only the dalish origin lets you fight spiders immediatly. And there is no perril there but two curios elves who explore ruins.

And it would have been so easy to achieve this. Begin the game in the fade. Let the player wander around there first, with no clue whats going on. throw a spider here and there. Maybe a helpful spirit even gives you a weapon like in the mages origin. Let the player find and wander towards a light. THEN begin the cutscene with hordes of enemys and the escape from the fade. The build up makes the coming action oh so sweeter.

My biggest gripe with the controls is the fact that there is no key bound to the "Loot All" option. I'd like to see the Interact key working here or something like that.

Other than that, I'm actually glad there is no auto attack and if it's introduced in some way in a patch, I certainly hope it will be just an option that you can turn on/off.

I was a bit interested when I saw a new Dragon Age game was released but decided to check reviews / forums etc first.

Good thing I did.

I’m sick and tired of paying up to $120 for an unfinished product.

I don’t want to pay to be a BETA tester.

This is unfortunately an all too common theme in the PC world these days.

So I’ll just keep my money thank you very much.

(Perhaps not exactly on topic I know. Just wanted to vent my frustration I guess.)

I never complained. My machine upgrade was planned...but later on 2015 year.

My question is more for understanding what is so different between the actual FB3 games (BF4, NFS rivals) to justify this fact.

I have an old Radeon HD5850 graphic card, running on medium settings in the game (without bugs or freeze) and I really enjoy the game... except the known "controller base design" not M/KB friendly. :(  ...but the future patch will help. B)

This should probably be posted on Technical Support forum, but I assume you have deactivated the Origin in-game overlay?

You know it's strange but, I actually consider Origins a much more action packed game than Inquisition. In Origins I could go into a fight knowing that my team is set up well. They do their job because I've given them very specific instructions. It's like a SWAT team, going in and operating like a team, and getting the job done. Preparation is key, and my battles later in the game required little to no intervention.

This Inquisition game is very much the opposite. I have no idea what my team is doing. Who their target priorities are. Where they're standing. Which skills they're using. I constantly need to intervene and spend more time with the game paused than not. Sounds like a dysfunctional SWAT team to me, if I need to hold their hand with every move.

This is a problem which came about with the console world. The console platform does not offer any flexibility in preparation because it would be too fiddly to control a mouse cursor (I mean, imagine controlling Excel with a Xbox controller). This means that the game needed to be 'dumbed down' so that the console player did not need to heed preparation or targeting. The game basically makes the decisions for you and sets you on a fixed course to the end.

Once the game comes back to the PC (it's quite obvious the developers made this game for the consoles and ported it to the PC), the player sees that there are all these options which have been ignored: that there are more buttons to your disposal. That going through menus and inventories would be less of a chore with a mouse. The tactical game would be easier to manage as well. The mouse is faster and much more accurate.

This is how I believe that less flexibel controls (the controller) leads to a less complex game. It's like an airplane. It has all these controls and you can choose how to fly from A to B. This game is a train going from A to B: less controls, less ability, less decisions and definitely less excitement. I think there has been a tremendous amount of effort to get the atmosphere right, the attention to detail is great and the music and sounds are great, so my compliments there, but the development team forgot to play the game themselves.

One thing I have clearly seen over the last couple weeks, there are quite a few people who feel this same way, who were not following the game release on these forums, but after release created accounts here to voice their displeasure in the same way as above.

Lot of 1st time posters in this thread alone.

I have owned just about every Bioware title since Shattered Steel. Yes even admitting that makes me feel really old but we won't get into that right now. Through all the problems with all the games, through all the changes the various series, the disappointing endings on some and the performance issues with others I have never once been upset enough to be bothered to come onto the forum to voice my displeasure. The fact that I'm upset enough with DAI to do so now should serve as a wake up call to Bioware.

I don't expect every game (or any game for that matter) to be perfect. I don't hate Bioware, I'm not sitting here and saying I will never buy another Bioware title and I don't believe that DAI is a piece of crap. Quite the opposite in fact! DAI looks to be an incredible game!!! But the fact that I'm sitting here with such a tantalizing game but I can't play it the way I like to play (m&mb) is very upsetting. Yes I realize that everyone thinks that console gaming is the future, I guess I'm just an old dinosaur but its the loyal customers like myself who made Bioware what they are today. It feels like you've turned your back on us. Even if you we're forthcoming when you were advertising or made mention that the gameplay experience is far better with a controller I would have been fine with it.

I appreciate that members of the Bioware team are coming on here to talk about the issues, I really do but Allen I don't understand how you played through this game on a m&kb without noticing some of these issues. I'm not trying to attack you here, honestly I'm not but the two primary ways of going about combat, either in regular cam or tac cam mode have some major issues. If even one of those was fixed or working properly I wouldn't be as upset. As it stands right now I only have two really annoying ways to enter combat with, it's not much of a choice.

It's a fair criticism.  M&KB Controls aren't good enough for you, and it's valid to say "hey maybe you should have spent a bit more time on this across the board, don't you think :|?"

To be honest I haven't seen anything in the game yet that would make me think that the controls from Origins and DAII wouldn't have worked for this title too.

Jump? Not as if I don't have plenty of keys to map it to.

Dragon Age II controlled near identically to Origins.

To me it seems as if most of the changes have been made 'because' and not that they'll add any real benefit.

Still I at least like the option to use the number keys to select dialogue, nice to see that back.

Walk toggle is something that has come up quite a bit, and from what I hear has the advantage of being a low cost change to boot. I know it's been discussed.

A few other low cost changes that would instantly make the game much better for me, in order of easier to harder:

1 Allow switching from controller to kb&m in game. The controller is much better for exploring, but I want kb&m for tactical combat. As it is now I have to save, quit, and reload to switch. If combat has already started I can't save, so I'm SOL.

2 Make orders in tactical combat continue in action mode (hold ground specifically). Sometimes I like fighting in action mode but just need to tweak my NPCs locations.

3 Fix the tactical camera so it's actually usable. Have separate zoom and change angle controls and increase max zoom out.

I think those 3 things would be relatively easy and make the game 100% better for me. There are plenty other fixes I'd love to have, but those are the big gripes that seem easy to fix.

Right now I feel like I'm forced to choose either good exploration and fun action combat with poor tactical combat with the controller, or clunky exploration/action combat and decent tactical combat (with terrible camera) with kb&m.

With the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, we've been hearing a number of concerns from members of our PC community, including:

  • Driver support

Concerns huh? Well if you call that for having a full priced game in orign that you can't play but 30 minutes at most, then yeh. I'm having helluwa lot of "concerns" bottled up inside me atm >__>. Thanks again for giving me a lesson that there simply isn't any room for trust anymore in game industry, specially when it comes for anything EA related. Gues I needed it since I fell to same trap all over again ;_;.

It wouldn't have to be a trade though, there's no reason I can see that we couldn't have the control scheme from Origins and DAII as well as the ability to jump.

I used to do this all the time in the PC version of Gears of War, it would even change the onscreen prompts on the fly as well.

It'd be a nice option for them to add.

How nice it must be for the Bioware Mod on this forum to see you all attacking each other instead of badgering him ;)

How nice it would be if we could work together and try to find solutions.

If I don't answer a question it's possible I missed the post or don't know the answer. In your case I couldn't say as I haven't been exposed to any discussions about that.

The stuff I've been a part of in terms of discussion have been more towards improving the PC controls/experience going forward (though I'm actually tasked on various back end online work for the bulk of my 9-5. My perspectives were asked for more because I interact with the community on my own time a fair bit and can help collate some of the feedback).

While your work outside of the normal line of duty is admirable, Allan... shouldn't managing the community fall under the purview of the Community Manager(s)? You've posted more relevant information on here in 24 hours than anyone whose job it is to interact with the Community has in the last twelve months.

BIOWARE:

I've been avidly reading/watching much of the news, videos, and posts before, during, and after launch. I have every intention of purchasing the game, but I normally do not buy a game right when it launches (for the exact reason we're seeing now, but this is to be expected). I agree that I'm watching this as an observer and not as a frustrated gamer trying to get the controls and game to function properly from Day 1. But....

I wanted to say a hearty Thank You for having an iron will (you guys must have high Will Saves!) to withstand the withering criticisms immediately after release. I know, without a doubt, virtually all of this drama that's unfolding now will be fully resolved (other than mainly outlier cases) and the first few weeks of post-release will just be a distant memory.

Like other gamers, and of course the developers and staff at Bioware, this is par for the course. Please, stay the course. Keep listening to your loyal gamer following (and I'm extremely grateful for the fact there are so many dedicated gamers out there willing to figure out all the initial and major issues for those very first critical patches). I hear your pain (all of you...devs and gamers alike!),

Players: Really, this will all blow over. Take a deep breath. The game will be awesome with the bugs fixed and features enhanced or added. Just keep Bioware informed. As you can see, they're watching!

PLAY ON!

P.S. As a developer myself, I totally understand the stress and "death marches" that poor development team must be experiencing all throughout pre- and post-launch. I'm just glad it's not me!

funny thing, I asked some professionals, from my MBA in Video Game management, about DA:I and they all laughed at me saying : "what did you expect ?"

I think that sumarize well how people look at BW and EA nowadays =X

Have to confirm a similar event from my own experience, sadly. Not the exact same thing though, but still involving professionals.

Guess EA just isn't really known for the necessary level of polish and fixing of things. Push the units out, support it just well enough for DLC, then slash prices (not DLC prices) and move on to the next project. Of course this is done in pretty much every company to some extent, but wow is it blatantly evident in Bioware games. I was just playing Awakening a few weeks ago and lost all my gear equipped on my character via a bug that I couldn't fix (didn't have a previous save file) - thank god I had loot to replace that with in my bag! I was just playing DA2 the last couple weeks and have encountered over a dozen bugs, at least half of which wrecked my immersion for the next hour. The Aria Omega DLC cutscene bug is still seared in my memory, making me cringe a little at the thought of playing the DLC again even when I enjoy the rest of it. Almost all of these things would have been caught and fixed by other companies, if not before release, than at least in a patch, but instead I just get an impression they went "Good enough."

The reason of the scope of these projects only goes so far. I know Bioware games are pretty huge, pretty weighty, but it doesn't diminish the point of polish. I'm not really specifically criticizing any particular group (like Q/A or anything), but how EA seems to decide 'that's good enough' at a point that seems much earlier than I've seen elsewhere.

I'm willing to get into DAI once I see stuff like the gender-switch bug (!!! wtf that would ruin my playthrough, personally) and UI/controls are addressed. Just examples. Bonus points for companion AI not being terrible; I haven't played it, but even watching the game it looks rather ridiculous.

I want to love DAI and buy it right now, but I'm even warning others I know against it for now. And I'm typically the one shouting praises of Bioware games from the mountaintops (well, metaphorically speaking).

All of my characters lose their basic attack every once in a while. They just won't execute it. When it starts working again, they drink a healing potion. In SP and MP that is.

I'll just put my specs here as a comparison for people, as I have had 0 crashes and 0 gamebreaking bugs so far in my first 20 hours.

I7 3770K @ 4.7Ghz

Asus Maximus V Formula (latest BIOS)

16Gb DDR3 1600Mhz

Nvidia GTX980 (latetst beta drivers installed through nvidia experience application)

Sound blaster Z

512GB Samsung 850 pro

Windows 8.1 Pro (latetst updates)

I'm running everything on Ultra and 2x MSAA with a FPS of around 60

I have no idea why I have had 0 (literally 0) issues so far, but I hope it helps some people. Ask questions if you want :).

Best regards

If these had been the recommended specs, no one will complaining about performance/stability. Many will saved money for a new CPU/GPU or... don't even bought it for pc, just for ps/xbox... on not bought it at all.

At this point, the controls I would most want added/changed to would be thus:

1. Auto-attack in non-Tac Cam mode.  Holding a button for basic attacks is pointless and unnecessary.  Click once and keep attacking until I tell my character to do something different.

Actually, that's it.  I have plenty of other things I'd like to see changed, but honestly, this one alone will increase my enjoyment of this game enormously.

I actually don't care about auto-attack because its included in tactical mode and tac mode is all I use anyway, the tactical mode itself though is too frustrating to use. It clips or gets stuck on almost anything, no full angle/tilt control whatsoever, and the camera-snaps when selecting a new character is bad.

It basically works like an invisible character instead of a free-floating camera and that is a massive problem that needs to get fixed. I don't understand why they just didn't make it like a free-floating viewpoint that you can move around however you want.

Does Bioware actually have any Community Managers? The only people I've seen engaging with users on these forums were people who are programmers, writers, QA, etc.. The only thing I've seen mods do was to close threads and ban people. So are there any actual accounts of Community Managers?
