I've seen some people say SWTOR has "click to move" which... make me think some are talking about something different than myself?

When I say click to move I am thinking of "click on the terrain, my character pathfinds to that terrain."  Not using the mouse to run forward or anything like that (i.e. clicking and holding LMB + RMB).  Or did SWTOR actually have "click on terrain and move there" and I don't remember? (I haven't really played it since March 2012).

I think most people are talking click terrain, as you describe   ;)

Combat should be based on click, with basic auto attack e automatic movement through the enemy. The same system of Dragon Age Origins.
And the tactical cam should be higher.

This should be optional IMHO but yes available.

If I remember well, it was "click on the enemy, and the character automatically approach to the enemy".

The main problem in Inquisition with m/k is that we are forced to control the movement with WASD, holding left mouse button to attack, and keep hold right mouse button to rotate camera. IMHO, I think this system is muddled and not fitting with a mouse/keyboard system.

IMHO, I think the best system with mouse and keyboard is something similar to Dragon Age Origins.

If i remember correctly SWTOR has both, just like previous Dragon Ages too:

1. RMB clicking on the terrain and the character go there (pathfinds itself there to put it ugly), just like in tactical camera mode/view. Extra useful for looting, following enemies, attacking them. Don't understand why is this not default in third person mode/view, when it is in tactical.

2. holding RMB+LMB and navigate the character myself.

Need both of them in third person mode/view.

has anyone else experience where the mouse clicks no longer work.

It was the first time i was in the war room and i was supposed to click on certain things to continue but clicking did nothing.

I started using various keys to navigate with and the enter key to acknowledge what was highlighted but eventually ran into a spot I could not select what I needed.

I thought I was going to have to end task but then I opened and closed the console and my mouse started working again.

Hey Allan, can I check, are the devs aware of and working on the bug that flags non-Human PCs as being human and gives them dialogue and quests regarding being a Trevelyan? From what I read that's only happening on PC.

It's the deal breaker for me. Bad controls I can muddle through, but losing out on the story content I specifically chose my character to see is to lose the reason I want to play the game at all.

Thanks.

Yes, I have had that a number of times. Both at the War Council and when looting. It is often fixed by exiting whatever menu is not recognizing a mouse click, then reopening it. But its still and annoying pain in the ass.

2. holding RMB+LMB and navigate the character myself.

This is absolutely key for melee combat on hard or nightmare. WASD is not responsive enough during combat, and being able to hold LM+RM to move around would also address many of the issues players have with DW Rogues and 2h Warriors being useless. This was a feature in DAO and DA2, but if it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is, I suppose...

Yes, in conversations, on the character selection screen, inventory. Sometimes mouse doesn't want to function in this game.

Yeah it happens to me too constantly in the war room... To resolve it I go back to windows (Alt+Tab) and then back to the game and it works...

did the publisher, aka EA, push you guys to focus mostly on console versions of the game during development?

My specs are...

Z77X UP7 MOBO

I7 3770K

GTX 770 4GIG WINDFORCE EDITION

8GIG DDR3 RAM

And i got trouble playing this game on ultra?? Can this be true?? Can this be confirmed?? I mean serious, my rig aint that bad is it??

It depends on what you mean by "trouble." Strictly speaking, I do not believe that the GTX 770 is strong enough to play this game on ultra (at least not at 60fps). We are transitioning into a new stage of graphical fidelity, and the 770 is beginning to show its age.

I haven't seen any evidence that makes me think it shouldn't be able to handle it on high. However, I am willing to accept that if someone can prove it. I'll always be the last person to cry "poor optimization" before I have ruled out my own hardware as an issue.

So how do you think the new GTX 970 will perform?? The GTX 980 is out of my budget

When I read "click to move," I think like, where even in KOTOR, I can click a door and my toon just GOES there.  DAO and DA2 had that, too.  I don't recall SWTOR having it, though, and I play obnoxiously actively.  (Seriously, leveling up for the new expansion is cutting into my DA:I time...and visa-versa.)  Maybe someone meant KOTOR when they said SWTOR?  Also, can the dead bodies remain there until looted, like in SWTOR?  That teeny, tiny, itty-bitty loot bit is HARD to see and harder to click on, (DEX was my dump stat, alright?   :P ) especially since I have to run my game in what amounts to Minecraft graphics :(

I don't know about everyone else in this thread, but I don't buy a great many games.  If you asked me if I wanted "controls like previous DA games" vs. "controls like other games releasing now," I'd chose the former Every Single Time.  Let Elder Scrolls games be Elder Scrolls games and Dragon Age games be Dragon Age games.  Even making the mental change in controls from KOTOR to SWTOR has thrown me off in the past, ("I'm left-clicking!  Why isn't it opening???  Oh....right...")  Maybe have a "legacy" mode for KB/M controls that is more in continuity with older DA games?  (Example of what I'm thinking of: in some third-party viewers for SecondLife, (BlackDragon comes to mind,) you can say, "I want classic SL controls" or "I want typical FPS/RPG controls.")

That said, would it be possible to have a "beta patch" that the community could pound on?  Since most of us haven't ALSO been pounding on versions for three other platforms, maybe we can look at PC-on-its-own a bit more?

lol a relatively light hearted approach like that might work wonders for them. Someone tank and you'll get first dibs on loot drops (customer praise)!

Eh. The BSN dungeon has scrub loot. It's better to farm Tumblr and Twitter, that's where the l33t epic drops are for Bioware's class.

This is definitely a serious issue and is being investigated and is considered critical/high priority (it affects all platforms too I believe).

It better perform fine, because that's what I'm getting :P  I was going to get the 770, but some NewEgging showed that the 970 is barely more expensive, at least on the lower ends.  That said, in EA Answers threads, even people with those cards are sometimes having the same issues I'm having with an Afterburner-overclocked GT630, so...

If you're still around Allan, I'm curious how likely you think a Walk Toggle is for the future of DAI?

I'm the "operator" of this thread: http://forum.bioware...lk-button-on-pc

Very happy with the game overall but walk toggle has been my biggest issue, among the other issues with Tac Cam(though I still find it very fun, just not as flexible as it should be). I know people play games very differently and you(and many others) may not see why someone would care so much about walking in video games, but to me it's a huge part of getting immersed in a game. I love to RP in RPGs and I simply don't run everywhere in real life. I don't think anyone would or does. That's why it's so jarring when I'm unable to walk in casual situations like around Val Royoux, Haven, Skyhold, Crossroads etc. Even in non-casual situations like caves and such, it's much better to take it slow in such tight quarters. PC Gamers who use K+M simply don't have that option and it seems unfair and strange considering it was in place in both previous games and works fine for people using controllers. Does Bioware believe PC Gamers love to run around everywhere, or was it just an after thought?

Like others have mentioned, the absolute ideal situation would be making the jog speed from controllers the default speed, add in a walk button or toggle, and then make the current default speed for K+M a 'Sprint' since it really is a sprint, and assign it to the Sprint Button, and allocate a different key for Gallop.

I understand that's more work and I would be perfectly content and happy with a simple walk toggle. I just want to walk.

PC Community ? But what about Playstation/Xbox community ? I'm playing on PS4 this really great game but just one major issue ruins everything, the well known error ce34878-0 that makes the game crashes..I already lost a save file because of that. Delete and instal the game again didn't change anything. Hope this can be fixed :(

Sorry for my limited english

In what ways is WASD not responsive enough?  The inertia of starting moving?  I'm not sure why would hold LMB+RMB alleviate this when at first glance it seems like it wouldn't be much different than holding LMB+RMB = holding W.

Just curious if the issue is something else and that LMB+RMB wouldn't innately fix that if that other issue wasn't addressed.

From what I can tell by going through the control options in SWTOR's menu, there isn't an option for "click to move", which like you said is clicking on the terrain and your character would move there.

Now, moving my character forward by holding down LMB + RMB is something I would like to see in DAI but I don't know if it would be possible since there is no auto attack. I've been primarily playing games(mostly MMO's) driving my character forward with the mouse and it's just something I've gotten used to over the past 10+ years. Most games I've played support this feature but ones that don't(i.e. Elder Scrolls games) I've been able to work around it by changing the keybinds of the Left or Right mouse button in the menu. Can't do that in DAI though.

Are you having issues playing on high/ultra?  I play the game on high with my machine (i5-3550, 16GB RAM, Radeon 7950), but I am pretty sure we do push things harder than BF4 did.  Ultra probably could use optimizations, but to be honest if it were up to me it'd not be as big of a priority given I think the game still looks absolutely stunning on high and there's more serious stuff to look at in the short term.

If you're still having serious performance issues with good hardware below high then it's something that would be more likely considered sooner.

Im in the same situation here, I have Battlefield 4 and runs perfectly im my machine (AMD FX 8350, 8GB RAM, RADEON R9 280X), but with DAI, I even have the screen frozen and I have to make a hard reset, (several times) Is there someone looking to this? Or I have to buy a brand new machine just to play these game? (Something that I wouldnt do of course)

Another really important PC control aspect is the decoupling of the controller vs KB/M.

Currently its choose 1 option (KB/M) and the other(controller) is disabled. This is a bad idea in its current implementation as certain options don't exist at all on a controller...like zooming out in general exploration or walking with a KB/M.

If you are going to have 1 control scheme disabled when you choose the other..make sure 100% of the actions can be performed on both schemes..
