I've seen some people say SWTOR has "click to move" which... make me think some are talking about something different than myself?

When I say click to move I am thinking of "click on the terrain, my character pathfinds to that terrain."  Not using the mouse to run forward or anything like that (i.e. clicking and holding LMB + RMB).  Or did SWTOR actually have "click on terrain and move there" and I don't remember? (I haven't really played it since March 2012).

SWTOR may or may not have "click on the terrain and move there" but it does provide movement and character control with the mouse only, leaving the other hand free to select skills, etc. The end result being a nice coordination of the mouse hand for movement and the other for attacking, which is lacking in this game. I can see where a player who is accustomed to moving AND attacking with the keyboard would not see the issue, but for me, and apparently many others, it is a huge issue.

I have almost 30 hours invested in this game, and I'm not sure if I will continue much longer with the akwardness of moving and attacking with the same hand. I spend too much time moving my hand around the keys to move and attack, when it would be much more "natural" for me to move with the right and attack with the left, with my left not having to move from the "home" keys. DA Origins and DA II allowed me to do this, this game does not.

No, it should be classic even in third person mode. It's (or at least should be) a party based RPG, not an Action/RPG. Dragon Age is not The Witcher, let Dragon Age be a true Dragon Age.

Or at least, give to the player the possibility of choice.

Like I said, I would prefer Classic.

But I could life with action as long its is one OR the other, not this mixture, that doesn't work for most ppl...

I don't think DA should be action. It should be Dragon Age. But obviously they tried to make it more action.

I thought you might have. I was just commentating on how unfair it is for console users to be held up by and arbitrary error that you don't even have a hope of fixing yourself 90% of the time. That and how useless Sony's advice is unless it actually is an install/ps4 driver related issue

the error ce34878-0 is a well known issue that has never been really fixed by a patch, they will never fix that it's clear

both animations Walk/Jog/Run are yet ingame ... they have been made for consoles from PC ! You will even get the opportunity to test them on your PC after the  avalanche event in the main story for a few meters ...

I realise you were only illustrating your point but please try to avoid SPOILER type descriptions or use BBCODE

Spoiler
  :P

OK in that case I agree, its only a matter of implementation. Walks easy, just a switch/toggle... then perhaps jog to run as a time event eg acceleration. Though if jog was a map-able key, can't see why an extra option shouldn't be available for people that want to use it.  ;)

Why Ubisoft can release 3-4 patches for Unity/FC4 within only three weeks and EA/BW 0 in almost two..?

Ubi's gotten so much bad publicity that they have to appear to be on top of things. Their stock price dived like 11% until they got a boost from FarCry 4 sales (a much less buggy game)

Allan, i know is really hard to produce a master piece like Dragon Age Inquisition, and makes that run really smooth in many platforms as you guys did.

I just want to tell you, that the game is awesome, and because of that, so many people is angry to not be able to play the game as expected.

Please, keep pushing yourselves to produce games like this and even better, but at same time, try to convince EA to give you guys more time to polishes the product as it deserve.

If you guys keep the awesome work, of course it gonna sell. Just dont do like the industry and release something that need be polished to fix that later. I know november is a really good market date, but we like Bioware games, so we gonna buy them doesnt matter when it comes out, since the product keep with quality.

Regards

Let's keep this list going, that's the only way BioWare is going to do the common sense crap they should have done before release.

I'm a software development manager and I'll tell you if my QA department shipped a product this poorly designed, heads would roll.

Bugs are one thing, but alienating the vast majority of their original PC base through insulting console controls is quite another.  And promising "deep role-playing and tactics" when delivering the opposite?!  Absolute marketing lies.  DA:I is definitely RPG "lite" - dimming it down to the lowest common denominator.  A sad cry from the beginning of DA:O without a doubt.

This will be the LAST pre-purchase of a BioWare or EA game I ever make, that I can assure you.

Instead of repeating what's been mentioned so far, another thing that is truly awful is the Inventory System:

*  When I'm looking at gear options for Character 1, I don't need to see what other Characters are already wearing in that list!  Most games don't have that for a reason - its repetitive & annoying, not "innovative".  If nothing else, make an option to NOT display this.

*  When I hover over a weapon/armor/accessory it doesn't tell me "Equipped by [Character]" until I actually *click* on the item. Stupid. I'm constantly clicking on gear already worn by myself or another character.

*  For rare items, how about making the item Name colored, instead of making me click on the item in order to see it?  Again, this is Gaming 101.  What noobs are programming this stuff?

*  How about not naming a category as "Valuable" when 90% of it is actually "Junk"?  Or at least keep the Quest/Research items in another category altogether?

*  I love looting a sword or other weapon and having to GUESS if its 1H or 2H.  Or putting it into inventory, and then having to open inventory and seeing what "category" it falls into.  Is it too hard to list 1H / 2H on the item itself?  Geez.

I don't have the game in front of me, but I'm sure there are plenty of other shortcomings.  Again, so many of these concepts are either programmed FOR 12 year-olds, or programmed BY 12 year-olds.

But then again, I'm sure that even many smart 12 year-olds realize what a flaming trainwreck this interface is compared to its predecessors and peer games.

Part of the reason DA:I takes so long to complete is because so much time is wasted accomplishing even the simplest tasks.

And for heaven's sake, FIX your PATHING so we don't get stuck on every little rock, stump or stone when running off the beaten path.

I agree that FC4 is much less buggy game, but already with 4 patches. Even their support is better, hell ME3 MP still have some left bugs, and they should support games with MP much longer than year (and even then patches was pretty small, especially last ''joke'' patch 1.05).

The game is completely unplayable right now with all the crashing....

I kept crashing to desktop, then I hit the 250 maximum cloud saved games and since then I don't crash.

Basically disable your cloud saving and make it local only and I haven't had issues since.

The Witcher 3 is going to blow DA:I out of the water, because it knows what kind of game it is.  DA:I seems to be schizophrenic.

In what ways is WASD not responsive enough?  The inertia of starting moving?  I'm not sure why would hold LMB+RMB alleviate this when at first glance it seems like it wouldn't be much different than holding LMB+RMB = holding W.

Just curious if the issue is something else and that LMB+RMB wouldn't innately fix that if that other issue wasn't addressed.

Being abe to turn and move with the mouse leaves the other hand free to select attacks/skills, instead of "holding W". Add in an auto attack and it's even better.

I'm going to step away from the game until/if things get fixed. The kb/mouse controls and virtually useless tactical mode are enough to ruin my enjoyment of the combat in the game, at which point I'm mostly left with a lousy inventory UI, a lot of cutscenes, and dialogue (some good, some banal).

Hey Alan,
What about all those bugged quests are they being worked on?.For example Way of the Assassin questline is bugged after you flood Crestwood you can no longer finish it and get an entire subclass, it's a shame cause i was looking forward to become an assassin since that was what i was playing in origins too.

Those are game breaking bugs i don't really care about fixing controls so much as i care about experiencing the full content of the game i purchased.

And if they are being worked on when should we expect a patch not for the controls overhaul just to fix those bugged quests? any ETA is appreciated.

Ty in advance!

That's not actually a bug, just a design oversight. The behavior is working fine, it just has unintended fallout that they likely didn't intend (not being able to ever unlock the spec).

For what it's worth, at least.

And don't forget the auto approach or auto following of the target enemy.

Allan, this thread is a panacea to my concerns. Thank you for directly responding, it's greatly appreciated, especially from someone directly on the dev team. As I've said before in these forums, As soon as I started the game I knew it was great. It is a great game. It's just sad that I have to wait to play it - In order for me to play it I need the game to utilize the hardware in my machine as I don't want to be thinking 'my gameplay experience is impaired, grrr' instead of just diving into the game.

Now that I know the issues are being addressed, and that you guys (and not just a community manager) are directly looking at our posts and performance reports based on our specs, I feel very satisfied, thank you. I will just be patient!

Is the horse bug in the Hinterlands going to be addressed? The Master of Horses quest is a game breaking bug where the free horse you're supposed to get is not there

As a balance to the angry hate let me say as a peecee mastur rayce player that I wildly prefer DAI over DAO. So, I back the deliberate evolution of a game series, not it's stagnation. If you can make a "legacy" style for those who want it, great, but just know not all PC players are angry. Let me also say that those are design decisions by the developers, and break no consumer agreement; bugs and broken performance and outright unplayability due to crashing is, however, another story.

So currently by the sounds of it we won't have a patch this week? Kind of really annoying that i took my last few days off work to play this yet I can only go 15-30mins before I get a directx error or worse I had a BSOD once when it crashed (my machine never BSOD's).

I agree that the controls need looking into desperately but hell even a hotfix to fix the crashes would be welcome at this point.

I must say as a Software Engineer I'm very disappointed with the Testing which has gone on here considering how broke the game is, my machine should be playing this without breaking that much of a sweat (fx8350, 16gb ddr3, GTX780) but I've only been able to play an hour.

Please fix the path finding issue in cave for companion.

Last time I had that bug, my campnions were stuck in the corner of the cave everytime I gone into combat.

I don't know why they just loved that corner even when I moved them out myself.

Frankly, having 5 platforms to create patches for, is ridiculous. It's unfortunate the game was even made for any of the consoles.

What's bewildering is, when the reviews were pouring in re: the pc version, there weren't complaints of this magnitude we see here.

Do reviewers get a special edition patched product?

Maybe that will be a DLC to come.
