So currently by the sounds of it we won't have a patch this week?

This is Thanksgiving week in the US, why would you even think that would be possible.

What i do not understand in the Combats. Why a Melee Fighter must adjust his front to his/her Target. Why no Auto lock on like the Ranged or Magic Attacks?

I can hit with a Magic attack from far away, and the target stay locked. I do not need to hold him in the FoV near the Icon. But a Melee fighter need that?

it is the same flaw like in some MMO called, Neocron.

Please give the Melee fighters some kind of "auto face the Enemy" in Melee battle, thanks. or at last give us a Visual feedback, that the Target moved out of the Weapon attack range.

Click on Ground to move your Party.

You can combine the Party AI Follower Routine to let this work. The User click on the Ground. The Routine thinks, "There is our Master/Leader, quick calculate the Path to him!", just use it on the entire Party and Voila, the Party move to the invisible Mouse click on the Ground

Give us more feedback, what item is equipped and what is not. And use more the PC Monitor resolutions to put more on the screen. I am running on 1920x1080.. And thats normal..

My Party members do not talk, only in a rare occasion when the Sun eclipse in the middle of the year.... yeah. as you guessed, it happen really rare, when they speak. Are they not Old Buddies? are they ashamed to talk in front of a stranger?

And, i still have in mind, that the Inquisitor should Start with Level 30, to avoid these Exp grinning, and go direct to Action.

And what get we? A lvl 1 foot Soldier, that survived the Blast...

Please give us a Mule, where we can craft our Potions outside the Battles or some Travel Kit. I am not a friend, to warp every time to my camp just to create Potions

i found out that the most Loot is random based calculate.

How i found this out? Just ignore a Dragon, run along side of him direct to his "Cave" and voila. Every time you get random items out of the Chest. See you can "exploit" this Dragon Loot. Just Ignore him, run to the Loot and Back = WIN!!... it it supposed to be so?

Because 2 of BioWares offices are in Canada and we had our Thanksgiving back in October.

The official recommended settings are not evidence? How they get that specs, they build a pc with that characteristics and tried the game? how could that be the recommended hardware if we only get 40fps average on high? it should be 60fps. I know for sure tha ultra need more powerfull hardware, but high? It should just good enough.

Recommended for what though? I really have no idea how they determine their recommended specs, or what the criteria is. Perhaps 30fps is sufficient for that test? I honestly don't know, but I would love to find out. At this point, I view the "Recommended" specs on the box the same way I view a food product saying "0g Trans Fat."

I haven't read anywhere that Bioware has taken an official stance on the frame rate debate. As PC gamers, 60fps just makes sense to us. However, if this year should teach us anything, it is that the industry is beginning to disagree with us on this point (or perhaps the Ubisoft debacle is so prevalent that it is saturating my memory).

DON'T set terrain, water and VEGETATION to low. it will take priority to vegetation, making it more dense, you will lose 10-15fps, set terrain and water to med/high and vegetation to one down. ie. terrain/water - high, vegetation - medium, you will notice the difference right up.

Awesome, thanks for the tip!

Mesh Quality has to be on High to get rid of shiny hair. That's the only setting affecting it.

Yeah, I noticed that. Unfortunately I can't set anything to high without getting some serious performance loss. My PC is a bit too outdated right now to handle the Frostbite engine. It's past the minimum specs but doesn't meet the recommended sadly. The armour is also way too shiny though, pretty much any metal in the game looks like it's made out of super tinfoil or somethin'.

This Inquisition game is very much the opposite. I have no idea what my team is doing. Who their target priorities are. Where they're standing. Which skills they're using. I constantly need to intervene and spend more time with the game paused than not. Sounds like a dysfunctional SWAT team to me, if I need to hold their hand with every move.

This is a problem which came about with the console world.

I can't agree more. While I'm still absolutely consumed by the game world largely due to fantastic setting, atmosphere and great voice acting, the outcome of a battle feels more often than not random. The hazzle of juggling a party hellbent on disobeying your hold position-command along with meager tactics options for each member makes it frustrating to pull off any greater strategic plans, which was by far the most satisfying element in DAO for me.

As for the console comment: I've played through DAO serveral times on the 360 and while it was definitely a better experience on the pc (which I've also completed several times since), it still retained the strategic elements of the game and was quite a fluid experience once you had the controls down.

For me, I think all of this boils down to lack of control. The "dumbing down" of the battle system really introduced this sense of randomness for me which I'm really not that fond of. I can definitely see myself playing the game to the end and doing as many sidemissions as I can find, but I'm rather sure I won't be coming back to try different builds and party setups the way I have with DAO (and even DA2, a couple of runs).

As far as the UI and controls go I see no reason for them to be changed. It's standard WASD + Mouse for camera. Click or hotkey for attack yada yada. It's no different than most PC games. I would like and option for click to move (like DA:O) but it's not a necessity. The UI feels like it's PC optimized, not console. My husband is playing it on XBox 360 and it seems like his version of the game is much less natural than mine (Plus it doesn't even look as good as my Medium-low settings).

So far I'm loving everything about the game. The writing is incredible, the characters are amazingly dimensional, the exploration is a bit tedious but I do like it. It adds realism to the game. It feels like they managed to add the things they wanted from open-world type games like Skyrim but they didn't sacrifice story at all (which was my biggest concern. To me a Bioware game is about the story. If I wanted to play a dull storyless slash-fest I'd load up Skyrim.)

I wish the game didn't have such high performance standards but that's the engine. BF4 had similar specs attached to it and my poor Gaming baby has been getting on in years for a while now so she needs an upgrade.

I also wish that the console was useable. It's accessible but there seem to be no commands. I play mostly for story so I do use the console for things like debugging and money.

That and it seems like Bioware has turned its back on the rich modding community from DA:O. They started down the path with DA2 but it feels like they're absolutely saying "No modding." with DA:I. That's sad. I love being able to have various bug fix mods and aesthetic mods.

Frankly, having 5 platforms to create patches for, is ridiculous. It's unfortunate the game was even made for any of the consoles.

What's bewildering is, when the reviews were pouring in re: the pc version, there weren't complaints of this magnitude we see here.

Do reviewers get a special edition patched product?

Maybe that will be a DLC to come.

Reviewers get "early" copies and usually spend less then 10hrs "playing" a game.  I say "playing" but really they aren't, they are sampling things so they can say.. "hey, this game has great graphics on this high end PC the company gave me to play on.. and the sound.. omg the orchestral soundtrack is awesome.. and check out this action combat and the choices.. btw.. you can craft!!'

But when REAL players PLAY a game, they play it like a connoisseur..  we bought the game because we want to ENJOY playing it, not because we are paid to write a 1000 word writeup about it and are expected to give it a more or less positive review so that the publisher of the game will keep advertising on our site or in our magazine.

The same is true for ALPHA/BETA testers that the companies employ.. they are playing the game to "Enjoy" it, they are playing to verify the systems work as they are intended.  God forbid someone there speak up to however is in charge of developement and say that yeah.. this "ping" to locate thing is working like intended boss, but is not fun at all efter you have pinged 10000 times to find things.. and god forbid anyone want to REPLAY the game.. just the thought of trying to find all that junk again via pinging...

But no... the testers can't give that kind of feedback.

IMO this game is good, but it is suffering from a disconnect between the people who designed the systems and the people who would be using them.  I really think there needed to be a week long focus test where Bioware pulled in 10,000+ "gamers" to play it on the PC from beginning to end and then let them know whats fun and whats tedious busy work, broken, etc..   Though I guess thats what we are doing now, but I highly doubt any of the "Core" systems will be changed, we will get bug patches I'm sure, but I don't expect I will ever play the game and not be pinging every 5 steps and getting "pings" off of doors/signs/etc when all I really want to find are chests and loot bags.

As a balance to the angry hate let me say as a peecee mastur rayce player that I wildly prefer DAI over DAO. So, I back the deliberate evolution of a game series, not it's stagnation. If you can make a "legacy" style for those who want it, great, but just know not all PC players are angry. Let me also say that those are design decisions by the developers, and break no consumer agreement; bugs and broken performance and outright unplayability due to crashing is, however, another story.

No, just who is a truly RPG gamer.

Because put a lot of fetch quest, quest markers, cut of at all the attributes, that kind of dialogue system etc...is not an evolution. It is simply a mess.

Divinity Original Sin is an evolution.

But, as I said previously, I can pass on of those things. It wouldn't be remember as the best RPG ever, but who cares.

The only things they should improve are the UI, combat system and tactical cam.
Tactical cam, right now, is just a fan service. Nothing more.

First let me state these are my opinions and believes on the game so far.

This will be rather long winded and sound like a rant but I really don't care at this point. I have never responded to one these forums, till now. This should let the people at Bioware know just how upset this game has caused people to get.

I feel these problems are the fault of Bioware and not EA. Bioware choose to become involved with EA, they where not forced to do so. That means they knew EA's rep and if they didn't well they should have looked into it. Bioware seems to have forgotten that their name is on this product and they are the ones people are pointing at.

I believe they knew what they were putting out. They knew the controls where much different than the other games, they knew the TacCam was an issue, they knew the best way to play the game was with a controller, and they knew there were bugs and crushes. And if they would have given us a demo then they would have had these issues brought to light before launch. But they knew it was going to be a mess and that would have hurt pre-orders, now here we are. Did they openly lie to us, no. What they did was say was things like, "Oh we can't say what things will be but it will be a big suprize." Yes they knew.

Witholding information is not lying, but it is bad for business.

Some may still want to say Bad old EA is to blame but thats not completely true.

For me the true blame lies with me and me alone. I so enjoyed the first two games that I pre-ordered this one. I had many concerns from all that I read and saw and yet I still pre-ordered. Bioware was over selling and I knew it. And yet my hope for another DAO overcame my common sense. Shame on me. They were hyping things that meant nothing to me, I really don't care if there are mounts in this game or if I can jump tall rocks in a single bound. And truly were the graphics in DAO that bad that they had use the Frostbite engine.

No one to blame but me. They got my money this time but not again. I don't like to be decieved.

They seem to have forgotten also that the story in DAO and the not fuff is what brought them to the dance in the first place.

The song and dance they are giving us now to me is just that. I don't believe any patches for the controls will do much for what we want. They will proably be able to patch most of the bugs. But if you really want to play the game as they intended, get yourself a controller, sad but true.

These are only what I believe, can't prove they really knew all these but I find difficult to believe they didn't.

I apologize if I have offended anyone. As I stated before the fault in all of my frustration lies solely on me.

Best of wishes and good luck to all those at Bioware. I hope you find a way to make your customers happy.

My heart goes out to all that share my frustration.

One last thing, is it just me or does, "made by PC gamers for PC gamers" sound alot like "If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor"

After spending some further hours playing, while I would love a revamp, I can see where a couple of tweaks would make my gaming easier and more enjoyable.

Zoom out camera further.

When holding R or the left mouse button and using WASD, you still continue to attack the direction or target that you started attacking, I would really like to be able hold down attack and change my attack direction. Currently in groups with combat being fast and frantic, it feels like it needs to allow a more action rpg style and / or auto attack and some kind of highlight system on enemies when using the mouse would also allow combat to play a bit better.

When mashing V while running around, either A) If something is not visible, don't make the ping sound, or B) If something is not visible within the range of the scan, keep the ping, but highlight through whatever is blocking LOS, and maybe make the highlight of herbs a different colour. The yellow gets lost in grass a bit to often.

Loot range activation enlarged. Not a huge amount, just enough that we didn't get caught trying to get to the right point to activate the loot while balancing precariously on a mountain side. The animations already sometimes sit to far away, so I don't think it would do any damage to that side of the game.

Just preferences that I imagine would be relative easy to implement.

Edit : Well, that reads like I wrote it before I had my morning coffee...which is when I did write it....

Please bump my thread, here's the link. Below is the content again though.

http://forum.bioware...-to-contribute/

Dear EA / Bioware,

Recently I purchased Dragon Age: Inquisition (The Deluxe Edition). I specifically purchased an Alienware mx 17 to play this game - the laptop is equipped with an i7 processor, AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics card and plenty of memory, needless to say I can run the game on ultra graphics settings without game play or cinematics being affected in the slightest. To give you context I have been playing it since it's launch on the 18th of November and have played for 55 hours so far, completing numerous side quests, the main storyline quest and killing 2 dragons. The average level of my party is 18. I have achieved 32 of 50 online achievements through Origin.

Thanks for the great game   :wizard:

Sincerely,

Dan

Hi, I am one of the people waiting to buy the game. This is my first post on the thread because I want to voice an opinion about this game on PC. First let me say I love the original dragon age origins game and enjoyed dragon age 2 enough. I am playing origins right now and it is amost perfect, so I guess I am biased because I would honestly have liked dragon age origins 2.0. So what I am determining from watching gameplay and reading all the posts is that Dragon Age Inquisiton is more "Streamlined" we can say. For instance less abilities, less tactical manipulation, less options, and more clicking for an action combat feel. Well this is very disapointing for me because I only like about 3 genres. First is warcraft 3 tactical warfare, second is TES/Dragon Age RPG, third is Civilization/Europa Universalis complex empire building games. The problem with DAinquisition is that it continues this trend of "streamlining" that we have seen now across all of our favorite PC game series(with few exception), Civ 5 was a step back and people dont remember TES Skyrim had a lot of complaints at first and needed like 6 patches to be good. So I guess I wanted to point out that this is a gaming industry wide problem and we should get used to it and try to enjoy it, because there are only a few of these type of games anyways. Put it simply probably 1/10 of skyrim players had played oblivion or morrowind. how many inquisition players played origins? We have to remember this is a buisness not our friends and they will continue to make games that make them money. All the console players buying inquisition and it becoming popular is a dream come true for bioware and they dont care about a few pc players who are angry. Look at Skyrim now, probably a top popular game as an RPG is pretty amazing. I think they are happy about their money and want to reach a wider audience. So i will play inquisition with a controler if they dont patch, try to enjoy it. and if it disapoints try to get ready and pumped up for witcher 3, because we cannot stem the tide and they obviously dont even care. Thank you for your time.

This.

I want to understand something here. How comes that D:OS feels more Baldur's Gate than the game that was created by original creators of Baldur's Gate series?

How comes that the devs from Larian Studios picked up on your own formula and managed to make a great game!?

BW, I want to buy your game, I really really do. But I don't want to buy THIS game.  :crying:

There is another big problem in term of gameplay. There is not an healer.

So we are forced to cure ourself with the potions, which are limited. This should be good, but the main problem is that potions can be auto-refil at the camp whitout any cost in terms of herbs or resources. So, when potions are finished, we are forced to come back to the camp with fast travel and then go back with the quest. Over and over again. This is repetitive and annoying.

There should be a sort of skill to craft potions at the moment, like DA Origins.

The idea is that you should be taking such minimal damage that you don't need the potions as often.

I can go a whole session (3 or 4 hours) without consuming a single potion because I use the revive options and guard/barrier.

If what I read is right, Inquisition is born as MMO, and then they come back on their steps after seen the success of Skyrim.

But the problem is that Skyrim is one of the worst RPG ever. We don't need a Skyrim-like.

Bioware has make history in RPG genre. They shouldn't watch at other games, the only thing they have to do is to study their own story and improve the structure of the games that had make history.

And...just for saying...give us KOTOR 3. A real KOTOR.

While I still think Dragon Age Inquisition is a marvelous game and much better than everything BioWare have released in the last few years, I hold Dragon Age Origins (and now Original Sin as well) as one of the finest games I've ever played.

With that in mind, what it feels like to me is that that Inquisition was built from the ground up to be a competitor to TES and Assassins Creed, and, although it has definitely borrowed (and outright stolen) some elements and handling from those games - it is still unmistakably BioWare.

Which of course could lead to a new discussion from the old "What is an RPG?" and create an offshoot of discussions titled "What defines a BioWare game?"

Beautiful game! I am having a blast and barely sleeping. The game runs well for me. I was also able to reconfigure controls.to get things close to what i like. Im throwing my voice to a shift walk toggle, like the horse. Also, tac cam could fly and still do its job right? Hows about a hide ui button so i can see whats going on without a bunch of big healthbar tags hovering over the mobs? Disconnect zooming from the toggle to action cam vs action cam. Allow me to cancel actions for a single player. Allow me to tell a character to not attack and/or hold position and let the commands stick when switching modes. . . Although id not switch modes in battle if i had better control of the tac cam. Also, instead of rubberbanding a character to the navmesh when switching to tac cam, just let him stick there and not move with tac cam rain arrows on mobs, and then i can get him down with action cam . . . But id want all the commands i gave the others to stik between modes. Otherwise, ill keep playing and watching for that pie in the sky patch panacea. Keep up the good work.

On another note, some of the early posters are childish or are children and shouldnt be playing this game. Lets try to be productive, this game is clearly a labor of love . . . As well as a money maker. I support the arts.

On another note. More boobs; please. And i want my mage to run around all old floppy and naked if i could. Okay, now im just being silly . . . Although the boobs thing would be cool. : ) jk. But really. Okay. Im kidding, but ya know, if you have time, boobs. More of them couldnt hurt. Underwear mode maybe. Jk. Just kidding. But really. Bareback on a horse. Ill just leave it at that.

It was about five hours in, I realised I was still trying to play it like I played DAO and DA2 and restarted and played it like Inquisition needs to be played.

As a warrior, guard is your friend. Leave the potions to your imbecile ranged party members who insist on getting up close and personal.

HEY. A QUICK READ PLEASE FELLOW COSTUMERS.

Let me quickly say this to all the enraged costumers on this thread, dont stop being enraged at this, the moment you sit quietly, accept "Words" and "promises" that are being thrown your way is the moment you have lost your money.

Promises are nothing until fulfilled, and until actions back them up, and while we FINALLY got WORDS, which is definitely a progress, that is thanks to your OUTRAGE on the various social media available to you.

Of course you should not threaten or swear to try and get what you want, but getting to warn as many people as possible and effecting their PROFITS is definitely the most EFFICIENT way of getting progress, threats and the likes are not going to help that.

Dear Bioware employees, Time is of the essence.

Diablo 3 had numerous issues at launch, and it was hailed as great disappointment much like this by a significant portion of the player-base, promises of a multiplier mode shortly after launch, the auction house destroying the game from the inside.. while the issues were EVENTUALLY fixed, it shows a significant amount either never bothered to come or simply decided that it was the last Blizzard game which they will spend money on.

Thats where you are at right now.

This are not meager "pop up" or visual bugs, this is fucked up from the inside game destroying bugs and issues, skills becoming disabled, genders being swapped in game, lack of a proper TAC means you cant play the game as it was meant to be played, etc. etc. etc.. there are no flipping excuses, it is either fix your mistakes and fast or lose a fair portion of your long time fan base.
