The problems of dirty console peasants are of no concern to the glorious PC master race :D

LOL  Look, i know this whole stereotype is ridiculous and while some people actually do partake of this kind of thinking, the vast majority realize it's simply a poorly thought out exaggeration of the situation.

But the 'dirty peasants' just always make me go here:

Now, there is no cause for name-calling. We can be civil grown-ups while still being upset.

They obviously don't feel that the state the game is in at release was being too "civil"......

A few things that has happened to me on the PC!

1: I got the DirectX Mantle error screen popup and the game crashed……..   :(

Mantle function

"grWsiWinReleaseFullscreenOwnership(displayHandle)" failed with GR_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST. GPU: "AMD Radeon R9 200 Series" (26544) Driver 188743680

Is the error I got, two copies of it, probably for both GPU's!   :(

2: I’m not so sure if it’s the game, the drivers or my card/s that’s bad or to hot that makes this happen, does anyone know?

It happens at 00:50 in the video, link below!

3: So I have this little bug, of one off my advisors are missing, Josephine. Her status says busy, but her card aren’t anywhere on the table and it’s soon been 15 hours since I sent her on a mission.

Anyone else had this problem? And how do I fix it? The save game since then does not exist anymore and I think it was the Iron bull mission with the dreadnoughts that was the point when she disappeared. I think she was looking into some agents.

I play the PC version so I tried to repair the game trough Origin, figured something went wrong after their servers had problems two days back, still didn’t help!

4: Graphics issue that I have on a specific map.

I’m adding a YouTube link, so you can see it for yourself.

Look at the moon!

These are my pc-specs:

Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit

ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z, Socket-AM3+
ATX, 990FX+SB950, DDR3, 4xG2-PCIe-x16, SLI/CFX, US

Processor: AMD FX™-8350 Eight-Core Processor. (8 CPUs), ~4.0GHz watercooled.

Kingston DDR3 HyperX Beast 32GB
2400MHz 4x8GB KIT CL11 HyperX Beast

Sapphire Radeon TRI-X R9 290X 4GB "OC" <- Two of these cards in crossfire/mantle.

Crucial M500 SSD 2.5" 480GB

SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 500MB/400MB/s read/write, w

WD VelociRaptor 1TB
10000RPM, 64MB, 3.5", SATA 6GB/s (SATA 3.0)

Cooler Master V1200, 1200W PSU
ATX 12V V2.31, 80 Plus Platinum, Modular, 12x 6+2p

Asus 24" LED VG248QE 144Mhz monitor.

So I figured I should be able to play this game on max setting with out any problems.... not so, graphics issues, stutter, flickering, bugs and all sorts of fun happen from time to time.  :(

Now I've played the game anyway, since I honestly love it, when it's not bugging out or anything!

On friday I get my new GPU watercooling kit and my new chassi. Still I doubt heating is the problem, since the only game I have these problems in, is DAI. :(

Kind Regards:

SpecH82

No matter how you feel about the game release, these are still people who have put in years of work. Without them there would be no game to complain about.

Please be respectful and mature.

Look. Ultra doesn't mean nothing. Maximum settings shouldn't be used as a comparison about performances.
I mean, if you set on the maximum MSSA and other stuff that don't improve your IQ, is normal that you have a bad frame rate.

The issue about optimization isn't related to how is powerful your PC. Because is about stuttering and tearing that affect gameplay and cutscene.

If I wanted your opinion this post would be addressed to you.

It isn't and I don't.

The ultra is an example, I should be able to play this game with maximum eye-candy and maximum performance with the hardware I have available to me.

I should not walk though Skyhold and feel like I am walking through waist-deep mud, the screen should not catch and stutter when I spin my character around, my mage should not stop mid-cast in the midst of battle waiting for (whatever it is) to catch up with the commands.

By using LMB + RMB to move my character forward means I can navigate both the camera and my character with one hand leaving my other hand free to use abilties, jump, cycle through targets, etc..

Yea, Allan. this is the key.  It allows more freedom and a choice in how to manage the different facets of combat.

Whatever the detriments may be in making this change to the current DAI build, it's hard to imagine they would outweigh the benefits.

If i remember correctly SWTOR has both, just like previous Dragon Ages too:

1. RMB clicking on the terrain and the character go there (pathfinds itself there to put it ugly), just like in tactical camera mode/view. Extra useful for looting, following enemies, attacking them. Don't understand why is this not default in third person mode/view, when it is in tactical.
2. holding RMB+LMB and navigate the character myself.

Need both of them in third person mode/view.

I absolutely do not remember 1 being in TOR. I do remember being frustrated by its absence.

On the A.I, specifically ranged characters.  I find a lot of the times they will wander up into melee range and stay there.  Is this a bug in the A.I. or a limitation of the system used that prevents them from properly retreating to range.  Also, they seem to not understand the 1st rule of proper group rpg combat of "Don't stand in the fire"

Also any plans on adding a hot swap option for weapons in combat?  Would love for my rogue to be able to change to a bow quickly mid fight, or to change to a fire damaged based staff when an enemy is immune to ice type attacks.

Finally, for PC specific, any chance you guys could give a helpful nudge on a way to get into the texture files for modding?  Not any of the proprietary tools you guys use obviously, but a few simple "maybe try going in this direction..." type of thing.  We are a week+ in now and the fact that the obligatory "lol nude mod" hasn't shown up yet has me worried about the future of the texture mods that actually add a lot of depth to the game like hair, eye, and environmental texture changes.

I bought it from Gamestop. After going into both the store and contacting their customer service line, they flat out refused to accept a return as I had already opened the game and installed it.

Is anyone else suffering the same problem as me? The game ran fine last night, usually above 30, 60 in some areas, but when I started playing again today the game suddenly ran like ass. The stuttering I usually only see when entering Skyhold's tavern is now all over the damn place. The framerate is massively inconsistent, whereas it used to be pretty smooth. I really can't play the game until this is fixed, it's just terrible.

Have you spoken to BioWare? They may be willing to help you out somehow. Maybe not a refund, but a trade or something.

I'm sorry that Gamestop won't refund you, but that isn't BioWare's fault. BioWare has been very good at refunding people who bought directly from them.

First off, why would I want to trade? If I wanted another game, I would've bought that game.

Second, it might not be their fault that I can't refund, but it's certainly their fault that the game is so broken and unplayable that I would want to refund it to begin with. They flat out should have not released this game. It was not ready in it's current unstable state, and yet they did it anyhow.

Like seriously, the game crashes to desktop every 5 minutes. How did this get passed testing?

The problem is that this issue isn't replicatable on every system. I'm on PC with no issues, like many others.

I'm sad you're having this trouble, but honestly being rude isn't going to get you anything that being nice won't.

Definitely sounds like a hardware issue rather than a game error.  Are you doing anything more advanced like overclocking and/or running a crossfire or SLI set up?  Update any drivers recently?  Using ram set to an XML profile to run at a higher speed?  Possible background programs running you didn't realize were there eating up system resources?  Did you reboot your system and end up with similar drop in FPS?

There hasn't been a patch or change to the code in the game, so if you are suddenly losing FPS the obvious answer is going to be somewhere else in your system and not the game itself.

edit:  it may even be something as simple as the ambient temp being higher than normal around the house, dust on the heat sinks causing your gpu to throttle, or any huge number of things, but my point remains, odds are it's on your end and not on the games end if your fps suddenly started tanking.

That being said, I'm not in favour of vulgarity nor personal attacks with the use of strong language, but it is not mine nor yours role to monitor behaviour of the fellow forum users.

I have bought this game a week ago, besides testing character creation, I have not played this game because of the botched character model, elf male to be precise. This particular issue has not been given even a slightest attention from the BioWare, not in this thread: http://forum.bioware...d-its-problems/nor in any other way (excuse me for nor being precise, but gentleman should not share  private correspondence),

I've experienced directx bug during character creation. Because of my region I'm forced to use polish subtitles or use bypasses. I've seen multiple videos and screenshots with registered dozens of bugs.

Unfortunately, but games are being released in worse and worse conditions. I'm not a publisher nor I should care about them. If the game is pushed for the release before its completion or testing then it is not my problem. All I care about as a recipient is the finished and smooth gameplay.

So... from what I read so far from the bioware-postings, all the people who can't even play due of these directx-issues and freezes in startmenu have to wait for a big patch that adresses alot more, instead of first making a faster little patch that actually all are able to play? :/

Well nice to hear about the patch-work-stuff, but after 1 week now I thought at least the "Some people can't play at all"-Issue would be more important than "Fixing alot of stuff alltogether" ...

Neither Allan nor Conal have yet to say anything at all regarding how big or when the first patch is coming.  Where you are getting this info from I don't know.

I had AN update, which was, ironically, the Geforce Experience optimization settings for Inquisition, although I prefer my own. I always have Task Manager open, no resource drains there. No Crossfire/SLI. I don't even know how to do the XML profile thing. I haven't rebooted my system, I'll try the game again in the morning.

GPU drivers are a little bit of a pain, if after a reboot you still experience issues I'd suggest doing a full wipe of your video drivers and then reinstalling the new Nvidia drivers.  A lot of times when you are overwriting a driver to update there will be some issues that cause things to go a little wonky.  Not 100% sure what tool to use for Nvidia, but if you google it I'm sure you can find one pretty easily.  I personally run AMDcleanuputility.exe to clear out all the old drivers to get a nice fresh install whenever updating mine.

If that doesn't help, roll back to the previous drivers you were using before and try once more.

When updating your drivers always uninstall both the PhysX and the Graphics Driver 3xx.xx for green, Catalyst Drivers for red, in your Programs and Features screen first.

Reboot, then install the new drivers.  (Do custom->clean installs, not the default.  You are not robots)
