I'm still making up my mind about this game.

1) Are there cities in this game, and if so are they bustling, lively places or are they like the other DA games where they're pretty much dead, no one really moving around, etc.

2) Are the open world areas full of things to do or just big, vast areas of nothingness?  Do you have to go off the path for anything, are there things to discover on your own that aren't involved in being sent there for a quest, etc.

Thanks for any replies.

1) Cities are pretty much as they are in DA:O. There's a ton of NPCs present which make the scenery feel somewhat alive, but you can interact with almost none of them.

2) Ohh they are overflowing with things to do. There's also a lot to discover on your own. Seriously -they are chock full of stuff.

So far I have only seen Haven, various camps, etc in the Hinterlands and a bit of The Storm Coast.  The answer to 1. is Yes.  They are quite busy.  Lots of people and lots of things going on. . Even on the roads and trails it would be hard to swing a cat and not hit someone.  I've only played 14 hours and i still have not finished exploring the hinterlands and The Storm Coast.  i think I may have missed some things in Haven as well.

The answer to 2. is the amount of quests are a bit overwhelming at first.  There are plenty of quests and side quests.  The game has several areas that have quests at varying levels.  You do not necessarily need to complete on area to move to another.  Although not all areas will open up as soon as you walk in the game.

That being said, this is not like Skyrim.  The quests, even the side quests, are all interwoven into the story line at some level.  Hope this helps.

You will get lost in The Hinterlands. I guarentee it.

Good to hear.

#1 was pretty much just hoping, I figure it is what it is as far as DA games go.

But I really was worried that the areas would be big and empty, and that there would be no reason to leave the main path.

Like what another poster said the citiee/town are similarmto DAO. The open world, however, is a lot more alive and plenty of places to discover and see. There are plenty of ways to reach your destination and its similar to Skyrim in this regard

This game really rewards you for exploring. If you wander off the path, you're sure to find quests/ caves/ loot/ etc.
