I can't ever see myself killing Hawke. She's been through so much, at least let her be able to retire in her mansion at Kirkwall and maybe give love another chance. Hopefully not a crazy person like Anders next time.

So how exactly do I banish the Wardens? I don't mind being spoiled on this. If I keep Hawke with me, will that banish them?

You have that choice as the resolution of the quest.

Oh OK. So I can save Hawke and still banish them?
Awesome.

If I have to chose between Hawke and Alistair it will be an easy one. I have no problem with Alistair but Hawke was created by me. Besides, Alistair is a Warden so his life has already be shortened. Too bad for him, but Lady Hawke is an easy choice. Besides, she finally got Isabela to "settle down."

Yes, they are independent choices in the same quest.

Warden Alistair has never happened for me. He's always drunk or king. I figured it be the same for most, but I guess not. Apparently Warden Alistair is common enough.
It's sad though that this is what a Romance with him in the Wardens comes down to. Makes me wonder how they'll punish other players with other characters one day.
If that's what they're doing, then I guess the moral of the story is don't romance anyone.

Yeah, I know. I should have never got invested emotionally with Shepard either. If I knew what was good for me, I would approach Bioware games coldly, like a Tranquil.
I'm not sure why they're compelled to put in these dilemmas. It surely can't be in the name of "realism". Because real life might be more filled with happy endings and less drama. lol.

If my life were that way I wouldn't need games to escape.

Hah. I'm not neccessarily saying real life is great. I just find it funny that it's more pleasant. I wouldn't want to be Shepard or my Warden, for example. Their life sucks -- and I don't even have it that good, honestly. ![]()
I'd really like something more uplifting from fantasy though. Not something worse than my own life.

I pity Hawke after all the crap she had to put up with in DA2. Her death will put an end to the suffering and maybe find peace in the afterlife. As for Varric...

Exactly. I like media that gives me happy endings, because that's not something you can get in real life. Not really.
So, Bioware can go and *do something* with this "realism" non-sense ![]()

Well, we can get happy endings compared to this stuff at least.
Life isn't perfect, but still. For example, my parents just celebrated their 41st anniversary. My dad had a recent scare with cancer too, but I think there's a lot to be happy about. I don't buy the whole "we're being realistic by making you miserable and taking the things you want most", because it's not realistic necessarily.

I agree, it's not necessarily realistic. Life can be pretty harsh, but there are happy moments too. It's not all about "death and despair". However, that shouldn't really matter, this is a fantasy video game, and a form of escapism for some people (including myself) so I think Bioware is just being... silly and dramatic for the sake of some ridiculous idea of "realism".
Or maybe they simply want to push down our throats the fact that Alistair can only be happy as King, and that is the only "right" choice. *groans*

I agree entirely. It's just silly.
At the same time, it's a clever way to make *some* people reconsider their choices. Agree too much with freeing mages or helping elves and potential Leliana fans will see her leave and become divine. Do something else and it's Cass. The only way to make the world stay as it is Vivienne. None of this applies to Alistair though. I guess they just put it in to balance with these others.

I can't ever see myself saving Hawke, maybe if its Stroud he's up against but otherwise no it's die hawke die! DA2 was painful, surprised how many Hawke fans are here. Sorry Varric, but like The Highlander 2's Connor MacLeod, I'd rather pretend Hawke never happened.

Not too hard for me, Alistair is almost always king in my pt's and I have no poblem sacrificing Loghain in the playthroughs where he's a warden (like my curent one) it seems his end is supposed to be ![]()

Hawke wasn't the reason DA2 was painful. Hawke, especially a sarcastic Hawke, was not a bad character (at least in my opinion, your mileage will definitely vary and I'm not the type to say 'if you don't agree with me you are wrong'.). My problem in DA2 was how you were completely railroaded through the entire story and there was no way, no way at all, to get a 'happy ending'. Hawke spent all of the third chapter stuck between a rock and a hard place and no matter who you support, it's a disaster. Especially since both the bosses were lunatics. You support the mages and Orsino STILL turns into that weird as hell abomination. You support the Templars and Meredith STILL tries to kill you.
The most obvious railroading of the plot began in chapter one with Sister Petrice and the Sarabas. I resented her in subsequent playthroughs because there was no way, NO WAY to avoid her or to significantly affect that part of the story. It didn't get much better from there.
That said, I love Alistair and could never sacrifice him. Guess it's a good thing i made him King. ![]()

I agree with you. I really liked my sarcastic Hawke. The biggest problem with DA2 was that after Chapter 2 I could just say screw it and leave Kirkwall.

Select Hawke or Loghain / Alistair / Strout: It's written that they likely die. So they'll survive. It'd be a stupid otherwise, having so much history and then they'd die after beating this huge spider :/

I feel like because it's Hawke that he/she would some how survive and find a way out, obviously they didn't in game but idk Hawke always seemed lucky to me ![]()
