Worst part being if you got Carver or Bethany killed in the Deep Road then that the entire Hawke family dead....
Welp good thing my Hawke won't die
Anyone know who Varric writes a letter to if there's no LI and both siblings are dead? Aveline?

Don't forget, in the game it says the person you picked will 'likely' die, and you never see them die, they're still fighting the giant spider when you leave the area, and given that both Hawke and Alistair are extremely important characters in the DA Universe, there's no logical reason to believe they're actually dead. They basically had the 'Grunt' scene from ME3, where it 'seemed' like he would probably end up dead, up against overwhelming odds and sacrificing himself for Shepard and her team, but in the end he lived too. So all that really matters is which one you want to still be 'obviously' alive for the rest of the game
. I chose Hawke, it was a tough choice but I didn't want to leave Hawke's location 'unknown' for 2 straight games
.
I kept the wardens and Hawke died... and Varric stayed.
Yeah, didn't know this was even an issue.
You don't lose Varric he just gets depressed.
So i choose Loghain and allied with the wardens. Hawke is still alive and Varric stayed with me. I'm really happy about it ![]()
Hawke and Varric friends . Chose Stroud . Still had Varric .
Yea, well, sh*t... I had to save Hawke. Although I'm pretty convinced that the left option is the "right/lawful one" in most of those "option 1 or 2" situations, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Worst thing was that i received a letter from my warden before the Abyss part. She was asking to keep Alistair safe before she didnt want to lose him to the Inquisition when she was just about to find a way to remove their Grey Warden curse. No way I could sacrifice him after that.
...Cried so much when thinking of Fenris receiving the news....
I hated this so much. I am totally bent on approvals and after some major judgement I am barely able to get what happened as the text flies by.
I told Hawke to stay, but I meant, stay with the group and you Stroud go kill the big, creepy spider. ooops
I also kept the wardens because they work for me in principal, Sara was very upset about this all, but with her manner and accent I am still unsure if I got approval or not, lol. I use her and Dorien and Blackwell for my main team
I am going to do a replay or two to see if I can work this mess out

I got that letter when I got back to Skyhold. After leaving Alistair to die in the Fade. I almost reloaded a save on the spot, but ultimately decided against it. So yeah, I can't stop thinking about how the Warden will react to the news. I'm thinking Leliana would take some time off to track her down and give her the sad news personally ![]()
I wonder how many Alistair fangirls are biting their nails right now? They usually said they keep him an warden because that's what he wants. Well, you didn't pay the price back then but you pay it now, one way or the other. It would be quite the twist however, if the current warden or Hawke that got left behind miraculously show up in the sequel alive.
I think if anyone could make it out of the Fade after fighting giant nightmare spider it would be Hawke. Hawke just was that character that seemed to be able to keep on ticking after every beating.
If, by some chance in a future game you do get a Hawke that makes it out that would be phenomenal and would perhaps warrant altering a world state in the Keep for a playthrough just to see it. However, I doubt it.
I'm really annoyed now - I guess we're being railroaded into 'Alistair is either king or dead' and I don't like it one bit >
Oh well. If that's how it's done, on to the Keep it is.
I was perfectly happy to leave Hawke in the Fade, so didn't feel railroaded at all.
Varric didn't leave in my playthrough.
I thought this would be a fairly easy choice, because I have a serious Alistair obsession. So I left Hawke to fight the spider, but as she leaps off she's all, "Sorry Fenris" and I just LOST IT. Then telling Varric afterwards, THEN him saying he'd better be the one to tell Fenris... THE FEELS. BIOWARE WHY.

Sera approved of allying with the Grey Wardens in my playthrough. Considering what happened to Denerim, it makes sense to me.
Hmm after all I only read "I had to save Hawke instead of Stroud" but did I just miss something what Hawke says "you must stay alive (Stroud)", because the Warden must be rebuild? What about that point? That doesn't means I am against to save Hawke :S maybe I just don't see something.
Ok. So I had both Hawke and Loghain go into the Fade with me. Who I picked to be a hero in the Fade was a hard choice. Hawke was my character in DAII while Loghain is one of my favorite characters in Thaedas (because I read the Stolen Throne before DAO).
I ended up having Hawke be the hero in the Fade. Varric was upset, but he stayed with the Inquisition. At the end of the game, he did mention he would return to Kirkwall.
Kudos to Bioware. I expected Hawke to show up in some form, but Loghian in the game was a great surprise, as was Leiliana's romance with the Warden referenced and ongoing.
I left Alistair in fade to see what Varrics reaction would be, and now he's on antidepressants because the last heir of King Calenhad died ? This is odd...basically he is depressed even if Hawke lives.
