Sorry, but

Has anybody else done this and kept going? It would be nice if this were recognized in a cutscene or dialogue. If not I'll just reload.
EDIT (SPOILERS, NATURALLY): Right, so I apparently overwrote my Skyhold autosave, and the previous save is over two hours ago. I'm not back-tracking that far, so if any dialogue pertaining to the loss comes up, or even a damned codex, I'll mention it so that those in the same predicament will at least have the information out there to stumble across.
So far I've talked to a number of companions around the castle since and its business as usual. There is no inclination whatsoever that her clan was just wiped out. That kind of makes it worse; the zero acknowledgement, given how the clan had been referenced at multiple points prior.
^ No kidding. You'd think someone would at least mention something. That said, even though my most recent save before that is about three hours before I found out what happened, I'll probably backtrack and do things over again just because I'm so completely unhappy with how things turned out. Plus my Inquisitor is heartbroken, and I don't want that!

I'm really unimpressed with the Operations system in general because of this. It actually makes the world feel less alive, not more. I know what it's trying to accomplish for the sake of flavor, but a lot of this stuff has actual roleplaying implications. Those implications don't feel even a little real because 1). you don't participate in them at all, 2). no one seems to reference any of them, and 3). some of the options that seem to work best will create precisely the outcome you don't want. If you are like me and a hardcore RPer, the clan ended up dead just because I refused to accept what I believed to be the worst option in one part of the chain, which is referenced further in my spoiler.
So there's nothing to be done about it, then? Who thought ones origin didn't make any difference what so ever in the end. ![]()
so it´s another point where BioWare fail to recognize of what´s important for thier fans...
so it´s another point where BioWare fail to recognize of what´s important for thier fans...
Or it could be some of the fans not taking the whole "actions have consequences" thing...
Granted it has no consequence on the actual game besides making the player feel bad for choosing the wrong thing, but it's still a consequence for a choice.
Unless we don't like those...
The part where Bioware failed is apparently nobody seems to even care that your entire clan was wiped out (not even the Inquisitor!). That's really stupid.
Kind of like DAO when people talk to you about their problems when your family has just been wiped out? Or when people say cruel things to you and your party doesn't notice or you just found everyone you ever knew possessed or dead in the tower? (Though I'll give Morrigan credit, if she's with a dwarven commoner when you run into your mother in Orzammar's palace, she sympathizes. Odd that she was almost the only moment of awareness about the Warden.)
Okay I'm not very far into the game and so far I've only had the mission to reassure the clan Lavellen is okay. I went with Josie as sending an elven scribe seemed like the reasonable choice but is this a quest chain where if you don't choose the right advisor each time your clan gets killed or is 'Restore Order in Wycome' a standalone and if you want to save them send Leliana?
I picked Cullen to pacify the place and I had to reload.
I was pretty far along the storyline and it still happened.

By LUCK I picked Cullen because my other advisors were busy, and I got them on my side!
Clan Lavellan can have a happy ending.

Thank you!
Thank you!
You're welcome. ![]()
I must have sent Cullen because my clan is alive and well.
Huh. So there are consequences for assigning an ill-suited advisor to a mission. I wouldn't know because I'm apparently a tactical genius.
