Hey I'm wondering about bows.

 

I've had the Longbow of the Griffon for a while now, 147 damage (168 DPS) 11% armor penetration, 42% attack, fires 3 shots.

 

But I just got the Firm Winged Longbow which is level 23 common, but it does 151 DPS with 27% armor penetration. Now I'm unsure about this bow because I've tested other weapons with armor penetration and it doesn't seem to make as much of a difference as raw DPS, and what I've read in threads on the forum confirms this. 

 

What do you guys think? Should I use one of my Superb runes on the Griffon or is there a better bow out there?

 

Go ahead with the Griffon, it's the best bow currently.

 

Also, you should go read this guide: http://forum.bioware...and-mechanics/ . You'll find out that %Attack is better than %Armor Penetration. So while Firm Winged Longbow is nice, Griffon is 10x better.

God, i wish i would get anything but runes.. Sitting on atleast 40 superb runes by now... Only 1 unique weapon though - punched by the maker.

Superb Fire Rune (x2)
Superb ring of barrier penetration (x2)
Tongue of serpents (my second)
Thunderstrike (mace)
Staff of the void

On top of:
Stormbreaker
The sunless staff
Dirthamen's Wisdom
Tyrdda's Staff
Glittering Darmallon
Nameless Blade
Tongue of serpents (The first purple I obtained)
Superb belt of healing
Superb ring of attack
Superb ring of armor penetration

There were a couple other level 5-9s but I salvaged them couple weeks back.

I do not wan't to be this lucky.. 9 in one day is too much!

oh, I have spend close to 150,000 gold from matches.. so bout.. 120 chests purchased not including the purples obtained from in game chests.

I am actually rather hesitant to keep playing this evening in case I get the axe of green edges, caliburn (?) or mage hunter shield.

I got a lvl 22 blue Mindchill staff from one of the reward chests last night. Not uber but the only "good" weapon I've gotten so far so can't complain too much. Pity I don't play casters.

I'm was pretty excited to finally have found a Longbar blade, why? Well it's the strongest 2hander that can be modded with grip pommel. Which means? Mighty Stagger. Replaced my Hoss Twainer with it, on second thought the attack animation on its first strike seems quite a bit slower leading to massively lower dps.

 

Ofcourse if I want stagger there's always the mighty Spoon but alas that's a Hammer, no AoE carnage (I really need the AoE, considering I like running Perilous or solo Threathening).

What class do you play?

 

I found that playing mages would give me items for warriors/archers, and that playing archers would give me stuff for mages

Got some pretty decent stuff in my 100 chest spree I'll be uploading a video of pretty soon.

 

Man, those unique daggers are INSANE! They do 100 DPS more than my level 20 rares! All I need now are those unique daggers, Caliban, not sure I care about the mace that casts chain lightning because it's slightly weak (being a mace and all), that unique greatsword, a unique staff and the unique shields.

 

I did manage to pull:

 

• Dwarven Longsword, 188 DPS rare sword lv22, 169 damage, 34% armor penetration, +30 guard max, on hit gain 3 guard
• Dwarven Proving Shield: 28 Armor Rating rare shield lv22, 30% front defense, 8% ranged defense, 5% extra damage for each enemy within 8 meters
• Song of the Marshes 248 DPS unique axe level 20, 170 damage, 12% critical damage bonus, 14 strength, on hit 10% chance to apply poison
• Mindchill Staff item level 22, 65 cold damage, 2% chance to cast mind blast (not sure what other stats are without my upgrades)

Other than that, just got another Coiled Strike dagger around 300 DPS, and an AoE dagger that does 232 DPS and is level 22, Staff of the Dynamo I'm not sure about because the damage is low but it has a 20% damage bonus if not being hit for 5 seconds. Might be worth it on Keeper or something, doubt it though.

 

Not to mention some great gear like ability rings and a superb belt of healing, etc.

Only jelly of the CD amulet. I'm stuck with the blue scrub one... I have all the rest.

I think thats one of the few things I need for an inventory of the best uniques. Only short of Caliban, Punched by the maker, the CD amulet and Pyre of the Forgotten. It's been that way for over 200k gold and over a 100 prestige levels btw.

Not a rare but pretty decent imo. Not sure how much additional benefits the +17 Dexterity and +7 Strength gives, but I seem to 1-HKO most normal mobs on Silver with the Long Shot when over 15 meters, and having that skill upgraded mean pretty much everyone in a line dies more or less!

gotten many purple, level 1-14

gotten 1 good purple and that is the dagger that I have now that does 388 dps and 10% chain lightning
my 1 handed is a grey item, an axe with 250 dps lol

this rng have to go, they have to tweak it somehow and stop giving us item level 1 when we have leveled every character past 20 more than once

why is everyone running around with Longbow of the griffon, is it a pre order thingy ?
if you play with 10 ppl that use bow, 8 out of these 10 use Longbow of the griffon
