Hi team,

Can we just get the ability to rename the default characters? With all these syncing issues, and some Origin/ II profiles being read-only, profiles not being uploaded in the past effecting the syncing today, I think some of us would just be happy knowing our silent hero and Hawke was named by us.

I don't feel any desire to start playing until I get some semblance of my hero being involved in the story, even if it has no effect on the outcome. Please? The Keep is really just a placebo to placate those of us who feel a sense of ownership with our Hero of Ferelden and Hawke, right? I appreciate the attempt to make this all work, but it isn't working.

Thank you,

~Kaze

I believe you could change the name if you synced your own characters. Well, if you lose your saves, that will be the case.

The Keep is also to replace importing, which had lots of problems. Also, now you can play Inquisition differently without replaying the earlier games.

Not if it didn't sync. Sorry, I should've been more specific. I meant just changing the default character names if the sync does not work, and from the looks of it, success isn't 100%.

I wouldn't mind revisiting the older games. It is a neat shortcut, but I was under the impression that this world would eventually be built upon the foundation that my character (me vicariously), and while the choices can be made again via the Keep, my syncs aren't working, and I'd imagine a lot of other people's syncs aren't working either. I was just suggesting they add the option to the Keep.

Like many people I made a similar suggestion when I first joined the Keep, about a week before the Beta went from closed to open.

I understand there are technical problems with giving us the ability to name our Wardens and Hawkes within the Keep itself but, given the vast number of problems associated with syncing (not all BW's fault, it has to be said), I'm now even more of the view that - no matter how difficult it might be - it would almost certainly be simpler to add this functionality than continuing to pretend that syncing can ever be resolved for everyone who still has problems. There are just too many different issues, too many different reasons for them and, as I say, too many of them outside BW's control.

All things considered, I'd like to endorse Kaze's suggestion and repeat my request for the ability to rename our Wardens and Hawkes to be implemented as soon as possible. It simply cannot be more difficult than getting syncing to work as it's supposed to for everyone.

Oh I wasn't disagreeing on the name change, but the premise of your second paragraph about the purpose of the Keep was incorrect. That's all I was saying. As far as revisiting the older games, do you really want to HAVE to go replay both if you want to change things up for another playthrough of the new game you just bought?

If the impression hadn't been made that choices made in the other two games could/would carry over into the next game, the Keep would not exist, most likely Bioware would just say go buy the old game and play it like any other game company, or utilize a narrative hook with exposition at some of the key points in the other two for new players. That's why I have a strong feeling that the Keep was made primarily to placate. --Don't get me wrong. I'm truly grateful they put the time into trying to make it happen, and I understand the inability to make it compatible with whatever engine/software they created Inquisition on. It's new tech, I get it.

I love the old games, more Origins than II, and really have lived as a gamer mostly on Bioware games: KOTR and Jade Empire included, so I don't mind playing through again when I feel the need to. I play through my games once non-stop then on and off again once I've beaten it.
