Can anybidy explain to me how the resolution scale graphics slider differs from the overall resolution setting?  Is one better off keeping the resolution at native, and sliding the resolution scale down a bit, and if so how much is comparable to dropping the resolution one level below native?

The slider is for downsampling the 3D rendered graphics while keeping the 2D one's scaled to your native resolution. Say you have a 1080p monitor but you want to play at 720p to get better performance. You don't want the text/menus to be stretched and bad looking so you reduce the percentage on the slider while keeping res at 1080p to get the same performance boost as using 720p.

If you want to figure out the percentage that's being lost exactly you'll have to do a few calculations. I'm assuming it's being based on the height alone but I could be wrong. (i.e. 1080 times .70 = 756 and not the total pixels of 1920x1080 (which is 2,073,600) times .70)

It lowers the resolution of the game without lowering the resolution of the ui, so you still get to see all your text and numbers crystal clear.

Thanks.  I fiddled around with it a bit, and I can't say I've noticed any performance improvement worth the loss of fidelity.
