Has anyone figured out how to do the elven ritual in the ruins in Brecilian Forest? Can't find the altar I'm supposed to use anywhere, and trying to follow the pictograph's directions without one doesn't seem to do the trick.

Edit: No, please don't answer. I don't know how I missed it... tucked away just off to the side.

I could use some help with this one. I have a jug of water, and found a Broken Stone Alter, but all it says is that there is an indentation where something goes. I don't see how to place the water or whatever it is I'm supposed to do.

Edit: Ugh, wrong alter.  Found the right one.

Search the room with the pool of water *very* carefully. The alter's in there, in the recess of one of the walls.

so what does that do? I tried an error several times

I took the jug, filled it with water then placed the jug on the altar, examine the jug, then *sipped* alittle water form the jug. shades appear. killed the shades....

i took the jug, fill it with water, then i place the jug on the altar, in which i selected to examine the jug,  knelt at the altar then drink from the jug *fully*. then theres this green smoke. then green smoke fades.....

but what does all these does? it doesnt give me any items or activate any subquest? Image IPB

well.. you are supposed to open the door... you have to fill the jug, put it on the altar, kneel and pray, then sip the jug, then take the jug back tot he pool and empty the rest of the water back into the pool.. ifyou do it in that order the door will open. and you get to fight a ghost lady with demons! =)

Ok, I've done it in exactly that order and no luck; as soon as I kneel and pray the water jets out as steam.

I fill jug.

I place jug on altar.

I pray.

Jug's empty, so I refill.

I place it on altar.

I take sip.

I pray or don't pray (neither changes what happens next)

I pour water back into fountain (and have poured it on the altar)

and... NOTHING.

I think it's broken for some people. I can't seem to get past the praying part because the water in the jug disappears in a jet of steam after I pray so I can't take a sip from it. I've tried various combinations and short of not praying, I have no water left inside the jug to pour back into the fountain. Anyone figured out how to get around this?

The problem seems to be, that in my case, the water ALL steams out the jug when I pray. Maybe a new run (since I've saved out in camp) will work. Otherwise, I'll have to do without the Juggernaut set :(.

Its not broken -- yer doing it wrong

Fill the jug, place the jug on altar, kneel and pray, take jug, empty jug in the pool. Dont worry about drinking it

You have to "sip" the water, not drink it all.

I found out that you have to have looted a tablet(book?) from a nearby sarcophagus and in your inventory before this part completes correctly. If it's in your inventory, there's no steam and disappearing water.

it's also possible you're bugged...my first playthrough I was...I did the ritual EXACTLY like I've done it in (now my 3rd) subsequent plays...and on my first..soon as I pray (after putting water filled jug on alter) I got attacked....trying again only made the water evaporate but no enemy spawns...resulting in an empty jug...

so yah you could be bugged...no real way out of it without a reload form somewhere back (and hoping it's not a bugged save also)

I had some trouble with this one, and I haven't seen the complete solution written here yet, so here's the 'missing bit':

Before tyou can complete the ritual, you need to find a tablet from the sacophagus as mentioned by skiwolf7. It won't work before that.

The Sarcophagus is *before* the room with the fountain and altar.

From the lower level entrance, follow the corridoor, around one left turn. It opens out into a square room with a circular raised area (can't remember what's in it). There are small rooms to the left and right; the right hand one has a sarcophagous containing the tablet and a gift for Wynne.

Once you have the tablet you can do the ritual as per the journal.

Fill jug

Put on altar

Pray

Sip from the jug

Empty the jug into the fountain

Note that completing the ritual involves more dialogue options than the list shows. You have to pick the jug up, fill it, leave the fountain, etc. The list just shows the essential stages of the ritual.

Saving first is a good idea.

I couldn't get it to work at all, even though I knew the steps to take, until I went and found the actual pictogram/tablet I was supposed to be following.
