Other squad members can use AI hacking+combat drone
It appears that the engineers unique ability is cheaper research :/ which is pointless once you've researched everything
I know you can change class but I dont want biotics dammit!

I don't see why people are complaining, each class has a unique power now, that actually is interesting, instead of (for the engineer) just having access to both AI hacking and neural shock at the same time, actually getting an extra gun/ally is far more usefull.thecamel5555 wrote...
yeah but the other squad members aren't playable,
so if you wanna use the drone or ai hacking yourself
which does seem a little stupid, but bioware did state that the drone is the super special power so "shrug"

Because tech armor does not fit the engineer playstyle of controlling the battlefield like combat drone does. Tech armor makes the sentinel far more of a swiss army knife, as advertised in both games, survivability, tech, and biotics all in one. hope this helped
For one thing tech armor is a replacement for barrier I think, and getting another ally who takes all the hits and is a good destraction can be just as good as being a tank, if that is how you want to play. Onto the adept thing, Adepts are biotic masters with PHYSICS, yes charge is sort of physics related, but it is too high risk for adepts, who most likely stay back, instead of being in your face without a shotgun, a must for any in your face actionpedesh wrote...

Yes but engineers should get the best TECH stuff, it just makes sense
For that matter adepts should get charge

You know what tech power the engineer should have had? Sabotage, that's what. Being able to stop an enemy from shooting at you for a period of time seems like way more of a "battlefield control" power than the ability to debuff enemies with protection. I don't know why they got rid of that one, it was my favorite tech power in ME1.
Enemy sniper giving you trouble? No problem! Shut him up with this handy little power, while you bring the hurt on his buddies without fear of getting one-shotted!

Engineers still have this ability. It's been folded into the Overload ability from rank 3/4 and shuts a weapon down for 6 seconds. It works too. Admittedly 6 secs is a lot shorter than 25secs from ME1, but your skills recharge quick, so you can keep spamming it.

If you really want to use Combat Drone, you have to use it yourself. The squadmates' drones are poor substitutes with their painfully long cooldowns.
And in some situations Combat Drone adds much more survivability than Tech Armour. YMIR mechs come to mind.
