Hi,

I play on PC, I enjoy the game so far, much better than DA:2. Much like other PC users I find the control scheme to be really difficult to use, as if it's designed specifically for a gamepad and ported over poorly. However, what I want to talk about is a far simpler problem.

I would like to remove the quest tracker from the top right corner of the screen. It's VERY large and obtrusive, even on a 27" screen running at 2K resolution. At the moment I'm having to manually turn off whichever quest is active in order to get rid of it.

I understand that in recent years games like this have taken to babysitting players who aren't used to the genre, but I would really like the option to turn it off. Given that the markers remain on the minimap regardless, it just seems like a useless, superfluous addition to an already crowded UI.

Thanks for reading this, and I look forward to a fix!

Is there not an option that can be checked that allows it to fade away? I marked whatever that option is but I can't check what it does right now.

There is one to hide (always off/contexual) the portraits/health bars on the left... and there is another check box to fade the quest tracker on the right when not in use. Now we need the same SWTOR patch that allowed players to re-arrange the screen anyway you wanted... I'm dreaming  :wizard:

Honestly, the OP's description of babysitting the player is spot on with this. What possible reason would I want some big, obtrusive panel covering up more of the game world as I explore? Especially when I have the map, as well as an entire journal with which to view current quests and their descriptions?

Again, this is the type of thing that only gets missed if your QA is rushed and told to only look for game-breaking bugs and ignore the smaller things because the deadline is coming.

Lazy programming is lazy.

the thing that I don't like about it, is that I can't have more then one quest set to active and displayed. Often when I am in an area I am doing multiple quests at once. I like to have them more then one displayed while questing.

DA2 had the health in the lower left, small, easy to use close to the spell bar. I can agree that why make such a pretty game and cover it up... oh yeah, for the consoles. They need a giant hud so they can see the tv from the couch, lol.

You can in-fact hide it so that it only shows when you've completed part or all of it

I thought I saw a tick box for that in the options, but I haven't started playing yet so not seen it in action.

I'm not a fan of the quest tracker, either.  To me, it seems like a half-baked feature that is missing most of the functionality that a good quest tracker (on PC, at least) should have.  For example, you cannot click on the quest to take you to the corresponding journal page, and you can only track one quest at a time.  Given the inadequacies of the current quest tracker, I would honestly prefer to be without it.

Edit: Wasn't aware of the "Quest tracker fades while inactive", that removed the quest tracker in my game completely, yay! :D

Go to options->user interface and check the box labeled 'quest tracker fades while inactive.'

You're welcome.

Pretty much my reaction in the first hours of Inquisition ^_^ Well that and some  , 'cause the game is still amazing in many regards - just needs a little fixing is all...

Wasn't the goal, just thought it easier to copy/paste :P Either way, I've edited the post seeing as I now know how to make that ugly quest tracker go away, well, for the most part ;)

To all those saying that you can check that the box fades away, this doesn't work as you might think was intended.

If quests are INACTIVE, it doesn't show anything. This means that to get rid of that box, I have to manually find the quest in my journal and set it inactive in order to remove the box. Worse, this doesn't work all the time, usually requiring me to toggle it on and off at least twice.

It's super annoying!

After some testing I can't really figure out what checking that box actually does. Sometimes the tracker fades, other times it doesn't, seemingly with no pattern. I'm trying super hard to ignore it, but I'm pretty anal about stuff like that. I'd love to at least downsize the UI/HUD.

A more PC friendly user interface would be nice.
