Same thing happened to me. You need to download the latest patch in order for it to work. Once I did, it was fine.

I managed to sort it on that day. I downloaded the patch but it didn't work, so I downloaded the whole thing again and luckily it sorted it. Thanks though.  :)

For the people who asked: basically what I did to fix my xbox one shitty graphical glitchbugfreeze was a complete uninstall and a very clean re-install. That DOES NOT work the same way as for the xbox 360, although, the same principle can be applied. I suggest a complete uninstall and a fresh install plus all patches and whatever DLCs you choose to have, at once. Then fire the thing up, load your saves and see what's happened.

The process for the xbox one is very long, arduous and tedious, but it works. Several key points to keep in mind (some also for 360s):

1. Xbox Live now saves in the Xbox Cloud. Which practically means that local saves aren't needed and sometimes can become a liability. So, before an uninstall, log in your account, and MAKE SURE you sync your saves with the Dragon Age Server, so it saves all your saves in the cloud.

2. Afterwards, depending on which console you have, either go to your storage and remove all saves manually, delete them from within the game or, if on xbone, from the "manage game" go all to the right where it says game data and clear all game data. Alternatively you can go to system -> storage and clear all local data from there.

3. Xbone has this thing about keeping some installation files on memory/drive, much like it sometimes happens on PCs, so it is suggested that you should go to system->storage->persistent memory and clear persistent memory. It allegedly removes conflicting files and so forth. Doesn't hurt.

4. Uninstall absolutely everything DA:I related, reboot the console. I hard-started it actually, lol.

5. Check to see if you've got all console updates, which you probably do, but just in case.

6. Reinstall. If you simply can't do it from the servers, and you have to do it from the disk, so be it, but it'd be better to let them install from their servers. Newer files all around. It takes triple the time, but it's more solid. Let all DLCs install and ALL PATCHES install, this is important. The newest patch if applied before the BE saves alot of issues, for example.

7. Once it finishes reinstalling, it'll start syncing your DA:I data with the cloud, that's what gets you your saves back, so let it. If it pops up an error, restart the console and let it sync again, till it's fully synced.

I hope all those help some people or at least give some people an idea or two about what to do, cause, if I judge by my experience, good effing luck trying to get tech support to  support  you.

Ok, new game breaking bug. I'm not sure what happened but suddenly, across all saves, every single weapon just stopped dealing any damage. Literally the damage pops up saying 0, mage abilities sometimes show as dealing 1 damage. Has this happened to anyone else?

Edit: also returned to Skyhold to find that half of my party members are now missing armor and weapons. What. The. Hell.

SPOILER FREE: So I've got to the end, and... there was quite a good twist. But man that last boss fight was rushed, not very satisfying and a right-trigger spam fest that was easy to win even on nightmare. Not that I'm that bothered by the combat in this game anyway- I come for the characters more than anything... Also still can't complete Ferelden Lock and a number of other requesitions for the usual bad game design decisions/glitches. Now I'm wrestling with the moral dilemma of Jaws of H. I want to play it but since all the ferago with this game on old gen, pc and even new gen consoles I'm loathe to give Biofail one more red cent. Am I morally bankrupt if I do?

I say go for it if you have the heart playing things after the actual game ending. I have the DLC but I didn't complete it with my main. I will complete it before Coryphispit in the next playthrough cause it doesn't make sense to me afterwards. Personally though, at the present time I'm gonna return to Witcher 2 and finish it, so I get Witcher 3 some time soon. I was waiting to hear people's reactions and I have yet to see a negative review, so, for now I'm gonna be shifting my attention to there. I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware releases another DLC soon, in light of W3 though, lol. Let's see how much that breaks peoples' games...

Okay, so I'm foolishly considering buying the last gen version. Are issues fixed enough yet that textures at least render and the game doesn't constantly freeze anymore and there aren't any old-gen specific game breaking bugs and you can get all conversations with your companions because the dialogue doesn't get stuck anymore?

I don't want constant freezing, I want textures loading to be at least tolerable, I want to get every conversation possible and complete them all, and I don't want a playthrough ruined because of glitches. Will I still have all those problems even after this long?

It's little hard to say cause Bioware hasn't out right stated at all that any patch will fix old gen stuff and what they will fix. There is also some inconsistency with old gen versions, some say they can't even play the game and some just have little problems.

I don't personally have much problems with PS3. I have some hard freezes that require reboot, usually in first 30 hours of game, approxiamately every 5 hour, sometimes more and sometimes less. When I got Skyhold there were lot less freezing and eventually from mid to late game I didn't get any. Textures usually render in the end, but it will take sometime. I think newest patch at least for me corrected texture rendering when equipping stuff, usually it rendered character texture by texture, when I played after patch it rendered whole thing, but the loading time was still as big. You will likely face some texture-pop-in's too especially on cutscenes so sometimes characters have eyebrowns going on/off and so on. But not anything game breaking for me, it's still quite enjoyable.

Um... I edited, in case you missed it. I edited it to ask if the skipped or stuck conversation glitch was still in too. That one is probably one of the biggest deal breakers for me, I don't play DA to not get dialogue.

Oh, and is the text size still too abysmally small? I have a 43 inche plasma (native 720p though), but I heard even people with good HDTV's can't read the text in the last gen versions.

I haven't really got that clitch other than maybe one or two times. Where it skipped small part of dialogue, nothing too buggy for me.

Depends what you consider small and where you play (how close tv). I think it's readable, but it's noticeably small though you can change subtitles to larger (doesn't affect codexes, wartable texts, conversation wheel text etc., only spoken dialogue text.

Gamestop allows full refunds for used games if returned within a week, just called and asked. So I guess if I don't like it, all I lost was time as long as I decide whether I dislike it or not within 7 days. Guess I'll do the stupid thing and go buy it. Either I regret it and take it back within a week, or I like it and keep it.

...Ugh, I hope this goes better than one I bought Ninja Gaiden 3. That was the last time I was this worried about a game doing nothing more than making regret buying it. And I did indeed regret buying it. This better not be a repeat of that time.

Textures for zones won't load and/or enemies are invisible in multiplayer, rendering me 99% useless, forcing me to be a revive machine only. That's a recent issue for me after a month of play.

Bumping this because it has been almost a week since the last post, and these issues should be addressed at least to some extent.  Or, if they are not going to be addressed, we paying customers at least deserve to be told as much.

Bioware never fixed the DA2 dlc save corruption bug so I doubt they will ever fix much of these issues.

Then Bioware should at least have the integrity to say as much, instead of simply (for the large part) ignoring this thread.  I and many others are fine with being told either none of these issues will be addressed or a majority will not be addressed.  What we aren't fine with is complete silence (on the part of Bioware) on the matter.  As it stands now, I will likely purchase most of the reasonably priced single-player DLC (for DAI) and finish my current playthru on Xbox 360.  But, when I upgrade to an Xbox One I won't be purchasing DAI for that system.  And if anyone asked me whether or not they should purchase DAI, I would tell them to wait for a good sale or wait for the inevitable GOTY version; that will likely include the base game and all available DLC.

I'd like to point out that the game makes an annoying noise when playing for a long period of time and I don't know if it will damage my PS3.

The smooshy face bug happens a lot on my 360. I've taken to retelling Inquisition where Corpyheus draws his power from consuming textures. I also like to shout THEY TOOK MY FACE when a very low res character (usually Cullen) is on screen.

Also, buildings don't load and I fall through the floor a lot.

Just bought this game last month as a birthday present to myself, and so far I've been having a pretty good experience with it. The only glitches I'd come across were the audio muddling up and textures and stuff not rendering completely before the scenes start, but nothing that completely ruined things for me.

That changed today. I just finished Here Lies the Abyss, and now the game keeps freezing up my console whenever I try to judge Erimond and/or give Cole his quest item. I have to shut down the console entirely to get it to work again. I'm slowly making my way through the thread looking for any answers, but just in case anyone else can help and save me some time I thought I'd post.

I'm on an xbox 360, and I've got a physical copy of the game. Not sure what version of the console it is, we've had it for a handful of years now and I've forgotten. I saw it suggested to delete and reinstall the game, which I'm willing to do, but will that delete all my progress, too? I've got over 100 hours logged thanks to obsessively completing all the sidequests along the way, I really don't want to have to redo it all :( I thought I could just get by with never judging Erimond, but Cole is my favorite character and not completing his quest is not even an option.

So, to sum up: I'm on an xbox 360. If I delete/reinstall the game, will that delete all my data? Is there some other option I can try that might help the freezing? I'm still going to look through the rest of the thread, but any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I've had the Erimond bug and restarting the console seems to solve it, if not try doing a side quest and coming back.

I found a trick that seems to work with Cole, partly based on the Wiki page solution. Once you have the amulet stand at the top of the stairs near him and wait. It might take some time but you need a distinctive red light to come on near where Cole is standing, once that comes on it should be safe to talk to him.

I concur, but I doubt we are ever going to get any response from them on any old gen issues. They have avoided us like the plague and everything in the gaming world is going to be focused on new gen now. It would be/have been nice to have at least got a "sorry we aren't fixing any of this, so you can stop waiting around" but instead they swept us under the rug, and completely wrote us off.

I am going to delete all my DAI files and do a clean install, but if I end up with the same conundrums as before, I am finished with this game. If not, I will attempt one playthrough, beat the game on PS3, and be done with it. I will definitely not be purchasing it on new gen when I upgrade (might buy GOTY, but very undecided at this point, all things considered) and am obliged to tell others to do the same as well.

Thank you for the advice! I'll try the thing with Cole C: Unfortunately, I've done a couple of side quests and Erimond still breaks things. It'd be awesome to kill him myself, but it's not a huge loss for me. Fingers crossed that this works for Cole, at least!

edit three hours later and it still isn't working. really let down right now.
