I'm still iffy should I buy the game or not for my PS3. I don't think I will be able to buy it anywhere where I could get refund if the game is unplayable on my console. And I wouldn't want to throw 60 euros away either. In other hand I have been spoiled about this game so much already and I want to experience how awesome it is myself (I'm so jealous for everyone who got well-working version of the game!). Sigh, struggle is real.
Old gen (PS3 and XBOX360) master thread, Bioware please fix these issues!

I'll have to throw my lot in and say that the text size NEEDS to be increased. I'm on a nice 42-inch HDTV, and my 360 is connected to it via HDMI cable, so there's no problem there, but the text is just too darn small. I shouldn't have to park myself about five feet from the screen just to start being able to read the text properly. I'm actually kind of glad I don't have my 360 hooked up to my lil' 22" HDTV in my bedroom. I can't imagine how hard it would be to read on those.
Other than textures occasionally going super low-res, that's about the only problem I've encountered so far.

I Know that feel bro. You seem to be enthusiastically trying to get it working on ps3(from all your posts since release date). If you played games like skyrim on ps3 where it took more than six months to patch game breaking lags and then the 1.9 stable update came a whole year later!!(2013) I have been through that and it was bad. This is not even close to being that bad. You can put in a lot of hours and even temporarily avoid Forbidden Oasis. However if you, like me have plans of getting next gen anytime soon, you will repent it i suppose. TBH being a PS3 RPG player for a long time, this game is in the range of "acceptable at launch". (I can already imagine the incoming volley of brickbats
but this is just my opinion). But they definitely need to patch things up soon.

There are scenes I can't even watch and have to completely skip over. Textures are pretty bad too.
maybe I'll upgrade tomorrow..
The worst thing about this? One of these "Can't watch without skipping" cutscenes is a main quest scene. In the Western Approach. It just sits there and hangs unless you hit X to advance.
How do you not catch this in QA?

Stop trying to convince yourself to get a game you know is likely to just be a disaster. Look at me, I gave up on getting the last gen version days ago. Either an amazing patch comes out that fixes practically everything and makes the game look passable, or I buy it years down the line when I get a PS4. No in-between.

Well I really want to play this game ^^; DAO is first game I got for my PS3 and I have been waiting this game for years. Sadly I'm not planning to get PS4 just yet since DAI is only thing I would need it for and I wouldn't have any games than DAI in it. There is just seems to be so conflicting experiences with old gen versions, some have some bug but they are still happy. Some can't even play. I'm just wondering which one it would be on my console, too bad I can't text the game before buying it ^^;

So did I, but things don't always go as planned. Bioware putting in barely any effort and making a garbage port was not part of my plan, but I just have to adjust.

My adjusting right now is tweeting the devs and keeping this thread up hoping that those would make some differences. In technical support sub forum (that is EA's site not BW's though) there is 20+ pages thread asking patch for old gen too. Maybe these together will help devs see that there is serious problems? I can only hope that, but I refuse to believe that BW wouldn't want to patch this game in state that works well in old gen too. They did state that DAI is the game they always wanted to make, after all?

I will be getting DAI in a few days on 360 ( I have a slim 250gb 2011) . I have been reading this thread and think the problems people are having are :-
1) Older model(s) xbox/ ps3 (2005/2008), not the newer slim versions (2011/2013)
2) SDTV and not a HDTV
3) No HDMI cabel which is a must have.
In regards to buying a xbone or PS4. IMHO there is no justification to spent £300 on a new console just for one game for the sake of better graphics.
I know that the 360's will eventually be discontinued and games will stop being made for it. I will get an xbone eventually until it has a decent lineup of games and the possibiity eventually of a slim line version and the price drops to £250 - £200.

If you haven't played DA2 then just buy that and play it on ps3. The story continues in DA:I. Perhaps by then you can save up for a better PC or PS4.
Or else, if you are not a gamer and play only Dragon age games then just buy it! Look at it this way, You have read so many complaints (some are just trivial honestly ) your expectation is really low and its not that bad in reality. But yeah, this thread is surely needed to wave-the-flag and get developers attention.(Kudos for that) But its kinda sad isn't it, if the only way you can involve in this game is by highlighting all the negative aspects of it?
Also, it the season of sales so you may find it for a few bucks cheap this month end.

Im actually amazed they managed to get the game to work on the old gen consoles.
Considering the game can make Xbone, PS4 and PC with 8GB RAM struggle occasionally........the fact its even working on 360 and PS3 which only has 512mb RAM and 10 year old hardware (thats several lifetimes in hardware life) is amazing.

I wanted to post here after I had time to play the game (30+ hours) about the problems I ran into when I played. My game froze once or twice. Every once in a while I get dialogue delivered where it sounds like there are two versions of the track playing together and the resulting sound is garbled. I've had several instances in conversations where a character would finish their line but not move on to the next one. I solved this, usually, by pressing the skip button but I'd miss the next line. One conversation where this was happening just stuck. I couldn't even use the skip button method. As a result, I can't complete the mission. This is the main concern for me.

Actually I have played DA2 quite few times and have more than 300 hour on DAO XD I'd really like to play DAI now ^^ I don't mind lower graphics that much but performance issues and bugs are too much for me (funny bugs are fine but not game-breaking one's).
Currently I'm just being jealous of everyone who gets to play while trying to get BW patch the game up fast ![]()

Actually to me it seems more like that they shouldn't bother doing cross-gen game with such demanding engine as frostbite seems to be. I think they got over ambitious. Game doesn't need demanding or have high-tech hardware to be amazing ^^; If they go cross-gen they should have designed it in way that the performance itself in old gen would be flawless. If it was only lower graphics and fewer NPC's I would understand and be happy with the game.

I agree that there are problems even with slim version current models. Having a HDMI cabel and a HDTV improves things somewhat.
I play on the newest PS3 model, the gameplay and graphics are amazing. Well done Bioware!
Just checking out those awesome waves crashing the Storm Coast, my only complaint no way to take screenshots
There doesn't seem to be any issues here even on PS3 current model.

I have been playing DA:I on X360 since last thursday (20 hours played), and these are my problems so far:
- Eyebrows on all major characters look like N64 pixelated blocks.
- Outdoor areas look far too intense as a color palette and sometimes hurt my eyes.
- Textures that never ever load --> Inquisition flag raise, Crossroads flag raise, Crossroads statues. Just a few of the overload of examples.
- Clipping issues all over the place --> i.e. While exploring the Grand Forest Villa, the outer walls just jumped up and down, dissappeared, etc.
- Sound issues --> Sometimes the sound just cuts away, it usually starts when initiating for a battle.
- Enemies that stop fighting, or just stand there doing nothing --> Happened to me in Valammar with the Darkspawn most notably.
- Outdoor graphics are horrendous. Hinterlands look like the plains from Halo 1 on the original Xbox.
- Random flashes across the screen. At first I thought it was the lightning from outside my window, but it was really the game.
- While saving the game once, it was stuck in a loop saying 'Verifying the save file' causing me to restart the Xbox.
- Some indoor areas are way to dark compared to their older next-gen brothers, most notably the Chantry in Haven.
- I have problems with picking up items. The 'Press A' for picking up something is buggy and frequently does not show up.
These are the issues that come to my mind. I'm sure there are more that I cannot think of now.
At this state, the 60 euros I spent are not acceptable for this buggy mess.
I do have to say, however, that I thoroughly enjoy the gameplay and characters so far, and that I have a pleasant time when exploring.
Some areas, like Val Royeaux Bazaar and Valammar look incredible! If only the rest of the game looked like that...
And my Inquisitor is pleasant to look at graphically, but maybe that's just because he looks like me ![]()

I don't know man...I couldn't stand DA:O on ps3. Bland graphics with no tactical play was a deal breaker for me. I went out and bought it for PC. This game on the other hand is made unavailable by EA in my country fearing some lame laws. So i am forced to get a digital edition and considering limited bandwidth i went with 16gb on ps3 compared to a slow 25gb download on pc(with VPN). If you were fine with DA:O on ps3 for 300 hours(
)then this game is not going to be as bad as you think.
I agree that charging full price for old-gen is just wrong! But this game, ever running "Flawlessly" on old-gen is just wishful thinking IMO.

Well I think I played half on PS3 and half on PC (though slightly below mininum settings so I think PS3 had better graphics in the end). I don't actually mind PS3 version being graphically inferior (though after seeing new gen version I excepted that it would be up to par Skyrim and ME3, meaning (to me) graphically best games on PS3) but performance issues and bugs and also textures don't loading is bigger problem to me since those can permit me playing for example if game constantly keep crashing or some areas are unaccessable, or if Dorian's moustache looks like nose hair.. I have seen pictures where it comes from nose so that's not even joke.

So far, 4 out of the 5 the game froze out on me was during a save (both auto and manual save).
To avoid freezes, a possible solution would be to simply stand still or press pause until the game is finished saving.

I heard that PS4 got day 1 patch which is probaply why it seems to have least amount of bugs. They should have done that for other platforms as well. I guess the priority is new gen -> PC -> old gen : /
