Played some more, this time adventuring around the desert area, The Western Approach I think the name? No significant blemishes, although I did experience my first "patrolling enemies suddenly disappear to thin air" before I managed to engage them in combat.

Also, this is maybe just my feeling that has no basis, but I *felt* like the experience was smoother last night because I didn't log in to EA Server while playing. I'm not sure, but it *felt* like it,

First Post on the Forums here, Felt I had to give my experiences On Last Gen up until this point

Hardware:  Playing the game on my 250GB PS3 "super slim" fully updated with the latest firmware, and got it when it was released fall of 2012. the game itself is the digital version

Graphics:  Don't kill me for this but to be honest I'm actually impressed with how the graphics look considering the scope and size of the game and the hardware its running on. Granted there are some areas that look worse than others ( looking at you Forbidden Oasis  and the trees specifically...look so low res) but when the graphics work for the most part its pretty great, exploring the Dwarven vault in the Hinterlands, Visiting the surprisingly colorful Val Royeaux, Looking out at the sea on the Stormy Coast, standing at the edge of the Swamp in the Fallow Mire as your armor is soaked with rain while thunder rumbles in the distance, and even looking out at the Mountains from your quarters in Skyhold (The draw distances are something else with this game). I think it does its job of drawing you into the Atmosphere.../when/ it works.

Texture Pop ins: Definitely have experienced various texture pop-ins almost too frequently while playing the game /especially/ on npc's and companions when you stop to converse with them, and during some cutscenes. Thankfully this is something that can be fixed with a patch and i'm hoping Bioware does just that

Hair: For me the hair hasn't been Exceptional but its certainly not bad, in fact hair has been an issue across all platforms so we are not alone in that regard. Thankfully Beards and Moustaches have yet to glitch on Blackwall and Dorian. In fact aside from Blackwalls beard occasionally clipping through the top of his armor it looks pretty good

Load Times Have not been bad for me at all, yes it takes longer than the PS4/Xone and PC but it certainly doesnt take up to 30 minutes like some have reported. It usually takes 20-25 seconds. I have noticed however that the screen tears slightly when the game is loading a save file from the start menu. No clue what causes that but it is not a major issue

Freezing/lag/crashing:  37 hours in and the game has froze/crashed on me exactly 3 times ( twice during autosave which admittedly is not good because it locks up the system and i'm forced to hard reset which causes that painfully long file restore process and once when I attempted to rest in a tent while running from an elite bear) The game does tend to lag in areas where there is a lot of activity and NPC's such as Haven, Redcliffe Village, and Skyhold, and Similar to Fallout 3 and New Vegas the longer I play (several hours at the most) the more the game Lags which I usually take as a sign that I need to take a break and let the ol system have a breather  ;)

And thats about it so far, i'll be sure and post back here if anything more happens as I go on, I definitely seem to be in the minority when it comes to the problems others are having. Loving the game so far and I truly do hope all the issues my fellow inquisitors are experiencing end up being fixed....

Oh! one other complaint...why is the text in subtitles so dreadfully small???

The lag/freezing/conversations that can only progress by skipping are the issues I've noticed most on PS3, with particularly high-action game sections seeming to slow down under the weight of too many assets being active at once. I really didn't want to buy a next gen console just for one game, but it's starting to feel like that was the way the game was intended to be played. I really hope a patch can sort this out enough to give a comparable experience, even if it means dimming the very impressive graphics on systems that can't handle them.

I saw in other thread BW employer answering that they are making patches but he can't say when they are coming. Didn't state if those were for old gen too or not. Hopefully they are: http://forum.bioware...day/?p=17869905

I have also seen people saying that console patches take longer time than PC since they need permission from Sony and Microsoft or sth?

Yeah Microsoft and Sony have to approve any patches or fixes before they go live, no clue why but i'm guessing its a security thing.

Well I guess we have to just wait longer then. Hopefully they have patched it before Christmas, I really would like to play DAI on my holiday ^^;

You addressed it by acting like a complete jerkass to someone else for no reason other than them having a slightly better experience than you, then you call them a troll when they try to defend themselves against your flaming. Then when someone else calls you on it, your response is "I already tried to drop it [by calling him a troll to disregard his posts], why do you bring it up again after I had the benevolence to leave him be after all my insulting?". There is a troll in this thread, and it's you.

I guess I'm the only one who caught him dismissing the VAST amounts of people having issues reading text as "get a better TV".  Despite the fact that MANY people on ALL consoles regardless of TV are having this issue, he made this claim.

His entire post screamed "I don't know what your problem is, you guys are exaggerating everything, games not that bad, plenty playable".  If you can't read people properly that's your problem, not mine.

I can overlook the various graphical oddities and the occasional freeze, but having to skip portions of conversations with characters I've been wanting to see again for years is kind of breaking my heart.

Okay I have been reading replies on Mike Laidlaw's twitter about last gen issues and general on patches. I'll include some screenshots on OP soon but:

- They are focusing performance stuff and making game running before aesthetics.

- Lack of scars is not bug, it was intentional decision to not include those for last gen: "One of the visual sacrifices made to fit in the older hardware’s memory."

- (Answer on last gen issue) On 22th he wasn't aware of text issues offered lack of HDTV and HDM1 cable as reasons for small text but said he will investigate it further when people said they have HDTV's and HDM1 cables already. So hopefully they are now aware of that problem.

I think I will also look on DragonAge's replies on the twitter, maybe there is more stuff ^^

I *think* I heard somewhere that you need to pay Microsoft and Sony to make patches available for your game? Now I don't know whether it is enough say that you pay Sony once and you can get patches cross platform PS3 and PS4 or whether you need to pay once for PS3 and once for PS4... hopefully Bioware sees fit to release patches for older gen as well, considering that we basically paid the same price as the regular next-gen version.

Look, okay, I admitted that the small text complaint was unbecoming of me. It came from my experience once playing Mass Effect 2 on an SDTV once, and that resulted to a massive amount of squinting before I switched to an HD capable set. So perhaps in my inexperience I hastily concluded that the matters of people feeling the texts as too small as something that are caused by the TV. Obviously, I was wrong right now since I have seen people posting that they still felt the texts are too small even on their large TVs.

For that, I apologize.

However, I won't apologize for the rest of my assessments since those were truly my experience playing the game so far (currently I am exploring the Exalted Plains at 31 hours according to the save). I don't know why you are so hung-up by me claiming that the game is "playable". I didn't even say "plenty" playable, whatever that means, I never even once said that my gameplay experience was smooth--in fact, for the 100th times I stated in my opening post that my gameplay experience was far from smooth, and I don't even said something to the effect of "stop exaggerating, people" of any kind--these are all what you're saying I'm saying, which I'm not. All of the remarks I posted earlier regarding to the points of the OP were all honest experiences from the many hours I have poured to the game, so it was disappointing that you're so quick to judge me as being dismissive to other people's problems or that I am a troll when I took time to share my experiences here in this topic.

To that end, if you still think badly about me, then I don't care. I'm done explaining myself to you, even though it's tiring and to tell you the truth rather maddening to see that you have dedicated several posts attacking me for what I haven't done. If you still wish to do so or want to put me on ignore, then feel free to do so, I don't care.

Hello! I do not know this is a bug or not, but .. I played a male elf and made him archer. Then later, when I change the character noticed that his card is not an archer, and equipped by dagger.
Spoiler

Played on the xbox.
I apologize for my English.

I'm glad the responses from those with good TV's pushed them to look into.  I'm also rather irritated that they made a mistake they said they wouldn't make again and gave us the dismissive "get a better TV" line.

Okay, @dragonage's twitter feed is long, I'm only on 25th now but for console problems their recommendations seems to be:

- Posting about the issue here: http://answers.ea.co...p/DAInquisition so apparently EA people can answer your problems. I haven't seen many answers there though, but at least it has quite long thread "Patch for ps3/360?". So I guess you can make technicians more aware on issues there?

- For 360 freezing badly: Step 3 & 4 here: http://help.ea.com/e...-with-xbox-360/

- General advice was to restart console when encountered problems like lag, freeze and crash.

Well, for the hinterlands restarting the console don't work. Though as I said, I think it's a General issue of some area in the region for all platforms. Sadly I wasn't Able to play today, I see if I can test it in a few hours.

I started that top one to get as many people talking about the issues as possible so far NOT ONE REPLY from EA, we dont even have a sticky, this is how much they really dont care.

They're probably working really hard to get these patches out ASAP, but it would be nice to have specifics...

What problems are being addressed?
Time estimates?
Are there any bugs that CANNOT be fixed and are due to hardware limitations? (I sincerely doubt this, but it is a concern)

Now that I'ev cooled off and stopped trying to play, I feel sort of bad for my previous tirade... but only because Ive accepted that I can't play yet :/

Running the digital download on PS3 skinny. Was having the problems in the original post but was at least able run. Now a little over 17 hours in I can't get any save game to load. I have 7 of them spaced pretty far apart and not one will load. When I try It starts to load, I get the background screen with the information cards, flashing icon in the corner. Then I get the black screen with just the icon which flashes for about 5 seconds then stops. Have to reboot the PS3. I'm still having a hard time believing that this stuff made it through any kind of QC.

I feel sorry for you :(. I was lucky in the saves freezing only yesterday in the hinterlands. I lost only one hour and half.
I checked every area I went yesterday and every saves work now. So I guess it was a random freeze, don't know if related only to the hinterlands. My advice to everyone playing the game would be to save really often.

I Honestly wonder what could be causing that for you two, I have yet to encounter a situation where the game freezes during loading and I'm more than 37 hours in. Truly odd how it affects some but not others  :(

Yep, it'd be nice to get information why there is big inconsistency. Some players are having some minor bugs, some game-breaking one's. There is many different one's too. Some might be console version specific but in other hand some of the issues are same that new gen consoles are having as well.

My game freezed a lot during the loading times. But most annoying problems were:

  • Dialogue wheel problems, sometimes dialogue has to be skipped in order of game to continue.
  • And that textures don't load properly.

Also seriously hair was too shiny :D

The beta testers did a very shitty job
