Being a cynic myself, I'm guessing that you're probably right. Which is why I set up the petition. I presume what we do is gather signatures, hoping, as we do that, that we won't have to use the petition, and that Bioware will fix these problems before we need take the next step.

 

Next step, I think, would be that when we reach a reasonable level of signatures we send the petition off to every games magazine- media outlet that discusses games we can think of. Tailoring the approach to the given outlet. For example 'The Mary Sue' tends to concern itself with actual gaming ethics- rather than the definition supplied by a gamergate neanderthal- so, for them, we emphasise the issue of text size and how it excludes certain gamers- it may also be an idea to contact disability rights campaigners etc about this too at that point, but as I'm not au fait with the minutae of these issues I'd probably leave that to those who are directly involved with them/are currently being excluded from playing the game because of them- as I don't want to get the facts wrong, (whilst, of course, supporting them in their endeavours whole-heartedly).

 

After we've approached several media outlets we then inform everybody we can at Bioware/EA that we have done so and send them screen prints of any articles that may have been written, and hope that pushes them into action.

 

After that?

 

I guess those of you who feel they have a legal challenge that they may win can pursue that, although I hope Bioware sees sense and it doesn't come to that.

 

So, in the meantime- I suggest that everybody who can be bothered puts a version of the following at the bottom of their posts and keeps spreading the word, we're almost up to 70 signatures now...

You have such a grasp on quality activism and here I was prepared to avoid any activism talks because this IS the Bioware forums, and Bioware forums tend to be on the rubbish side when it comes to activism and such (because sexism, racism, homophobia, etc.) Bless you all.

 

I am fully for contacting various organisations and media outlets if patch 3 doesn't attempt to fix any if the 360 or PS3 issues. (Setting a low bar in hope that they'll do something.) I am certainly DEFINITELY for contacting various organisations and media outlets if patch 3 doesn't even mention fixing text or subtitling. (Setting an even lower bar, because if they miss that, you know they've screwed up.)

 

And if we do get a fix at some point that makes the game playable, I swear I'm having a party and buying a ton of party hats, putting all your usernames on the hats and then spend 30 hours playing Inquisition non stop before crashing.

That's so amazing that the deaf are making waves over in Sweden.

 

Here, in the UK, not so much. If we want subtitles in the cinemas, we either have to go to special viewings that are rarely broadcasted or advertised or wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray release. BSL was only legally/officially recognised 11 years ago and I don't think that's done much in the way of deaf rights since.

 

I'm not sure if there's any deaf activism groups in the UK, to be honest. I'm not as connected to the deaf community as I'd like to be (disability support is **** here). There's charities and projects for deaf kids, definitely, but not any focused activism groups as far as my memory goes. (There's only one local deaf group, and it's literal description is "get together and have a cuppa".)

 

However, there is the British Deaf Association, Royal Association for Deaf people and Signature but whether they'll want to do anything about a singular video game is beyond me. Maybe we could talk about making a baseline for subtitles mandatory in every video game published?

 

For Americans, there's the National Association of the Deaf and Deafhood Foundation (which seems to be more activism inclined.)

 

But other than that, I'm not sure who and where to crack down and talk to in the UK.

I certainly will! I'm going to see what patch 3 is like, and if that's nothing, I'm going to gather sources and images and proof and vocal back up and deaf experiences on gaming/DAI before talking to media outlets and deaf associations.

I'm having high hopes when it comes to Patch 3 too. And if that doesn't solve our problems, then yes, we should take it to the media.

Party banter
Easier to click on greyed out dialogue
Less texture popping
Strange character glitches arms etc
Red face dots and flesh ear spikes
Broken quests

we are becoming obsolete, that's not to be understated. And it's natural. HOWEVER, as Panda has remarked on various occasions, that's absolutely no excuse for deceitful marketing.

Why do the developers keep releasing games for old gen consoles if they're not going to make them playable on old gen consoles? 

If this were about cellphones or TV's or cars they would never be able to get away with it!

Electronics have a lifespan. My xbox360 works perfectly and I just bought it like 6 years ago. But, I understand how the world of tech works. It's like asking why we need to buy DVDs when casette players still work. Hell, my casette player STILL works 30 years after, and I even have scotch-mended tapes that work, that doesn't mean I haven't moved on. Sure, I never bought a Blu-Ray, but I'm up to here in DVDs. With PCs it's even worse. You're not expected to have a PC you made like ten years ago, fullstop. It's unthinkable. So, why do we expect ten year old tech to still be in hype? The new gens are much more powerful and with alot better capabilities. It's a natural tech replacement process, sure, we don't much like it. But we can still have the old consoles and we can still play the old games on the old consoles. We just won't play any new games on the old consoles.

 

Which is my IMMENSE GRIEF with Bioware. They should have said "we don't release for old gen, period." They didn't. Instead they said "Ooooh it's gonna be great my luvs, marvelous entirely, only a few less NPCs here and there and you won't notice a difference, we swear." Yeah, right. If that ISN'T deceiptful advertisement, then I don't know what is. People sued Red Bull cause they didn't grow wings, and we can't sue Bioware for something hugely more realistic? All we need is a US lawyer. Or where Bioware is based, anyway, Ireland, I dunno.

Anyway, since the last patch, I haven't come across any serious issues on PS3. The big things that bugged me, like the horrible dialogue freeze and weird pose during NPC dialogue seem to have been ironed out. Dunno about the Hawke bug, since I've been using the default voice, but the persistent issues that plagued the game throughout before seem to be gone on my system.

Same here, but as I said before I am SO immensely pissed off right now that I WILL go and get the ****, and hell hath no fury!! I want to play this game in its proper state. Anyway, I don't play many titles overall, so I doubt I'll see much of a real difference in the long run.

I'm still having major problems with the audio. In fact it's been worse since Patch 2 because now I lose all sound and the game goes mute every time I go to Val R. I'm hoping Patch 3 will sort that out.

Played disney infinity 2.0 yesterday with kids on xbox 360 and never once
-Did it stutter
-did i feel shortchanged or inferior
-did i feel like i was playing an old gen game
-that it should be patched

Now i know its apples to oranges and not complex blah blah but it felt like disney put a lot of love into old gen.

With the 360 conversion of dai i feel Sera would rip this conversion to shreds based on your first conversation with her in haven.

Disney puts alot of love in everything. Ever played Kingdom Hearts? Got that for PS2, still works fine, and I'm gonna give that to my kid to play with in a couple of years time.
