There is no general hysteria.

Up to now I've certainly been nothing but polite.

Because you've been polite you can conclude there's been no general hysteria?

The only reason I put the last post up was because you accused someone of hyperbole when there was none-

The only way you couldn't see hyperbole in that statement is if you're blind. Show me where there's been any suggestion that the game "hardly works for more than half old-gen users"

Sorry but that seems to be a... ahem, strawman.

It isn't. It's fairly accurate actually.

It seems to me that all it is saying is that they wish someone would fix this game, and I quote their comment which you critiqued " several lady gamers are here having xbox's with unplayable discs..."

Good thing you omitted that last sentence of theirs. It only contained all the problems with their comment and all...

So, if you have no problem with Bioware deleting their comment then you do just want the person who posted to shut up.

Conclusion based on faulty analysis.

Again I don't understand why you're posting here, what do you hope to achieve?

I've already answered this.

I know you're probably going to reply to this and I know it may seem a tacit admission of defeat to walk away, but I'm wondering whether it would be for the best to not reply to you again, because I need this thread to be about the issue, not an argument that will eventually disolve into a question of redundant semantics- with you crying strawman every 30 secs.

I walk away from plenty of arguments. When you blatantly misrepresent me, and blatantly misrepresent your compatriots - No. I won't be walking away. You guessed rightly.

not an argument that will eventually disolve into a question of redundant semantics- with you crying strawman every 30 secs.

Strawmen are redundant semantics? The act of your compatriots misrepresenting my arguments so they can have an easier time replying are... redundant semantics?

Good to know.

You think bioware should delete Octarin's 'hysterical' opinion- who made you the judge of that?

I'm not the 'judge' of anything. I thought you might be willing to consider WHY her post was deleted. And no the fact that she was replying to a user above her doesn't make it any better.

I have one of the latest Xbox360 elite models, bought brand new 2013, and though I haven't gotten the read disc error and I have no problems getting the game to start, I frequently run into corrupted saves, textures not loading or flickering and audio being glitchy or going completely mute and the dialouge wheel not high-lighting and becoming active. Some of these issues seem to effect some copies of the game across all platforms, so no, I don't think only people with older versions of old gen consoles are the only ones having problems with DA I.

^ I can second on this one, because I got to have a go on my friend's 320gb late edition 360s and while I didn't have the disc read error, there was the textures popping in and out again, subtitle/text issues (on a modern 2014 HD widescreen), characters (particularly Leliana) talking backwards etc etc

I think we've reached the point where we can collectively agree it's the game, not the hardware.

You won't be able to avoid texture pop-in on the 360 (textures not loading is a different issue,) nor will you be able to avoid the small text problem (I assume this is what you mean when you say subtitle issues?) Those are two things you'll just have to deal with, unfortunately.

Leliana talking backwards is an issue though...

Honestly, I can understand the texture pop in, it's just when the texture goes "nah, no thank you" and pops out again. We started calling the Inquisition banner or whatever it's called the hairy vagina because of the texture issues constantly flickering before giving up.

To be honest, the text/subtitle size issue is a simple fix and should've been sorted in QA, and is a stone's throw away from becoming a disability/health issue because of deaf/sight issues/partially blind fans not being able to play the game they paid big bucks for. (Shout out to the deaf folks on this thread if there are any bar me)

Like, I remember there being reports of several characters suddenly starting talking backwards or garbled, but Leliana covered all that for me in one entire conversation it was so weird.

"So, you knew the Warden?"

To be honest, it's not as bad as when trying to play games on an SD TV when companies were making games for HD. Have you ever tried to play DA2 or ME3 on a small, bedroom sized SD-TV. Some of the stuff is literally unreadable. I don't think ANY developer has fixed any instance of "tiny text" whenever the issue has been brought up, and it's been a CONSTANT argument. I'll be surprised if it's addressed here, and I honestly don't know why nobody addresses it. It DOES seem like a simple fix. The capitals didn't help...

I'll just share a quick experience with customer service in a kiiiind of similar situation so its not exactly off topic. It just shows  that paying customers mustn't be ignored when there is a problem with a product they bought.

I recent;y bought a PS Vita bundle which included Borderlands 2+DLC (as a voucher code) not a physical card.

To keep the story short, I went to redeem my game on PSN but the code would not work.I tried Sony customer services(which is generally crap)  2-3 times and they told me each time that they code was not valid for the game itself and it was only valid for the DLC.

Then I stumbled upon a thread on PSN and in it were about 6-7 people with the same problem. The thread was tiny, like 7 pages long.We complained that we paid for a bundle and didn't get the game  that was included and then someone noticed it and responded and within 5 days maximum , we were emailed a new code for the game we paid for.Turns out they printed wrong codes.

It was a tiny thread,we were less than 10 people yet we got our answer AND our new code within a few days.

I didn't expect this from Sony, but it happened.

People get frustrated when ignored.

If we were ignored, we would have made a huge fuss but they listened to us and helped up even if we were a tiny tiny tiny fraction of their customers.

Edit: My point being that, it is only logical for people in this thread to be frustrated.

I'm running like, a 30" HD TV with HDMI cable and even with my face inches away from the screen it's still illegible. Like, I understand tiny-ness bc DA2's was small but on the same side, legible, but I'm just sitting here going "how can you **** up such a basic thing ever further good lord!"

Even on huge chock off TVs like my friend's, it was only just about legible but still headache inducing after a while.

I can provide photos of said illegibility on my own TV, if you're curious and don't fancy trekking through the thread.

Place your bets on when they'll blame your hardware though like they did in ME3, if my memory serves correctly. Like, on super small TVs, there's going to be legibility issues, but when you struggle on super modern chock off HD 2014 TVs? Now that's just ridiculous.

(As I posted at some point, not sure if you saw it, but I got talking to my stepsister who studied all fancy stuff behind video games like coding and rigging at a university level and she said that increasing the text/subtitle size should be an easy fix (especially since they're an experienced company) and having a text size slider is a plausible idea. Not sure how much weight that has, but it's something.)

I apologise for my excessive use of the word 'like', it's evolving language for you. So easy to use and imply something, I love it, even though it frustrates others.

Close is relative. Are we talking hugs away close or a football field away close?

In all seriousness, at least there is something of a mention of a patch.

Small text is an issue on all consoles.  It is something even current-gen players have an issue with.  And it is a problem that can be solved.  Change the font size, and don't have everything in all caps.

It's not a hardware problem, it's a design problem.

A new weird bug happened to me today.  Dorian's "mouth" moved up in his head, away from where his mouth actually is.  This comically moved his mustache and little soul patch further up on his face, but not his lips.  You can see the mustache and soul patch move as he's talking, but the lips stayed sealed.

Those other bonuses are totally lame and not worth it.  It was the soundtrack for me as well.  Good to hear that you didn't have an issue downloading the soundtrack.  With this, I am not sure it is on Sony, EA, or Bioware, but two and a half weeks after release to get to be able to download the album... that adds to the lame.

I haven't even finished playing my first play through.  :(  I don't have much time as it is, so when I get to play I like to play without crashes, freezing, and actually be able to read and understand the story.  Sadly, DA Inquisition has been wasting my time because of such.

The game is lacking a lot of stuff and also even with the bonus we get it mean nothing, the soundtrack don't have all the music of the game and it took me like 1 full blasted month to get my soundtrack cause of the problem they have and wheni  finaly got it....it not the full version of the soundtrack.

Either way back too the topic i agree with Pig Bodine his been polity along with Panda who show the problem at the first place (great job you 2 and many other too including Faeryia) Bioware you have just tested the old gen to make sure something was off or not,i still think the game got rush on most stuff, the qunari race look and the lack of horn/hair and unique armor for them, color for armor (where the heck is my black color or better yet black/red similar too the sentinal armor from awakening)

There have been like several topic about this and this one is the most strong one and i do hope that bioware will take a look from this topic and even so they mike have announce the patch i will have my douth about this untild i see it and 1 or 2 free dlc for S.P (i know maybe i puttiing to much hype in there)

Also you just have to "deal with it?" Once again Keyip showing the sensitivity they are renowned for, you do know that someone on this thread is deaf and the subtitles aren't something they can just 'deal with'?

Tiny text problems have been an issue for 6 years or more and I have never seen it fixed once. I didn't present my view of things but rather my opinion on the likelihood of this issue being fixed. As a person who's been affected by this issue for years I sympathise with the people affected here, but it's generally considered low priority for whatever reason.

Keep making assumptions of my position on things, you're demonstrating my point more explicitly than I ever could.

The ONLY other game that had tiny font issue was Skyrim and it was for the small text like "the enchantement fade away" at the top of the screen.

I made all the calculs to know what eye quality is needed to play at DAI with comfort. At 3 meter of the TV (distance most played, on a sofa, a vouch or something to sit on in front of the TV), I need a 17/10 on the two eyes only to read what quest is going on. And it's not the tiniest of the text!

So what must I do? Buy a 3000$ TV of 3 meter width to have big font? Play with my nose glued to the screen? No, it is the very first game where ALL the text are super tiny!

Technical feat : HD TV, HDMI cable, calcul used by optician to test the eye using the size of the font, the distance between the text and the user and use a logarithmic curve. Oh, and thanks for the full Capslock text Bioware, it is only used for title and logos for a reason : because our brain has a hard time reading it!

Strawmen are redundant semantics? The act of your compatriots misrepresenting my arguments so they can have an easier time replying are... redundant semantics?

Good to know.

I'm not the 'judge' of anything. I thought you might be willing to consider WHY her post was deleted. And no the fact that she was replying to a user above her doesn't make it any better.

"You are deciding you are the judge of whether her post needs deleting.", was the first thing I was going to write, followed by me taking apart every one of your statements, but then I realised that would make me, well... you, and frankly...

Sorry that's a bit harsh.

I sometimes go too far in the persuit of a put-down, don't we all on occasion?

Look, the real reason I want this to stop?

I don't think this is good for us or the kids, honey.

You know, I've never blatantly misrepresented you, certainly I never wanted to.

I'll admit I might have accidently misinterpreted you, just like, if, I give you the benfit of the doubt, you have with me in the arguments you've made above.

There's a couple of times when I have been referring to one thing and I think you believe I was referring to something else, but it's true, it's so hard to get that sorted when you're typing at each other instead of talking face to face.

So, no I don't think strawmen are redundant semantics- what i meant is I think we will both end up discussing redundant semantics eventually and that you will sporadically pepper that with cries of strawman.

And no because I was polite that wasn't what lead me to think there has been no general hysteria on here, that was two seperate trains of thought, but I can see how you would think I was arguing that- now I've reread the post it took me 3.5 seconds to write- I admit it, I expressed myself poorly.

Do you see how easy it is to get the wrong end of the stick?

I bet I've done that to you too, and if I have, I again apologise.

One of the reasons I gave you the benefit of the doubt at first over other people's opinions, was because it's so easy to misinterpret.

Just take a breath.

You may want to consider that as an option before you start throwing round words like hysterical.

Also you do know that virtual hysteria is no worse than aggressive beligerence?

And you are a bit testy, aren't you now?

C'mon, Chuckles, admit it... :)

I'll also assume that on your side you're not just being deliberately disengenous to win an argument, whatever 'winning' means, as I like to see the good in people.

Having said that?

I don't think you're going to let lie what I've just said, you're probably just going to pick it apart and carry on trying to score points... and there are no winners in that.

I hope I'm wrong, but if not?

Maybe it'd be better if we just call it a day, and agree that we always had Paris?

We've been together now for only a short time, but somehow it feels so much longer, we've shared the laughter and tears along the way, held hands across the ocean, but I think... I think it's over.

We can't keep seeing each other like this.

I'll tell you what.

I'll take your word that you're not on here to wind people up, and you take my word that I'm not here to shout that Bioware is full of crap- because I'm not.

I thought you were on here to wind people up, after a while, because I couldn't see why else you'd be here if you've got a game that works ok for you- which i think you still haven't really explained.

It's ok I don't need an answer as to why you came to this forum.

It maybe my mistake again, maybe I missed your explanation, didn't follow what you said, skim read it, whatever...

Like I said, i don't need an explanation, I'll take your word for it that your intentions are pure.

Having said that, if you respond to this by taking it apart, piece by piece, then I won't respond to you because then you clearly are her to just annoy people, and also this is getting redundant- no-one cares about us arguing- least of all me.

I'm here because I want a game to work, that's all.

I'm happy to chat otherwise.

The ironic thing is ME2 was chastised for having small text, and they flat out said they wouldn't patch it.  They did, however, say they would do better next time.  I actually thought the ME3 text was much improved.  Then comes DAI:, and not only is it tiny, but printed in all caps.

I just...don't get it.

@PigBodine: I throw words like hysterical around because I generally see the behaviour of people outside these threads. I should point out my argument with Octarin started in another thread, then continued on this one and another. So this thread only got half the argument. Hysteria is nothing more than uncontrolled emotion, it wasn't meant as an insult. I actually do think there's a fair bit of hysteria going around, both in this thread and on the forums in general. But I suppose we'll agree to disagree there.

Regarding me wanting to "win" arguments, you'll observe how I walked away from the discussion regarding tiny text and texture pop-ins, that's my way of saying "fair enough." I'd feel awkward making a post just to say "fair enough" though, it's not really a post full of information. So no, I don't desperately want to "win" arguments.

The rest of your post is awesome and I don't have any response to it.

And you are a bit testy, aren't you now?

C'mon, Chuckles, admit it... :)

Ahahaha, you may get a chuckle out of this but I stopped playing Inquisitions long ago - it's not my type of game (more of a ME fan.) Also I stopped being a hard-core Bioware fan after KOTOR, which was a decade ago so ... I don't know what I'm supposed to be cranky about. A certain person's (they'll remain nameless) antics ticks me off, but I'm not testy with you. Anyway I apologise if I misrepresented you in the argument above.
