He's experienced in taking recruits, training them and commanding templars (aka soldiers). It has been many times said during games that templars are Chantry's army. Cullen himself witnessed pretty much all happenings in the DA2 and even was in final fight against Meredith. You can dislike him all you want but please be aware of facts as well.

Cullen's look has been quite average during the games so that isn't really good argument either. Some like them, some don't. Anyways let's not turn this another Cullen shouldn't be in DAI or can I kill Cullen thread, okay?

Oh I'm aware of the facts I'm afraid. Bioware engineered him perfectly. Gave him a soft touchy voice with a good looking appearance.

Cullen was a noob Templar in DA: O. He didn't even know what an abomination was or knew what one looked like. His commander had him shipped off to Kirkwall because Cullen had a mental breakdown for what happen at the tower.

Yeah Cullen had to witness what happen because he allowed the total destruction of his Chantry to occur. He had the power to force his commander to step down, and he didn't do a damn thing... Did he get punished for doing crap? No! He gets hired to become a high ranked official in the inquisition.

I rather have a desire demon possess my mage body rather than to have an incompetent man to have anything to do with my military.

Alright, but templars are still just police/guard. Not professional soldiers.

The Templar's were the chantries soldiers.

Upgrade your graphics card :P

But seriously, I disagree. There are many pretty npcs and followers in the game: Sera, all the elven women actually, vivienne, the former Dalish-mage that does research, even Fiona.

Meh, this is why we need the ability to mod files so player artists can take care of all these issues for the PC gamer population. Have you seen the amount of mods for Skyrim, and DA:O that are appearance and texture based only? Mind boggling.

As someone who is currently romancing Cassandra you can speak for yourself OP. A girl does not need to be a supermodel or dress like a prostitute in order to be attractive.

As am I.  She's a bit prickly though, lol.  I mostly get approvals from her, but every now and then I get a slight disapproval.  I like that she's a bit of a challenge though.

Again this. Male players really should expand their idea of beaty since this is getting tiring. You don't see lesbian players complaining about ugliness of females or straight female and gay players complaining about looks of male characters (which aren't even close to supermodels either). Thus I have to believe that the problem is on straight male players and not in the characters themselves.

But the problem isn't that not all women in DA:I look like supermodels, the problem is that none of the faces look like a normal human face. As is standard fare for DA games, all the cheeks are either a little or majorly wrong. That's why Leiliana looks ugly, why Solas looks ugly (and his chin), and many other characters also look ugly.

I have to disagree with this. DAI's women look much more like women in IRL than DAO's and DA2's look. I'm not sure about cheeks but women do have wide jaws, little noses, moles (I have seen people even complaining about Josie having mole's) and Josie's look itself are pretty close to Indian woman from what I have seen.

I think only thing I have problem with Solas' look is that his eyes seem to be too small for his face and they are quite up as well. I actually like his butt-chin and I know many IRL people have butt-chin's too. I have problem only with Blackwall's cheeks, they look sunken. I think it's because of the beard.

Bwaaah make prettier women for me Bioware I need a boner

I know games are supposed to be a form of escapism but holy crap it's not some atrocity. Then again, if slightly imperfect wimmenz do tempt you into becoming asexual, I wouldn't necessarily consider that a bad thing for the rest of us.

From what I've seen, all the characters look great! (kind of makes you wonder what the OP looks like...)

Oh good lord.  ANOTHER thread like this?  I get it, people find the female unattractive.  But why can't they just post their comment into one of the half dozen active threads like this that are already on the forum?

And, to add my opinion, I don't find Sera to be particularly attractive.  Josephine is traditionally pretty, but there's something kind of 'meh' about her to me.  I think Cass and Leliana are attractive and Vivienne is GORGEOUS.  Possibly the most attractive female character ever in a Bioware game.  Just stunningly beautiful.

The OP is right. The women are Oblivion fugly. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder. If that were true, Kate Upton wouldn't be universally popular.

Incorrect.  There are generally accepted beauty standards that most people can agree upon.  There is not, however, a single standard that everyone agrees upon and that no one deviates from.  It's subjective.

For every person who posts about how unattractive the females are, there is at least one more who posts about how attractive they find them.  Hence, subjective

That's not how love works. Love does not make something ugly. Love only makes things beautiful in an absolute sense.

So do I. I don't think they look any "worse" than the men.

It seems that some artists/developers are afraid to make beautiful female characters because it would offend some feminists. It's "not cool" to make a feminine character. So, they make the female masculine to appease this small segment of society. It's also the "I have a life/Get a girlfriend" mentality that accuses those who want feminine characters in their games.

Totally EuroVisioned. Has there actually been at least one a day for the past week? I've found two today, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Yeah - it has been at least one a day recently

are you kidding me? Have you seen Vivienne? She might be the most beautify video game character I've ever seen.

I think Cass, Josephine & Sera look great too.

If beauty is not subjective then how to do you explain that people find these characters attractive.

I also don't think Kate Upton is that pretty, but I understand why some people do.

Phantomrachie,

Do you agree that the women in DAI have masculine features?

I'm going to go with my standard answer:

It is not the job of video game developers to create characters to whom you are sexually attracted. If it was, they'd have replaced Darth Vader's head with Chris Hemsworth's in every Star Wars game.

It's a video game. You're supposed to play it. Not **** it.

I don't work for Bioware, but I feel very confident in saying that there is almost certainly not a conspiracy within the organization to avoid making "beautiful" (which, apparently to you means "feminine") female characters.

One more time:  You don't find them attractive.  Others do.  Your opinion that they are not attractive is not any more valid than those who say that they are attractive.  Why?  Because level of attractiveness is a subject thing.  Some people find females with masculine features to be attractive.

Finally, Cassandra has a square shaped face, but her features are not masculine.  She has a thin nose and feminine eyes.  Sera has full lips and large eyes with long eyelashes.  Josephine, Vivienne, and Leliana are very feminine and their features are traditionally "feminine".

Is this thread serious?

It's posted by someone who named themselves ZeroClues and is pushing all the easy troll buttons. Sadly, to great effect.

It's serious in the way shooting fish in a barrel is "serious".

Wasn´t that some kind of golden ration or something? In facial measurements.

I think the only unattractive woman is Sera who has a sort of weirdly squashed head like a newborn.  I think Cassandra is *much* more attractive than most of Bioware's female characters.

Only female in the game that has masculine charasteristic is Cassandra and those charasteristic are what large amount of women have IRL anyways. It's just twisted idea of society to treat them like they are unattractive. Milla Jovovich and Florence from Florence and the machine for example have both wide jaws just like Cass.

If you think Sera, Josie and Vivienne don't have feminine look.. idk what you except women look at all.

Cannot take you seriously with that avatar.  It would be the equivalent of me having a picture of say whoever that dude is that plays in the Twilight movies as my avatar and then coming on saying the male characters aren't "dreamy" enough.
