Ok, we all know that nowadays the AAA games are released usually in a sort of beta state, which are in desperate need for patching. We all also know that Bioware are already working on their several first patches to DAI.

So, honestly, should I wait a month or two until DAI is actually patched, or is it really playable now?

Please, no fanboism. Sober and objective suggestions are especially welcome. Thank you!

The game is playable if you don't mind minor bugs for the most part.  The only really bad bugs I've hear of is the NPC's thinking you are a female when you rolled male and some graphical issues, but the graphical ones are most likely not going to be fixed by a patch.  I occasionally see some bugs, but like i said they are really minor (clipping, sound lag early on in gameplay, occasional doubling of sound bytes) and have not detracted much from my experience.

If you're worried about the gender issue he mentioned, apparently tabbing back and forth between male and female a few times fixes it.

There's also the DirectX error on PC that causes a CTD. I've had it happened to me three of four times, twice within half an hour of each other.

Unless you are playing with a controller I recommend not getting the PC version until it is patch.

there is ppl playing on pc that have no issues and there are ppl on pc that have issues, the choice is really your own, either wait for a patch or go and play it and make your own mind up

What is that?  I have not encountered this bug, what DirectX is it tied to?

Most PC gamers have issues with the mouse and keybord.

I mean, it did take a while to get used to it in the first five or six hours, but then I changed some of the keybinds, and then after that I copped out and started using a speed pad for a best of both worlds experience (thumbpad movement and mouse precision)  Overall the kbm is annoying initially, but with some tweaking becomes bearable (other than the ridiculously close zoom of the tac cam)  But that can be fixed with patches (i hope :D )

It's damn annoying us PC gamers need to fixed it ourselves instead of Bioware.

What about the people who are ok with the set up though, there are people out there that are ok with it, then they will get pissed if BioWare patches it to fix what you think is broken.  That's why they included the remapping option.

Then bioware should have included the classic option interface where the key bindings and kb + mouse functions are like DA 1 & 2 instead of creating a new one and tell us to get use to it or get a refund which many of us did.

Also majority wins so these gamers should just fix it themselves once the patch fixes it for most of us.

An MMO - an MMOROG is a multiplayer RPG.
A single player MMO is an RPG

They are the same thing.

Even patched games still have issues. If you wait for a game to be bug-free you'll be waiting a while, not to mention that not all bugs are absolute.

Most feedback has been positive with outstanding issues regarding drivers and default controls. Both can be fixed.

The first major patch is usually made a month after release. That's always a good time to pick up any previously bug-ridden games as most gamebreaking bugs are fixed then primarily due to significant user complaints.

If you have zero patience for issues of "inconvenience", then you can always wait a year or so for the most significant "problems" to be resolved. You can have a better experience as a result.

Admittedly I had a much better experience from ME3 having played it a year after release, compared to most people on this forum, and I understand there were significant user complaints on release :P

That's on you. Your GPU is clocked too high and becomes unstable when it's used 100%.

OP: Watch TotalBuiscuit's spoiler-free PC-port report.

Looks good to me.

Well it seems that TotalBiscuit has no problem with the controls but plenty of PC gamers have problems with them:

I would suggest watching both video before to take your decision based on your personal tastes. Personally I won't buy the game before to know if it is going to be fixed.

I don't think I can take totalbiscuit's reviews seriously anymore seeing as that his mind set doesn't follow most PC gamer experience with this PC control issues.

Implying all PC players bother to complain (rather than make do, fix it themselves, and have fun) and that those that do are representative of the majority.

I mean, most games I tweak at least a few button layouts (capslock for.. anything I'm looking at you) so I disagree that it is necessary for Bioware to have the button layout "exactly" how every PC gamer wants.  But I totally agree that the difficulty the engine has with allowing both mouse and thumbpad functionality is annoying, as well as some other UI elements.  But like I said before, I hope that they will introduce a patch to improve on it, or (crazy insane nevergonnahappen hope) they create a new UI scheme that fits the PC better (like SkyUI mod for Skyrim)

Unfortunately for you the concept that majority wins is not an absolute truth historically speaking.  Bioware decided on a different kbm scheme, and yes it can be disorienting and frustrating, much like trying to figure out a different stick layout in a car or disassembling a weapon you are unfamiliar with for the first time.  But that does not mean that the majority is delivering the ultimatum of "fix it or we demand a refund."

You are also assuming that Bioware is never going to introduce a different kbm control scheme.  Yes, it is unlikely, but I have seen a couple of tweets that Bioware is working on making the game more playable for the disabled gamers out there, which would necessarily require a change of the control scheme much more similar to the one in DAO/DA2.

On top of this, you are claiming that "many" purchasers of DA:I have already refunded their game.  I do not know where you have gotten your data, but I would assume it is relatively subjective considering the use of many as your size.

You know, I never even considered that.

There is also the "Hawke" bug which makes the voice to your Inquisitor change halfway through the game which people seem to not be mentioning.

Ok, from what I gather on these forums, the game could use some more work on it, especially on the k&m side. Considering the patch is on it's way, I think I'd better finish Wasteland 2 first.
