Playing in the chantry based world it is easier for me to remain in character as a human noble. I choose to play it as one who believes in the Maker but wonders if the chantry got the message straight.  This attitude is strengthened as he sees the chantry's intolerance. Genetivi lives and the ashes fine.

My dalish elf characters passionately hate the chantry for their actions against elves. He views all humans as evil and the chantry as his enemies. He is just as prejudiced as the humans are, but during the game he learns to like and trust some of them. He never develops any respect for the chantry, as the game progresses and he experiences it for what it is, his hatred deepens. When faced with a choice to benefit or harm the chantry, he picks the latter. He tries to interpret the Maker from the Dalish gods perspective. Genitivi dies and the ashes are tainted.

I have not played as a city elf but I am thinking he will turn out to have an enduring hatres for human nobles. He will mistrust and dislike commoners at first until he gets to know infividuals. I will see how it unfolds but I don't foresee much love for the chantry coming.

My dwarves ignore the whole sodding chantry business which they view as silliness. They view humans and their culture with amusement. As they learn about the Maker from Leliana they begin to understand that the Maker is a lot more than the chantry lets on and are surprised and intrigued. Genitivi dies and the ashes are fine.

So that is my take on playing the origins and staying in character, what is yours?
