I tend to find warrors uniteresting. Playing a rougue at the moment.

take a look at the 9 companions, which do you feel you want to roll with. Iron Bull and Cassandra? well you might not need a warrior, Dorian and Vivinne? you might not need a mage. Look at your squad and just plug yourself in where there is a gap

I find warriors to be more interesting in DAI than in the previous iterations - the speed of stamina regeneration combined with the lack of stamina reservation skills makes it much more active. Tanking with a 2h warrior and timing parry's while smacking fools with mighty blow is very satisfying and the sword and board abilities all feel very substantial (using shield bash to put 3 guys on their asses is fantastic).

 

I feel mages have less raw DPS output in DAI, but have excellent utility. I'm only ~20 hours in with my Mage but I feel the abilities are fun to use, certainly when you immolate and a group of rookies start screaming, it's massively satisfying.

 

Overall, both classes are very fun to play - I guess I personally enjoy warrior more, but it's really a matter of opinion.

 

Maybe play a few hours of each and wee what you prefer?

A mage is the only way to go. At least for me. Stand back and fire shots from a distance an your health stays with you longer, while your warriors and rogues have to run after the enemy. The mage can do a lot of damage, free people, and set them on fire. They can also blow up things. I rather play a mage than anything. My opinion.
