My companions don't really banter while I explore- it's once every area maximum. Is the rate of companion banter down from DAO and DA2? In those we had trigger points for banter, which does not really appear to be case here.

I tried to vary where I walk, but nothing changed. I've heard from others that their companions banter every 10 minutes or so. Could this be a bug?

Mine seem to banter often. In DA2, they did run out of things to say. Maybe you've exhausted their banter?

I don't know if it is a bug or not, but I noticed that yesterday as well, they did much more in the previous games, in my opinion... I don't know if they start doing more further in the game, but for now, they just banter occasionally...

They've never really talked, so I don't think I've exhausted it. I can count the times of banter on both hands and I'm pretty far into the game. They do banter during story mission (or rather they comment on stuff, not really talk with each other) or when a guest character is involved, but never really among themselves.

The last time there was actual companion banter was in the Mires, while clearing a beacon. Bull and Blackwall talked and I almost had a heart attack. That was 5 hours ago. I don't  think that that's completely normal.

I heard David Gaider (the lead writer) say in one of the many DA:I streams on Twitch that there is no fixed banter trigger points: it's totally random in this game except when you are close of a point of interest like a treasure. Maybe the lack of banter in your case is a bug or maybe not... Only the devs would know I guess :(

Already posted it in the technical forums as well. Everybody deserves some banter in their life. I only noticed how much I missed it, when I did Varric's companion quest and he was talking like a waterfall.

I've 23h playing time and yet I've only had 5 banters so far, this doesn't seem normal at all! What's going on am I having a bug on my game too? (Playing on PC by the way).

It does seem pretty infrequent for me too. Hard to quantify, except that the more banter there is, the more live and engaged the world feels…

I'm about like you.  Compared to DA:O and DA2, they almost don't banter.

My party hardly banters at all... I've had a few, but not many... In comparison, when I was watching a Stream, Minx's party seemed to banter A LOT more... so probably a bug?

Hm...maybe it's a problem of the - main - party that you are running? (why would you have two warriors anyway?)

I still agree, that the rate is probably down (the areas are larger, so there's probably more banter in the game just much more spaced out?)

To me, they seem to talk a lot.  But yeah, the banter is mostly on a timer now, they'll pipe up after a certain amount of time.  I've also had them respond to things and people in the environment.  Solas in particular seems to like giving his opinion on things.

I actually vary the characters all the time, I don't have a fixed party. I would assume if I would run around with the same people all the time, the banter would exhaust itself. They do comment on stuff in the environment though, just no talk with each other.

The silence is quite annoying. I was exploring the world and suddenly they started bantering, I was like "What? I had forgot I HAD COMPANIONS!" Really, sometimes I feel so lonely I want to cry... I miss the good old Leliana x Morrigan x Alistair banter, or Varric and Isabella gossiping all the time, that was so immersive, sometimes even Hawke was involved in the conversation, I stopped playing to watch, but now, it's a shame...

10 hrs in. I'm in the Hiterlands and the Bog? anyway, it's me, Cass, Varric and Solas. little banter and that's mostly Varric making a comment or Cass saying "we should explore".  Impossible to initiate talk with your group either.

I'm having quite a lot of banter. About 5-6 between Varric and Cassandra alone, I think one with Varric and Solas, one with Solas and Blackwall... Not counting those in the prologue, cause they seem to be scripted.

It's quite random - sometimes you can go for 2 hours without hearing much, and then you'll hear 2-3 in one hour.

I think they've reduced the frequency a bit, because of several reasons:

1. The game is far larger, so if they did a lot of banter, they could start repeating themselves/stopped bantering all together midway through the game

2. There're no fixed banter points - In DA:O you could hear Alistair and Morrigan or Morrigan and Leliana banter every time you passed the little bridge in Lothering - in DA:I it's just random.

3. Frequency of bantering may be reduced if you're just exploring, compared to doing a major story quest - speculation on my part.

Same problem here, I'm about 30 hours in and I can count the banters on one hand. I'm sad how much this ruins the game. I never realized how important the banter was to te feel of the series until it was gone

Mine seem to banter often, but they have slowed down a little. I just picked up Sera, so the bantering may pick up.

My initial party bantered frequently for a while and then it just...stopped. I'm about 40 hours in and I've heard maybe 8 banters in total. This is seriously depressing.
