Hello everyone.

Sorry for my english. :(

I've been confused by elven appearance too. Registered here just to share the pic. That's what i've noticed-

Some of the gear looks different(normal/as designed) in craft window than it does in the game world.

Did not have chance to check other gear but rogue.

It's clearly NOT normal:

Thank you for posting this. Your contribution is highly appreciated. It is truly sad to look at it. Interesting: in both cases thumb is diving(clipping) straight into jacket

I quickly loaded up the game and snapped a screencap, and this is what the elf looks like to start:

Spoiler

So (at least to me) not all elves are created with disjointed arms!  But it does seem like some combinations of armors can cause this.

I believe the problem isn't seen when roaming around, but in forced conversations and cutscenes, especially when wearing the default clothes.

Depends on armour I think. And no matter what the armour type you put, during cinematic your arms are glued to the ribcage

This completely ruined elf for me and it just gets worse and worse the further you get into the game. It starts out looking a little odd in the starting armour. Then gets weird by Haven. Then becomes a full on crime against nature by Skyhold. I'm seriously surprised it made it into the final game given how evident it is.

I could swear the male elf model is improperly rigged to the female elf skeleton.

Indeed. Male elf is broken, it is a fact, botched model. It must get fixed

Did you send it there? Well, they should have information about it already considering Mister Schumacher participation in this thread.

Crafting shot is without armour arm mods, in world shot is with armour arm mods, that is why they look different, arm mods change the look of the arms.

On Cassandra some arm mods on certain armours, break the model and leave big gaps in her model along the shoulder seams.

But why did it break arm?

The smithy hammered those arm mods onto the armor while the elf was still wearing it.  That hammer is a lot heavier than it looks.

Then digital medic is required. 2 weeks of wait and counting.

Just play a female elf. They are probably the best storyline in the game. (IMO)

Thank you for suggestion but no thank you. I'm a male and I play only male characters in the RPG games, voice, romances. I do not wish to feel regret. Also, it would be an immersion breaker for me. And by doing so I would passively 'allow' BioWare to release botched content.

Thank you for suggestion but no thank you. I just don't think that being a guy is a reason to not play a female in a video game. However not being able to immerse yourself is, just don't let being a guy be the reason you can't immerse yourself. Immersing yourself doesn't mean thinking like a women while playing, but rather playing the game and viewing things from her point of view. I respect that completely. Different strokes for different folks. But I hope that doesn't stem from you thinking it's weird to play a female character in video games because your a guy. You'd be limiting yourself by doing this. Female Elven mages see a side of the story no one else does, and it's much deeper than the others. I'm a guy, and I don't think it's weird at all for guys to roll female, as long as it's not for some stupid reason like "I wanz 2 wach boobz whn I play". I play a female elf because like I said - it brings a whole nother side to Inquisition. I feel like the rest of my playthroughs will be ruined since I made this my first one and its so good.

To me it would be weird to do so. I'm strongly bound to my gender; voice; behaviour and even approach to romantic pursuits. I would feel bad while playing a female character, especially when the dialogue I repeat in my head with a voice of man would be spoken with female voice in my headphones. I understand benefits from romancing Solas but it would simply not work for me.

Only broken-glued arms fix can save me.

Completely understandable. I edited my above post to include a few sentences. One of them being below.
"Immersing yourself doesn't mean thinking like a women while playing, but rather playing the game and viewing things from her point of view." It is sort of like how millions of males will play with the British voice because it sounds BETTER, when in real life they have an American voice. That doesn't stop them from choosing it though. Same reason I choose female elf, it has the BETTER storyline. I'm in no way saying you are wrong, just stating why it is okay.

Sorry for interrupting the thread with this discussion, lol.

My immersion is narrow and very much limited. If I don't see myself in the game then it is a no-no.

No need to apologise. It is fine.

Friendly reminder oh mighty folk who haunt these chambers: if you have a twitter, send your message to: https://twitter.com/dragonage inform them of our plight and cause at least a cascade of sympathetic tears

The male elf is so terrifyingly skeletal in his Haven pajamas that it has to be a bug.

Female Elf also suffer some issues, fortunately she stands with her arms swayed out so it's not very noticable.

Issue isn't only with the armors. In some cutscene, the inquisitor will lean over something and he/she will literally be floating above something.

Additionally, during cutscenes, male elf Inquisitor has glued arm sto the ribcage.

Similar name to yours? Coincidence?

Yeah, a coincidence. I wish I could claim that amazing flash of fenris dancing to that music. My name, Shayde, is actually taken from the Eragon books. Shayde are a race of sorcerer like beings in the book, and i really liked it. Shayde is usually taken, though, so Blue Shayde I became. :)

If it was that easy. I always prefer to play male characters. As a girl, I just enjoy dressing up and looking at a male character more then a female for +50 in game hours. And I wanted to romance Dorian...who makes the most want-to-hug sad puppy face expression in the world. I swear. I do have a secondary female elf to romance Solas. And a female dwarfette. (who may end up not romancing anyone) And a male Qunari to dig it with Iron Bull. Cause...I enjoy that sort of thing. B)

But my elf male is who I want as my main original character and the one I want to beat the game first with.

Haha, as a guy I can agree with you, it's nice to look a female for 50+ hours opposed to males. Funny to see it goes both ways :).

Glad to hear that it's not a prominent issue, I can deal with that luckily.

I see. Please, if you use social media such as twitter, contact https://twitter.com/dragonage and let them know that we still cannot start our playthroughs. It needs to be goin and it needs to be visible. Hopefully, with their quality testing the patch, we will  get it fixed. It should be among the priorities.
