Right, cuz elves cannot be fat or muscular..

I don't know details of elven physiology in Dragon Age universe. Maybe they cannot.

By the way, is it just me or are Male Elves tall this time around ?

Male Elves in this game seem to be taller than Female Humans and as tall as Male Humans, which I find odd.

In previous games, Male Elves were shorter than Female Humans. Personally, part of the appeal of playing as a Mal Elf in DAO was that they were short and lean. In DAI, they look tall and underfed.

At least that is my impression, I could be mistaken.

Could someone post a picture of a Male Elven Inquisitor standing beside Cassandra or Leliana or Josephine ?

Yeah. Same height as humans, or so it seems.

My Dalish male never had any issues like that, not that I've noticed. I've had other problems. lol Of course, I always wore mage outfits or the Dragon Armor set. Maybe it's an armor mesh issue?

It is more like skeleton being stretched too much to make elves thin but animations wasn't adjusted so that causes all the clipping and arms being glued to body.

So the way to fix that is to stretch shoulders bones back, not as wide as human size but a little bit wider than current size. That would really make them look much better, i think.

You must have missed it.

Hopefully they will do so and they will do so fast. I want to start playing this broken-glued game.

Yeah. Same height as humans, or so it seems.

Spoiler

So when it comes to height, here is how it is from the shortest to the tallest :-

1) Female Dwarf

2) Male Dwarf

3) Female Elf

4) Male Elf & Female Humans

5) Male Humans

6) Female Qunari

7) Male Qunari

8) Iron Bull

9) Corypheus (have you see how freaking tall he is ?)

You know, I actually like the Female Humans = Male Elves in height. They are my favorite pairing in fantasy literature and fantasy games. Think back to Aragorn and Arwen. In DAO, its Surana and Morrigan.

Now if they only fixed the noodle arm bug and give us a new set of clothes for Skyhold, my Lavellan will be good to go.

Although this Male Elf = Female Human height raises one question and that is this:- What is the Male Elf body model = Female Human - Breasts - Arse + Narrow Shoulders ?

Because if you look at the Male Elf in game, they have the breasts of prepubescent girls...

It is human male body but just squished. His well built chest looks ridiculous this way. I hope that what Kiitosu says is true and it will take only to resize model. It would also increase quality of look in the armours.

About model- male elves are male humans with weirdly narrowed upper part. That makes their arms broken and their boobs girly coz after stretching elven manboobs are more round than they should be. About hips/arse- its as wide as male human from its front and as big from its side.

And it is quite funny when you look at his back. It looks so big, almost female like.

Fascinating. If this is the case they how are Male Elves as tall as Female Humans only ? They should be as tall as Male Humans but with wonky shoulders and spaghettified arms no ?

Just wondering...

That's how they should change elves in my opinion.

Spoiler

Proportions are more proper now but yet thin.

it's 3d modeling thingie. For instance, if you stretch waist bone, other linked bones (arms, head, chest, neck, etc.) will scale too. Lower part is as big as human but upper body is smaller, so the height is

How long should such operation take? Less than one day to get it fixed?

For the 3d model itself around 10-15 min, not sure about unpacking/repacking/replacing it into the game. As far as i know frostbite is hard to mod, but i'm almost sure this is something developers are capable of.

Then I expect a fix for it in the first patch. there is no excuse for leaving it out! Why wouldn't thet fix it before the release. Did they think that people will accept botched work or there was no male elf test.

Interesting information. I learnt something new today. Thanks !  :D

Same here. It appears they have 2 ways to fix the elf

  1. Make the Elves thinner to make the body proportions right. This is the easiest way.
  2. Fix the buggy noodle arms for every armor. This will take a damn long time and cost too much.

I am perfectly okay with the idea of a lean and short elf. That is how elves should look like, IMO.

I don't care about their money its affect on method of choice. I just want it fixed. When I put armour then I don't want to feel like a sloppy worker in the glue factory nor I wish to have my arms broken like [random metaphor].

or they will just scale bones to make chest/shoulders wider. It will affect EVERY armor elves can equip.

Still sure it's not model broken but skeleton the model rigged to. Looks like was done in a rush.

Anyways, we are not developers to choose what to do. Everything we can do is to sit and hope they will fix it and fix it properly

Wow, that edited picture already looks better and more properly proportioned. Really, the whole issue lies in the fact they squished the upper body and didn't polish it afterward, or test the animations with the new form. Just widen the shoulders properly. Yeesh.

Meh, different strokes and all - I think that Fenris mod is freaking awesome he actually looks like the bad ass warrior that he is. Seriously how could the original Fenris hit as hard as he does without muscle? Lyrium not withstanding. :)

I liked the first round of elves, no idea why they changed them. My Warden was lovely and proportioned (manly and muscular) and then they did...whatever they did to them in DA2 that turned them into sci fi creations. This time round they look more like tall pixies.

I think Blue Shayde is right and a shoulder width tweak would fix the arm issue, and even I could live with their anorectic look if they had shoulders (and no more moobs).

But I doubt that it will happen to be honest, there are so many issues in the game (god where is all the banter I expected to get? One or two per hour is better than some are getting but still...really?) and if they really cared what the elf lovers wanted, they would have stuck with the models they promised us in the early leaks.

I have offically written the elves in the DA universe off myself. There is always DAO I suppose. Ahhh Zevran. :)

It is one of the biggest bugs, considering it is affecting one of the playable races. I do not wish to minimalise importance of banter, but cutscenes are the heart of this game. This must get fixed.

Hey, I agree with you- I'm playing a human and not loving it at all, hell I prordered based on the leaked character models so feel completely ripped off! Wouldn't have bought the game at full price if I knew what they'd done to the elves.

But it's the developers who make the decisions and they passed it through QA as is. I'm just saying don't hold your breath.

There is one benefit in playing humans, armours look fabulous on them. Yes, the leaked character model, I did the same. I don't think it is possible to create the same face - but there was most certainly written with small letters: does not represent final product, or something.

They have already acknowledged it as bug, codename: noodle arms. If it is a bug and they won't fix? Are they brave enough to pour more oil to the flames they already receive? Well, most probably they are, but still it is nice to pretend that you have a hope for a fast solution.
