It does get a little annoying when people pop in and tell us the broken arms are not a bug and don't need fixed. I think we have gathered plenty of in-game evidence that it is in fact a bug.

I mean, yeah I complain about the skinny arms. But I can live with it. I just want the arms to stop doing weird things in cutscenes.

So...2 days. In 2 days, we'll see if Bioware took our issue to heart as well. I just hope this patch doesn't break the game for me (took a lot to get it to run without a lot of lag  ).

I still can't run it without dropping to 30 fps when there are more than a few NPCs on screen. I suspect something somewhere is broken, because my FPS doesn't change even when I scale my resolution down so much it looks like legos.

I think the arm thing is pretty much guaranteed to get fixed though. If not in a couple of days then I'm sure they'll get it in the next patch.

I found an armor matching my Display Pic :o

Now, assuming that there aren't any cotton stuffings in the sleeves and chest, this is how the Elves built should be. Not the one seen when in the PJs >.< I'd like to be in this badass armor when I judge people on the throne or just walking around in skyhold in general, makes me look more like the "Inquisitor" with those two badges just below the shoulders :)

Also some PC tips though but off topic:

1. How to increase fps rates.

2. Hide UI for better screenshots

  • Press tilt button for console
  • Type UI.drawEnable 0 (To hide)
  • then UI.drawEnable 0 (To re-enable)

This game is so Beautiful omagad T-T

I have run out of things to do cept the dragon fight in the Hinterlands now :P I am too afraid to progress the story in fear the broken arms in the inevitable cutscenes :x I shall just roam around and farm for more elfroot and send Josie on that gold mission haha

Thank you! On this page you will find twitter links: http://forum.bioware...#entry18003175 to be specific this post: http://forum.bioware...ay/?p=18002369  Pity, though, some people consider this bug and my 'obsession' with it as something less important than other game breaking bugs. I don't know if they have bought RPG game or just a case of pretty fireworks and farming. How can anyone say 'merely immersion'

And also, thanks for starting this post too ^^

In the same boat with you man.. Would be a real shame if this was intended.

Have you Noticed that when you are human and put on Inquisitor Battle Armor (Not the one with the red colors. I forget what its called) it changes the size of your character, drastically puffing out the torso and injecting the forearms with instant Mark Mcquire steroid syndrome look.

I'm having problems with the elven male model as well  :(. Once or twice my elven PC's arms have even clipped into his hips.

It's mostly just the arms bending at that really awkward angle, but I'm also not fond of my elf's shoulders being smaller than his waist. It makes him look wonky.

Both these problems could be fixed by widening their shoulder area.

Even if this was intentional I hope they can see people are very unhappy and change it.

Also a screenshot of some major clipping I posted in another thread:

PC shots look friggin incredible. Damn, One day when I can afford to not only own the best gaming pc possible and continue to upgrade but also to have someone do all the upgrading and **** for me. I know its probably easy. Ive installed graphics cards before but I like the convinieance of my PS4  and hope that one day playstation will create a PC like console that will allow for updates that keep the software and hardware (making sense? idk) on the cutting edge/ In fact I think that consoles in the "next generation" are supposed to have that kind of comatability where they can be improved over time with updates that increase its overall capabilities or perhaps that was another lie. (Thank god some truly next gen games are around the corner. Not saying DA I isn't but the Witcher 3 looks like the definition of Next Gen. It fuckin better be or im done. Im selling all my gamng equipment and consoles and games and buying crack then smoking myself to death, yea im crazy.)

Is it design choice? Are DA elves so unique that they can massage their organs? Pretty neat skill, to hide your hands inside your body.

If this is not immersion breaking then I don't know what is.

So the pic:

Spoiler

Lets say:
1- I made human model and i am all happy the way it looks.
2- I want and i make pose/animation for that model.
3- I want to make elven race by simply scaling/moving some bones my human model rigged to. So what will i get? Elven body i'm ***ok*** with............. But what will happen to that pose i made before? See for yourself

Kinda reminds me what happens with dalish dudes in the game

I'm not seeing similarity there at all because it doesn't seem the scaling replicates the elf issue; though in my understanding the issue is a weird inward bend on the upper arm, not that the arms are pressed closer against the torso? If the complaints are actually about the latter then we've had a miscommunication going the entire time.

I don't know the way model rigged is. But the reason for upper arm being so weird looking might be mix of changed mesh model/changed skeleton. Depends on weighting. Currently there are two things elven guys suffer from 1- too narrow shoulders causing all the clipping and glued arms 2- weird upper arm form caused by i'm-not-so-sure-why.

Tried to duplicate the same bug in 3ds max by moving bones/changing meshes/changing rig weight. Had no problems like in game model has. But the model/skeleton i use in 3d max is totally different from the one we see in the game so it's really hard to say who is the reason.

That's why i'm interested in ripping game's skeleton with elven model rigged to it so i can see what happens.

But, as told before, it's better if bioware fixes that bug before modders do.

Thank you for suggestion but no thank you. I'm a male and I play only male characters in the RPG games, voice, romances. I do not wish to feel regret. Also, it would be an immersion breaker for me. And by doing so I would passively 'allow' BioWare to release botched content.

By this train of thought you should also play Humans only as well. Just saying. :P

Yeah I am pretty sure Dorian is juicing.

After reading through all this, sucks man. I haven't played the male elf yet, but I do hope it gets fixed for you all.

My nightmare playthrough is a Human Warrior and my playthrough with my wife is a Female Elf Rogue.

I think a major issue with a lot of this is that 90% of the animations are the same no matter your race or sex. Which I can understand from an Engineer hours point of view.

However a lot of times our petite elf lass walks around like she is carrying invisible suitcases full of heavy stuff.

Races, unlike genders are native to the world of Thedas. They are more of an ideals with different races representing different human aspects and If I were to take them as completely separate entities then I would choose elf again, because they are the superior race and it fits my ego pretty well. Anyway, trains are so XIX.

This fix is what actually puts my game to a complete lagging stop. Which is why the patch worries me. I can't unlock the cutscene framerate and still be able to play the game, it seems.

I still can't handle the thought of playing human. So boring. There are millions of games that 'let' me play as human. I value the ones that change it up. Besides, the lore for elves in Dragon Age is amazing, and in fact just got even MORE amazing in DAI as I've continued playing. Why miss out when I can be even closer to that lore as an elf myself?

That's my problem with a voiced protagonist in general, I guess.  DA2 did the mood thing right.  You could at least pick which way to go every time.  But you can make the grumpiest, bitterest dwarf and he's gonna sound chipper as a munk in dialogue in DA:I.  Just have to guess at the convo options.

It's like I see these posts from you every single day. Is this how you're going to spend your 2015 year? I'd say if they don't patch it this time, just give it up. Their is no reason in spending countless hours posting on some forum thread about the glory of elves in video games and how it is immersion/real-life world ending to a company that clearly has other things on it's agenda. I understand it's annoying if you want to play a male elf - but it's almost starting to look pathetic that so much time is being spent everyday by you to complain about the seriousness and world ending phenomenon of arms...

If there is a good will within BioWare then we shall receive it in the form of fixed elves tomorrow. I do the sam ething, pick games and movies I have not played before and every time I launch them I feel as if I'm doing something wrong. I've paid quite a lot for this game and I should be playing it right now.

If the cause requires it from me then it might be 2015-16-17(...). I will not give up, I will not surrender my customer's right to finished product. As a man, customer and person of intact integrity, I will never accept being a receiver of a broken content. You are quite right, w should not limit it to the forums but also inform gaming press about it. These are not the arms I call for but game working as intended. Broken-glued arms are only symptoms of a far greater disease eating this industry. Companies ship their games unfinished. It is not 'just a game'. It is a multi million market. I thank you for your concerns about how I'm or may be perceived by others, but it matters not. We are not talking about a side content, little rock by the flowing stream, we are talking about one of the main races offered for us to play with. There were no elves in DAII and we were promised to get our playthroughs with fine elves in DA:I. It has been almost 5 years since DA:O. It is unacceptable.

Sorry J G, but there is plenty reason for "spending countless hours posting on some forum thread" as this isn't just "some forum thread", it's Bioware's forum thread. Specifically, Bioware's forum thread on the character creator within Dragon Age: Inquisition. Because I and others like me (Lord Surinen as you so shamelessly singled out is one) are so passionate about the games Bioware creates, we feel the need to express our concerns, however, whenever, and as much as we'd like to. They watch, they see, and they listen. It may be a repeated comment and complaint, but it matters to us and that's exactly why he's being a broken record.

We understand it's a game, but we also enjoy the entertainment medium that is video games and we won't sit idly by while they release games full of bugs/glitches that we pay good money for. We don't hate Bioware, our lives aren't going to end if they never fix the elves arms, but it is a huge concern to us, the players, and that's what truly matters at the end of the day.

I find it odd when people on the internet get annoyed by other people, especially in forums, and begin telling them to bugger off. Lord Surinen in this particular instance created this forum as a means to express his concerns and it turns out he wasn't alone. You're more than welcome to discontinue participation or join us as much as the other person, no one is making you read these posts and no one is telling you off. We respect your opinion and we hope you respect ours. But for the love of Elgar'nan lol, don't try to tell us to give up. We will not. We want improvement!

My fault, we'll be sure to go through and list off the names of every forum poster who DOES agree each and every time we would normally use the word "we" in every forum post from here on out. It's going to make for some pretty long winded sentences though, but hey, we gotta be correct right?

That's sarcasm by the way lol...good day.
