The likelihood that they are being rushed to patch and get things fixed by the end of the season is very high. At least here in USA, christmas time is a big release and sales time for games. If the buzz about broken stuff now seems bad, watch for the after holiday buzz. Yeesh...

Not really. They would need to look over all the current animations, and maybe view him in a couple cutscenes since that is where the issue has made itself the most present.

According to what Kiitosu seemed to find, its just a rigging in the upper bone that warps weirdly when moved about.

There are 3 bones in each arm like that  no idea what they for, for muscles simulation maybe, so they DO simulate...

3 bones? That's a little excessive for character rigging in the arm. Maybe two at least for flexibility, but three?

1+2(twist) for upper arm, 1+1(twist) for forearm, and a whole bunch of bones for a hand(would be challenging to count them all,) So looks like those 2 extra(twist) bones in the upper arm cause that weird bending. Glued arms is a different story.

Can't check yet, it's not possible to get animations for now, just skeletons and meshes.

I don't want to misinform everyone whos reading this thread <.< Let's say it's only a suggestion.

The extra bones in the arm are usually added to prevent mesh/skinning from getting really ugly when the arm is twisted. Here's a decent article which illustrates the issue and how such setup is used to correct it: http://td-matt.blogs...oll-joints.html

For what's worth DAO/DA2 used the same system, it's nothing new.

Oh, i understand, thank you, so it used to twist the mesh smoothly.

Just watched the vid, as i understand skeleton has IK control there. The one exported from DA:I doesnt, might be the problem as well.

DO NOT UPDATE PATCH!

Ughhh.... Origin auto updated the patch before I could cancel it. Since I am avoiding the main quests to wait for a broken arm fix, I can't even explore now since my game has been forcibly reduced to low graphics.. The draw distance has been reduced to 10-20 feet and plants are springing to life wherever I go. This game is now unplayable for me. I did not upgrade my rig to play this!

For those who have not updated the game: Disconnect your internet before opening origin, then uncheck auto update games and reconnect

I'm so sorry for you Knots. It sucks for those who couldn't keep origin from updating. :(

This problem seriously makes me mad. I love playing as an elf because i love the underdog story, but its just so hard to get into the story when every cut scene my arm is sinking into my ribs. I've been playing Farcry 4 until they fix this because I really want to experience my first run through the way I want to, with a male elf mage, the most discriminated against character I feel I can create.

Just play a Qunari Mage. Even some of the elves hate your guts, even if you could snap them over your knees. Plus you'll definitely have the muscle mass.

Many of us prefer to play superior race. Qunari are not exactly a dream to be. Horned simpletons who accept many abominable behaviours. Elvhes are the only answer!

Does this happen to male elves as well with Enchanter Mail Arms?

Shows up in Cinematics but only during gameplay when mesh quality is set to Ultra

Here I am controlling some guy with my 'Mangled Arms' ability

Could you check girl elf model please ?

There're been 3 person who reported the same problem on them but I don't see it on mine.

Only a modder can check that issue and tell us if it's related to 3D model or the armors.

If the armors are the issure we will need to aqk people to write what armors cause the problem on elf girl.

all character models animated/rigged in the same way, checked some armour for differences, nope, absolutely the same.

I'd try that enchanter armor to see if it works that way on a male elf...but that armor is so hideous on the males.

'Abominable behaviours', eh what do the Qunari accept that no else does in DA:I?

There is no need to go into details. Qunari are Qunari. Elvhes are Elvhes. I'm an elf adorer and I would not let myself steer one of these steppes' beasts

Thanks for checking the armors, so that "bug" it's race specific ?

I don't know, armour models look fine, character models look fine, skeletons are different but weighted in the same way. Developers know best :)

Out of curiosity, did you check the models for the armour "sleeves" too?

It could well be something more subtle, like (some) of the "sleeve" models being weighted for skeleton with bones indexed in different order and so winding up incorrectly weighted when the game puts the data together. Impossible to say without knowing exactly how the game stores/reads/combines/interprets these things.

yes theres something weird about upper arm being rigged in a different order than bones linked, but since every mesh (nude body, slevees, etc) and human(female) does not have problems like other race does ,i doubt its something related to rigging.

one thing is really odd that i dont have any idea where male human skleton located . nd i dont want to make suggestions about that problem we have, im not even near to consider myself pro, so its better for developers to do their job they know better.

totally agree the problem could be in code, skeleton or animations. but theres a tool which reads data files and can export skeleton properly and order bones linked is the same in every skeleton for any race ,gender.only joints positions are different( and mybe scaling) .

idk

edit --------- hierarchy seems to be fine, nvm about order, makes sense to me now, my bad. <_<

==================

Tried to export human model using elven skeleton, got weirdly skinned mesh ( not symmetrical, left arm rigged to other bones, not like right arm)

Also, when i was looking for other rigged stuff, there's a bone called UpperArmQuat_GS (shoulder area) and some meshes have  vertices weighted to it ( in human male, elven female, human female, Abelas, Calpernia models) some not (elven male body, few elven male sleeve meshes, didnt check for different  races/parts ). i'm lost. and sleepy, will check later if i have mood to do so, it's really bothersome wandering thru every single sb file to find armour parts.

I'm not even sure if it's topic related. Kill me  :(

aaaaaaaaaaaand i am really sorry for my english, i am so sleepy typing this wall of text and so tired checking stuff, my brain is kinda slow, very slow.

You have done it with the use of cheat engine and mighty BioWare is looking how to implement it in the game. Amusing, is it not. You should most definately post it in the patch 2 thread to show people who are they dealing with every time they see 'investigating'.'looking into'
