Also, how the hell did Bioware promise that their elves will look very nice. I know this is subjective but really the body proportions and broken bones are some abomination or what?

God, I wish I could figure out how to use cheat engine. I tried once, and its just so....ugh..................I just can't figure out how to work it. -_-

Yeah, if it wasn't for the ton of junk software that gets installed with cheat engine (and I am pretty nervous about what unseen crap it also installs) I would absolutely have used it to get around these little issues.

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can use it with all the junk it installs on your PC...

They went a different direction with their art for elves. They wanted them to be lithe. Granted, they are thin that's for sure.  I just think everyone was expecting to see DA:O type body proportions, which were just a shorter human.

Personally, I think they went a little too far with the elven models. They look way too thin for my taste and the armor doesn't help any.   The only good looking armor is the stuff the Ancient Sentinel Elves get.  Which i'm still pissed it's not in the game other then on the 2nd armor for the Arcane Warrior on MP.

Is it female or male? PC should look lik this, laying on the table or its just an effect of terrible model?

Female, in that scene you lay on the table but just look at the elbow and proportions. Just wrong.

This is the impressive design. You've heard about it in the promotional materials. I want patch this week.

Yeah, at first, an elf PC does have the cornered puppy thing going on, but what do you expect. He left his clan to go to the conclave, it's his first real experience, beyond a bit of trading, with shems and, he gets arrested and accused of murder. Yeah, he's scared and, trapped so that's right. He losses that later and, becomes (if you choose) a rather bosst, arogant elf that decidedly want to and is caable of being keeper of the world.

Excuse me? I do not think that it is the topic of discussion, unless you mean that new experiences break your arms and glue them to your body? No, definately you must have posted in the wrong thread.

Yeahh both the female and male bodies kind of suffer from extreme anorexia. The females literally look like skin and bone to me, no muscle mass whatsoever with a head too large for their body. Same with the guys, only the guys are more prominent because every male from the other races actually has proportional muscle mass.

I don't mind anorexia, even though Solas presents better proportions in his outfit. It is a design choice, but broken and glued arms are not.

Mantis queen preparing for neck assault.

Week ago I've learnt that they are investigating or looking into male elf models. This week - what will we learn this week?

There's some bitching about the male elf on reddit as well I see, and since the devs apparently lurk there they will at least see that the issue goes beyond this thread.

I've tried and failed with my elf run. Just can't do it. Even picking the smallest head from the presets he ends up looking like a stick insect with a grape stuck on its head.

And OMG! In the rogue 'armours'?! It is just awful, he looks like someone has been sucked out of the workhouse in a Charles Dickens novel, bunged into some uppercrust toff clothes and had ears stuck on.

No.

Just No.

I mean those armours are utterly ridiculous as it is- I keep hearing Adam Ant's Stand and Deliver in my head as my guy tools around the world looking like a highwayman. Seriously, I'd like a toke of whatever the armour designer was smoking when they thought them up.

So I'm back to playing a human because at least my eyes aren't burning. But honestly, my motivation to finish this game is fizzling. I kind of wish I'd bought it digitally instead of a physical copy because I would have got a refund early on  when I saw the mess they made of the elves (despite their promise to fix them). Right now it is just the thought of wasting $90 (not to mention the $1400 I spent on a new system to play this game o.O) that is keeping me going.

Really ?

Does he has the same broken arm bug then ?

I though he was a bit different but that's good.

Yeah, like others said, if he's equipped with armors that use the PC's body model rather than his "default" model, he gets the arm issue. I've posted this cap before, but for example:

But he still has wider shoulders than the PC elf for some reason.

I just don't understand. Was it too much to ask for elves to have a similar body type to the humans?

My warrior city elf from Origins is more convincing than the best one I created today after at least four hours of creation.

Fact is, his face is now acceptable, not really cool, but decent nonetheless. But the body...Ugh.

How come Solas, Sera and all of the other elves in the game don't look anorexic? What, the Lavellan clan was having supplies issues or something?

That armor (and the Dalish armor in general) gives male PCs wide shoulders, as well. It's just not immune from the collapsing arm syndrome.

Ah...sadly I do not like to play mage. :(

I am going back to Origins I think, then on to some other games I have yet to play or maybe ME again since Shepard is so awesome. Hopefully something will be done to fix this in the new year and I will get to finish the game.

And the lesson I have learned is this : never pre-order a game. Ever. POE looks very promising Elf wise, but I will surely be waiting and seeing after this!

Now I need to find something system hogging to play so I can feel justified buying this rig!

Shoot, I want back the body that Fenris had...

Spoiler

And how about Merrill?

Spoiler

This is what lithe elves with unbroken arms are supposed to look like. <_<

Fun fact: the body of female elves in DAI is pretty much identical with the one from DA2:

2hyif07.jpg

(DAI on the left, DA2 on the right)

that means your DAI female elf has actually that very "lithe Merril figure" you covet.

Same with the male elves:

The black mesh is male elf outfit from DAI, white mesh is elf body from DA2. As you can see, they line up.

So rejoice, you already got your wish and didn't even know ;>

I hated the elf bodies in DA2 as well, so no wish fulfillment for me <_<

That kind of makes it even more impressive as it seems to indicate that even when recycling assets it still got bungled in the rigging somewhere.

Its approaching "You had ONE job!" territory. >.>

Today I folded.

My first choice for playing a character in DA:I was a Qunari, however I was distinctly put off by their lack of options with armour, hairstyles and the like.

So my next choice was an elf. I rolled an elf mage, had some fun, didn't like his face that much but I really did not like the fact that more often that not, his arms would clip into his body or stay completely stationary when moving. I don't care about the body shape, per se. It's fine! But the arm clipping -- that's just not good enough.

Anyway, I tried to roll several other characters -- my next choice was to be a dwarf. But it just didn't feel right...I grew attached to my ugly looking, physics defying elf mage.

And so I decided to load him up again to see if I could try to ignore the bug. But once you realise it's there, it is impossible to not notice. Particularly when standing next to Solas or any other elf npc for that matter.

So this post serves as a shameless *bump* and a pitiful plea to the developers to do more than look into the issue...but to actually...you know...fix it.

I acknowledge that I'm being unreasonable and impatient at the moment and am looking in to getting some sleep...

I did the exact same thing you did lol. I tried and I tried...and I tried to ignore it. But 35+ hours later, I just could not stop staring at the glaring disfigured arms. I finally put the game down and it's waiting to be picked back up after the patch. God knows when that will be though...end our Elvish suffering Bioware XD!
