Male Elf model and its problems?

Today I folded.

My first choice for playing a character in DA:I was a Qunari, however I was distinctly put off by their lack of options with armour, hairstyles and the like.

So my next choice was an elf. I rolled an elf mage, had some fun, didn't like his face that much but I really did not like the fact that more often that not, his arms would clip into his body or stay completely stationary when moving. I don't care about the body shape, per se. It's fine! But the arm clipping -- that's just not good enough.

Anyway, I tried to roll several other characters -- my next choice was to be a dwarf. But it just didn't feel right...I grew attached to my ugly looking, physics defying elf mage.

And so I decided to load him up again to see if I could try to ignore the bug. But once you realise it's there, it is impossible to not notice. Particularly when standing next to Solas or any other elf npc for that matter.

So this post serves as a shameless *bump* and a pitiful plea to the developers to do more than look into the issue...but to actually...you know...fix it.

I acknowledge that I'm being unreasonable and impatient at the moment and am looking in to getting some sleep...

Nothing unreasonable and impetient. It should never be released in the current form. Every minute without a fix for it speaks against BioWare. They should fix it RIGHT NOW.

Don't forget to look here: http://answers.ea.co...04509#U4104509 and express your opinion about this atrocious, vile bug.

Already done :) (I posted as 'mumphanil').

I figured I'd vent some frustration here as well since there's been next to no response from anyone, EA or Bioware.

Aside from the infamous 'we've acknowledged this and are looking into it.' Which is code for: 'we'll think about it.' It's like the anti-guarantee.

Also it seems that I'm still looking into getting some sleep. Possibly going to look in to getting out of bed, going to the fridge and looking into it.

Ah, fine! Sure thing, you are free to vent on these disgusting scraps of models whenever you wish! Yes, I'm still waiting for more news. Maybe it requires a long stare, most definately, it must be a thing. They are looking into it since the first week, that is 4th week already.

Look, game companies have been pulling my leg for a while now, and I'm tired of it. I was promised good looking elves. I got a broken mess. I'm going to speak up about it on the forums until it is fixed.

Anyway, I haven't been playing since the mess up with a certain character in my game (mentioning names would be a huge spoiler), so I'm thinking of doing a complete restart of my elf mage. And if I do...I'm going to start cataloging every instance of the rigging bug. And the infamous fist bump. Cause it deserves a picture.

Yes, please, do so. BioWare should have announced third patch already. What is taking so long.

I hated the elf bodies in DA2 as well, so no wish fulfillment for me <_<

Yeah, if you are not a fan of them then that's not really good news ;/

I guess it at least makes things consistent between the last two games, vs the change between DAO and DA2.

When modders will be able to view the animation, maybe they will be able to try a fix...

I know, I prefer that Bioware do it themselves too.

It's the holidays. I highly doubt there will be another serious patch until sometime in January, honestly.

What...the.............................FFFFFFFFFF!!! Dear Andraste, I'm so tired of my single player games being turned into multiplayer focused games. Great! So now they are offering two content packs. A content pack for multiplayers....and a content pack that contains the exact same crap I got for buying the Deluxe version.

You know what we could have had if they'd not bothered with multiplayer gimmick? Probably a working game with good elf rigging, story-filled side quests, and a lot of the crap they promised and then ran out of time to do!

That's it. I give up! RIP Bioware.

tumblr_m2hllpxrNF1r9pade.gifSeriously. I'm not touching ME4 or DA4 unless it comes out perfect and has rave reviews from FANS and not paid critics.

I'm going to go play Persona Q. At least Atlus has never let me down.

Mass Effect 3 had a different team working on the MP aspect of the game. I think it's safe to assume that this hasn't changed for Dragon Age Inquisition.

Dancing Fenris, you are the only solace to my wounded heart at this point. Dance. Dance for me...

Seriously though, what is wrong with single player games? Why so much hate? Some of us enjoy single player games. I mean...that time, money, and resources could have been used to properly implement things in the game they promised and even showed off in demos. Or fix bugs and properly play test? Or actually put some thoughtful side quests in. But nope...nope....

Broken elf arms, empty quests, and bs for us.

Now this...this is actually so insulting it's almost comical. What are they thinking, if at all?
is this what has been worked on for the past month instead of a patch or additional content that people are pining for? Uggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I love this game, I really do. I think it's fantastic and one of the better ones I've played this year. But this really not good enough. I'm all for an evolution in direction and focus, so long as people aren't bloody condescended along the way.

$9.99 for a digital upgrade? Bioware should pay me for beta testing their game.

That's it.

I'm not gonna try to use the male elf anymore.

After playing as a badass Trevelyan, is just unbearable watching an anorexic elf as the hero of the story.

It's not like I didn't even try. I created at least seven elves in the past three days and I tried continuing the adventure even when they started bothering me. Well I just can't. Even if you create a handsome looking elf, the head just won't match the rest of the body and it is going to bother you.

I did notice that with a female elf the issues are less, but why should my choices have to be limited by something like this?

I had a story in mind for a elf mage Inquisitor, now I have to change race just because someone couldn't spend a little more time on their characters models.

Ugh.

It is sort of insulting. Specially since the 'new' content is just the digital deluxe stuff. Which really isn't all that worth it.

Quoting for emphasis.

They aren't robbing us of anything since the team that's doing multiplayer and its content aren't working on single player, and vice versa. So we aren't missing out on anything because of the MP pack, since that team wouldn't have been fixing anything related to single player anyway.

I can't find a picture of it, but I hide my Elfs arms beneath metal sleeves. I shall do so again when I can wear his newer armor.

Alas, in the Keep, they ... cannot be ... unseen. :pinched:

While there are separate teams working on singleplayer and multiplayer, the multiplayer content seems to have been budgeted for first...which is bizarre, to me at least. What I mean is that companies will talk about the expense of implementing additional features to their product, or running out of time and what have you. If the developers of the game had enough money to budget the team working on multiplayer and not the single player (the part of the game that is quintessentially 'Dragon Age' and an 'rpg'), I just don't get it.

Unless of course, the multiplayer team has a set budget to work with from the get-go, I'd say that resources have been spent on something that is, for the most part, an arbitrary addition.

I will say that I feel that I'm sounding like one of those entitled customers that comes in to where I work and demanding an explanation/their money back/to speak with the manager...and I don't want to be that person. But I don't think it's too much to get some information -- some good, solid information -- from someone in Bioware's ranks.

I dunno...

Is it really that bad to be viewed as an entitled customer? If we were promised one thing, then bought the product only to find out its the other, haven't we earned the right to question? To complain? If you buy a sweeper, take it home, and realize its broken....don't you have the right to bring it back and ask for a working one?

Games are no different from any other product on the market. And just like in a store, there are laws and rules that protect both the buyers and sellers. That is how trust is built between company and consumer. If the consumer is supposed to take whatever the company gives them without a single word, then companies can get away with anything. This eventually leads to an unbalanced market or a monopoly, which stifles economic growth and innovation.

I paid $80 dollars for a game, and its broken. Someone is going to hear my opinion on this.

I personally don't want to be viewed as an entitled customer (simply because I deal with them at work and they make life miserable), just one who would like some sort of communication between the developers and the community (which I thought was something Bioware prided themselves on -- and if that's limited to reading forum or blog posts and then implementing things in their next game...that's kind of sh*tty.)

But you're right, we do have the right to question and furthermore the right to be spoken to and communicated with. It does wonders for public relations and should be utilised by companies by default.

I am unashamedly egalitarian in my critique of consumerism :P

I to worked in retail and dealt with a certain TYPE of customer that is...well...yeah. However, those customers usually make most of their complaints up simply to get a discount, free stuff, or to feel important.

I'm not asking to feel important. I don't want a discount. I didn't break the game myself. I'm not making up these issues. They are real, and I'm simply voicing my protest of a broken product and waiting with baited breath on whether it gets fixed or not. And started to feel, as a jilted consumer who has bought one to many broken products, that maybe its time to give up on my once trusted brand and seek out another. But its hard, seeing as how Bioware was the only company that really gave me the sort of things I loved in my games.

I suppose this echoes my thoughts on the matter, actually. I'd not considered the fact that we, as customers, aren't just being difficult for the sake of being difficult. They're legitimate concerns, and ones that aren't even being acknowledged. Or rather, they're being acknowledged and 'looked into', which, again, is code for "weeeeelll we'll think about it." And that's negligent practice regardless of what goods or services you're providing.

Since I paid $90 for a game with 'great looking elves' and recieved a game with hideous malformed elves instead- I am entitled.

I am entitled to the product I paid for.

I am entitled to the opportunity to play the game as I was promised I would be able to- as a great looking elf.

I've given up on the game entirely and view it as a hard lesson learned- never ever buy a Bioware game full price, let alone pre order.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my DAO replay as a delightfully proportionate male elf at the moment though. Until I hear that some godlike modder has fixed the abortion that Bioware created I am over and out on DAI.

And to think I looked forward to the release.
