I'd say it's about the same, the PC is leaning a bit to the right. Still, when you compare it to the apprentice armour or the pgs the PC wears now and again, it does seem to confirm there's something up with the arms.

Maybe you are right. So maybe the problem is not of character model nature but outfit models? No, I better won't speculate, I have no idea how these things work. What does 'pgs' stand for?

Casual outfit plus early gear needs a fix if I get right what happend there.

The faction armors have one model that they use for each race/gender while all of the other armors are tailored to each character's model and personal style.

And I think Solas might just be more broader-shouldered than the male elf PC. He's got a unique model while all of the other male elf NPCs in the game look like the PC (as far as I can tell). Solas just seems a bit bulkier in general.

I'm not sure. Solas and PC look pretty similar in the same armour.

Poor elves and their broken arms. S looks superb

Really, it is not even needed to look at this art. Solas is the best example of how the elves should look.

I don't like the silence, no response from BioWare is not a good sign.

I agree. Solas' body is the best male elf body and they should have used that.

I actually ditched my male Lavellan playthrough because I really cannot stand how the male elf look in this game.

That's the thing. That armor is exactly the same model, only the head and skin colour is changed. That's why Solas looks a bit thinner than normal and the male elf PC looks less thin. It's because the faction armor has a single model for each race/sex. Put Blackwall in templar armor, for example, and he slims down a lot. Outside of faction armor, Solas looks like he has broader shoulders and a lot more muscle than the standard male elf model. Not sure if the arm thing is a glitch or not, but I don't think you should compare the male elf PC to Solas, as Solas was obviously meant to look unique. Same with the female elf PC and Sera.

So the armour presented is a faction one - what is the faction armour anyway? I would like to see PC in a different gear then. Solas should most definately share his uniqueness, because otherwise male elves will be broken beyond reason. These thin and disfigured arms scream for reroll. I don't have anything against simulators but Double Fraction: Save Thedas is not exactly what I have expected. Waiting continues. I will not start until we get official response. For Fen'Harel's sake, it is truly botched job.

Not the best screenshot (couldn't position them one next to another), but it basically shows the problem: http://oi60.tinypic.com/20ie26e.jpg:)

Even thought PC stands closer to the camera than Solas, the latter looks stronger and with wider chest (especially on the right screenshot). Maybe it is because of his tight clothes but still the general impression from the PC is pathetic.

It is light years from pathetic. It is dramatically disturbing. I'm willing to accept chest size but shoulders, arms? Do you see how bent they are. After a thought: no, chest is also too small. Are these really th elves we were promised to get, broken?

Yes, I would very much like to see PC in different clothes that are not faction ones(whatever they are in the first place) and not the skin tight t-shirt we see during private conversations.

By the way: does he have breasts? Weird.

Update:

Look at this gear:

fb507bf3b9.jpg

It is more than good, that being said it is an elven armour and I presume we get many different  outfits during our journey. One or two fine looking clothes won't save it.

[I must admit, person responsible for these designs has an excellent fashion sense. I would wear it everywhere]

Faction armor is any armor that doesn't change to suit a character's style. So if you put Solas in, say, the Grey Warden mage armor it looks just like the Grey Warden mage armor that you put on your PC (because it's the same model). But if you put both your PC and Solas in enchanter's robes then Solas looks like a magical hobo and your PC gets a cool coat.

And I don't think the fact that male elves look kinda scrawny is a bug. I mean, female elves look scrawny too. Bioware wanted to represent a variety of body types and used the different races to do so. So if you want a lithe-looking male character, then choose an elf. Medium-sized, choose a human. Short and stocky, a dwarf. And if you want to be enormous, choose a qunari. The fact that the male elf PC doesn't look like Solas isn't a bug.

So there are armours that change to suit style. I need to learn more about it.

I must be a bug. Solas in comparison with humans is also scrawny. Scrawny elves are not the problem, broken arms are:

No matter how I look at it I see an example of orthopedical nightmare. When I see it I think of The Thing movie or Dead Space game series.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry when I'm looking at these screenshots. Maybe a little bit of both. I don't know, maybe there is lore explanation for clipping hands, hm, like sharp elven fingernails cut through every kind of material and no pockets can stop them. It truly is magic, to hold staff while your arms seem to be kicked in.

I absolutely adore these DA Elves, especially the male elf in the first pic. His shoulders doesn't seem to have bone disease.

Yes. These look heroic. After spending so much time working on an elf face I liked, to log in and see the body and mannerisms of the characters just seemed so weak. Was a turn off.

Male Elf Inquisitor in Skyhold Outfit @ 00:44 Mark...

With every Male Elf PC gameplay vid I uncover, I grow more and more convinced that the PC Male elf models are shaped with full intention on making them look as scrawny as they are.. In the skyhold outfit, they resemble stick insects minus a pair of limbs! :S I thought elves in DA are supposed to be slim/slender not stickly sickly anorexic *-* A real shame, I was so hyped over the years to play as the inquisitor with the elf story only to find myself deciding against the latter. I really believed when Bioware said "Player experience is our top priority"... but.... I cant have a good experience with my favorite race and culture when I force myself to watch 5 wailing sticks moving about throughout the 200+ hours I will no doubt spend in this awesome game..

I'm not willing to accept this horribly thin body(for some reasons thighs are not so small which makes him look like a  mutant raptor-chicken]. Bigger problems start when you put armour on him and fractures/clipping appear.

Male elves need to appear at least like Solas. Narrow-low chest makes it look as if he has female breasts

I have no problems with slim elves but this is a damaged image with technical issues behind it. So many years of waiting, interviews, promotional materials, only to have your hands bend unnaturaly and sink in the armours.

I would really like to get a message from BioWare about it. Will it be fixed or we should ignore the elves (quite a pitiful solution considering their importance in DA:I). I just hope that when we get an answer it won't be 'it was our goal to create nanananana this is part of our design nanananan'. Concept arts show perfectly fine elves.

A ton of people complained about the elves' appearance in DA2 but unfortunately it was mostly focused on the giant fish eyes/Na'vi face as well as the lightbulb shaped head and those things were changed. Unfortunately I was always much more concerned with the body proportions. :(

If they were going to make them weird looking they should have done it from the beginning (and they could have gone all out with it) and not included all the statements about how beautiful elves are to humans.

To be honest, DAII elves are one of my favourite design wise ever. I prefer alien looking characters. I would not even mind thin body of DA:I elves if not for their broken arms. There is an obvious bug that bends hands before elbow. Probably the same bug makes hands to clip through the armour.

I know that somebody asked BioWare on tweeter. I have asked them through different social media. No answer, even though I know that my message got read. I perfectly know that there are many factors at work, but still, no answer is not a good sign.

Yes, they look like mutants.

This is my favourite screen, broken arms in their pure form:

*snip*

I like alien looking characters if they actually look extremely alien (I would have LOVED to play a Turian, Krogan, or Hanar in Mass Effect). The elves are too human looking but not human looking enough and are in that realm of creepy "not quite right-ness" called the uncanny valley. In DA:I this is only true of the body but in DA2 it was true of the face as well. The elf design doesn't look like a planned out decision, it looks like an amateur mistake no matter what their intention.

DAII elves looked spectacular to me. Original kind of beauty, just like Mer from TES series. I don't mind that much scrawny appearance. I do not want BioWare to remake whole model. All that I'm asking are small changes that would fix broken arms and clipping. I may accept looking like a stick but please, not a snapped one.

lol agreed! If they fixed the broken arms and made the shoulders 30% wider I'd be happy :D
