Also, how the hell did Bioware promise that their elves will look very nice. I know this is subjective but really the body proportions and broken bones are some abomination or what?

They have no problems with releasing new MP content just to earn from microtransactions. Welcome to the new LOW. Priorities.

To be completely honest I have given up on the single player and have been playing the multiplayer exclusively. I haven't even finished the game on any char yet. I wanted to play an elf, but I can't unseen the broken arms or the strung out heroin addict physique. I got a ways into the game with a human rogue but was repeatedly irked by having no special dialogue options and having a noble origin so I gave up on that char.

I considered Qunari, but they have the opposite problem to elves. They're giant hulking meat trucks whose heads are forever clipping through armour and clothing collars in cut scenes.

They need to take about 50lbs off the Qunari and give it to the Elves.

I just saw fun pictures scattered around the forum about that but no one complained about it, do you've some pictures ?

I would like to report it to modders at least on their forums

They could probably take that much just from the Qunari's neck and hands  It would also double the size of the male elves lol

Please don't shoot the messenger but I took the time to actually read the EULA for Origin and DA:I (as opposed to just skimming it for the privacy disclaimers) and it really cleared up some questions for me. Specifically noteworthy is Section 8 in which EA says we use their software at our own risk and they have no obligation provide a game that runs. I'm paraphrasing, obviously, but I thought it was interesting and provided some insight into the disconnect between some purchasers and EA.

Truly, if you haven't done so, read the EULA. It might make you even more furious than you already are but you'll gain additional knowledge.

So really, EA is exercising negligence on the matter. While it irks me to be disparaging towards Bioware (despite their atrocious lack of communication and PR handling at present), I have absolutely no qualms in calling out EA as the filthy, consumerist wankstains that they are.

Okay...I got a bit passionate there.

A lot of businesses have got this sort of red-tape in place, even the place I work for much to my ethical chagrin. Since this is part of EA's EULA, then it quite clearly needs to be changed (as a result of the community backlash over a majority of all the games they've released in recent times). They're doing themselves no favours.
As for Bioware, well, my issues with the way they're handling public relations at present still stand. They can't legitimately claim that they care about and listen to their fanbase while treating them with ignorance.
Ugh I'm sounding impassioned again and chances are I don't know what I'm talking about...I'm just rather annoyed is all.

Also, thank you for sharing this, hwlrmnky  :)

That's standard EULA language for pretty much any game. There's nothing shocking or noteworthy about it. The EULA is there to cover the company's legal asses should the game manage to inexplicably set your PC on fire. You'll find the same or similar language in the EULA of pretty much any game that has a EULA as well as quite a bit of software.

Its not unique to EA at all.

Even if it's a common rule to Eula, it's still awfull.

It needn't be unique (or shocking) to help explain why the most common company response to complaint is silence. I'm sure it's not the only component in the legal machine driving interactions here but I found it interesting how comprehensive the lack of warranty is.

Its a common legal rule for practically any product. Good ol' buyer beware. This is why products always explicitly outline the terms of warranty in that little piece of paper in the box you never read. It outlines what the manufacturer is and is not obligated to do. Its to cover the manufacturer's legal ass from lawsuits ( frivolousness and otherwise ) and legal liability.

As for the game's industry; Without EULA's the entire industry would have been sued out of existence years ago. That's not even reflective of the product quality either. No matter how good or bad a game is there would be someone(s) somewhere willing or looking for an opportunity to sue.

If you're selling a product in a country where people sue McDonalds for not warning them that coffee is hot you need to cover your legal liability ass as much as possible. >.>

Company response is a matter of corporate culture, PR, validity and volume of complaints, etc. The blunt, brutal truth of the matter is that 9 times out of 10 even if a game's forum seems rife with complaints the people posting are only an incredibly small minority of the people actually playing the game. People don't go out of their way to come to a game forum to post that everything is okay, thanks. So when you come to the forums to complain and it seems full of complaints its just feeding your own confirmation bias.

On top of that there's the nebulous minefield of being part of the company and saying anything to the public. As one Bioware dev already explained. You just really can't say anything because someone somewhere will twist it and/or use it against you later if the future doesn't turn out exactly as you predicted. This is why major companies often have this layer of silence and only an appointed handful of people that are allowed speak with the public at all. Because everything they say has to be vetted 10 times over to make sure it can't be used against them at a later date.

Because, seriously, the Internet is a terrible place full of terrible, angry, loud people just looking for something to go ape **** over. Then right behind them are a gleeful pack of gremlins just waiting for the first group to go ape **** so they can troll them. >.>

You're welcome! And thank you for not shooting me.

I've been all over these forums in the last month reading about game issues whether they affect me directly or not. The common denominator in all threads is the question, "why isn't BioWare communicating with us?" In the PC concerns thread several days ago I mentioned I thought it was because EA wants to keep the discovery period in any lawsuit as brief as possible so it's less expensive to get a case dismissed. I still believe that.

It wasn't until a couple of days ago that I reviewed the EULA its entirety and realized that when forum users who've played the game ask for explanations from EA's perspective they've already been told not to expect them.

As has already been covered in the PC Community Concerns thread, a EULA isn't law. It is, however, a message from the company. I thought that was food for thought, if I may indulge in a cliché.

If you have a fond history with BioWare I can see how all this would be depressing. Or irritating. Or something else that doesn't feel good.

You know, I actually agree with your entire statement. Pretty much. My nuances on the last paragraph would be different.

Regardless, I'm not buying anymore of their games without waiting and seeing how fans like it. Now...back to downloading some awesome mods and then replaying DA2 and DAO.

Ditto.

And I've got my Zevran  (just after Lothering thanks to ZevranASAP) in my DAO replay and I have to say-it has DAI beat hands down in all regards bar the graphics. The story is 100% better, the companion interaction is 100% better and the companions themselves are better too. Oh Alistair you giant dope, how could I forget how much fun you wee to have tagging along? :) And Morrigan, you heartless wench! lol!

I am so  incredibly disappointed in DAI because I really wanted to enjoy playing an elf with those gorgeous graphics and instead got  to shriek in horror at a malformed stick insect before fleeing back to the front screen. Even my human has some weird thing going on in game with his  skin tone, looks  like a male version  of Barbie's super tanned friend Skipper at times. Anyway, once I get over the bitter taste this whole experience has left in my mouth, I'll get back  to DAI and finish the game.

Hopefully there will be a in game face tweak by then, and maybe even a modded elf, because it's seriously going to be a good long while.

But I will never forget the slap in the face from Bioware  that is the mutant elf. We were promised decent models and got utter eye  rape instead. Even if future games get rave reviews I will wait til they are in bargain bins before I buy them, if I bother at all.

No, it's japanese :) it's saying "baka yaro!" which basically means "freaking idiot!".

On-topic, this bug is the worst and I have put the game on-hold for now in the hopes of a future patch.

Gotta say, I keep thinking about restarting my elf...but I can't seem to bring myself to load up DAI. On a side note, there are some awesome texture mods to upgrade DA2 a little. I think I'm going to replay it. I miss Hawke and Fenris.

For now I'm keeping an eye on the forum for patches, and the Modding community. I was reading their topic, and wow...modding is so complicated...and this is for me, who's learning programming! Those people are gods. I respect them all for their dedication. I know they'll overcome frostbite.

Also, I found the most amazing band on youtube with two Dragon Age songs they wrote...amazing. You guys should watch them.

Miracle of Sound is the band. Here's the Dragon Age Inquisition song - All As One

(be warned, this video contains cameo character spoilers and glimpses of later events in the game. But only in the video, not the song)

https://www.youtube....h?v=3MVqdYcbDp8

And here's their Dragon Age 2 song - Age of the Dragon

https://www.youtube....h?v=lChS4ZJtTXQ

(hey, remember the arishok fight in the trailer? Yeah...awesome right? Just like my experience in DA2 as mage, running around in circles screaming for mercy-...oh wait. :P)

Frickin amazing. They've done songs dedicated to Skyrim, Mass Effect, Dark Souls, etc. Even did one Skyrim one with Malukah, if you are familiar with her.
