I have vid of the incredible sinking arm on the walk into VR! Hand goes right into hip and disappears. lol! WTF?

 

Where do I upload such things? Youtube? Somewhere else? Do we even need it uploaded and posted?

 

Man, this shadowplay is awesome now I have activated it- didn't even know it was possible until the other day lol! DAO and several modded Zevran scenes are definitely on my to do list! And ME too, my Shep was with Kaiden from ME1 (he calls him man, not ma'am, alright lol) and that scene in the 2nd one at Haven.. what a heartbreaker. Sigh.

I'm working on an elven mage for fashion exploration purposes. Thought I am also somewhat tempted to make the rarest of rare white elk: The 2H warrior elf..

 

I haven't actually finished the game yet though so I should probably stop alting already. Or...elfting or whatever it is I'm doing.

I was going to make a 2H warrior, a Fenris lookalike in fact, though I find the white hair texture in the game really annoying to look at. But it was dull enough as a human, and I figured I'd see if I could finally play as an elf rogue. Glad I did it now because I'm enjoying myself immensely, even if I am restricted to Archer for a bit.   I'd be interested to see what armours you got!

 

Had my Solas chat, he's a cranky toad really, isn't he? I've been totally spoilered as to his reasons though, so I kind of get where his coming from. It's much more interesting being an elf and seeing this side of him than it was when I was human.

 

Still ditching him when I get Dorian though lol!

 

As for Dozza, when he and my human were about to get their smooch on, Dorian's pick up line was that Darrik was "rather strapping". Now, please, somebody tell me that he won't use that line on Falandriel, because well...he really isn't even slightly strapping, is he? Their must be an elf specific come on line, please?

Mage armours are pretty bad thus far on elf. But frankly they were kinda bad on human too. The base ones are just kinda ass all around me thinks. Though similar to the medium armour I can mitigate the arm problem a bit by using the armoured style arm upgrades. Light armours have a Mail upgrade too and its similar to the rogue one in the shoulders. But so far it really seems like light armours suck the arms in more noticably than medium armours did. Its kinda weird. Both the apprentice coat and apprentice mail look pretty bad. Hvan't gotten enough schematics for the enchanter coat to play around with it yet.

 

All else fails I'll remove the class restriction on medium armour and wear that and/or beeline to the Dalish camp for light armour. >.>

See, I'd like to use cheat engine but for the life of me I can't work it out! I went so far as to download it, but my AV threw a hissy fit and wouldn't install it. I know I just have to turn it off and do the install but I'd like to know I was going to be able to use it once I went to the bother. I've seen the video on the site and frankly- made it seem way more complicated than I originally thought it would be.

 

So. Since you're using it Tielis, can you please answer this question for me? How do I know what line of code to fiddle with like they do in the video? Is there a list? It looks so confusing!

 

But I'd really love to be able to at least keep my armour on inside, because I love my Falandriel in his mercenary coat...all normal shouldered and strong looking! I'm actually enjoying the game...going to head home to Haven and chat to Solas soon, Xhaiden!

Luna, its really not hard. Follow the exact instructions on the download page, and you'll nail it. As for the toggling of armor in skyhold, its a simple box you click.

I am on a female elf sword and shield game right now. I am enjoying all the elven lore and stuff but I'd much prefer to play male. Waiting for them to fix this is killing me...

Okay, thanks for the link to the list but...there's no way my brain get get around that lol! BUT! I did manage to tick the box for the jim jams toggle! Woot! Falandriel is in his shoulder giving ranger gear at the war table now! Woot!

The sinking arms are still horrible though. As is the fact I am stuck in the mercenary coat. Really, I get that statistically only 9% allegedly play male elves, BUT...they took the same amount of money from us, right? So we should be treated equally rather than as second class customers.

Follow the instructions on this post, and then watch the tutorial video.  To get all the Dalish armor in Haven, I used the shop editor to give myself the schematics and then made the armor.

I think it's the same problem.  I only call it the "conversation pose" because that's where it shows up the most.  If you can come up with a better name I'll use it!

And ha. I was reading Conversation as Conversion.   No wonder I was confused by her sig.

 

 

So...cheat engine lets me wear armor in Skyhold and war table. A lovely person named Ottimus has said she/he'll put up their dragon age 2 tattoo textures for downloading. Now I just need the gluey arms to stop, and I could enjoy this game properly.

 

(ignoring the bugs...like certain npcs not loading so I can turn in quests, and that one bug where I the Character Record is perma locked...forcing me to be unable to put level up points into skills... )

Oh my god...this particular bug is driving me nuts. Even more nuts then the broken arm elves, if you can believe that. When I click on the npc and I'm close enough, activate the stupid dialogue, game!!

 

 

...and then the game crashes with no warning......................HOW THE HECK DID THIS GET SUCH GREAT REVIEWS!?!?

Which bug is that? Is it the mother Giselle/Dorian letter one?

 

I tried to get the Dalish schematics using CE but the values won't populate for me...so I am stuck in the mercenary coat- level 6 now so things are starting to be problematic. I have learned to stealth and bolt with style though lol! And founf God mode on CE when things were squicky in Redcliffe Castle- I think I might have rushed into getting Dorian a tad soon. Need Better Armour! Will try to wrestle with cheat engine again...

 

Seriously though, it simply isn't good enough. How the hell this game got GOTY I'll never know, unless of course there was greasing of palms involved.

 

What is with all the race gated armours anyway? And OMG! why do the rogue suits...unarmour-like? All I want for 2015 (apart from an elf whose armes don't get sucked into his ribcage) is some adventurer armour. But even if I sort the class restriction, it is bloody human trained only. FFS Sera can wear it...Oh that's right she has a normal body. FFS- there is an armourer in Haven and Skyhold people, pretty sure there up to the task of making gear to order. There is no in game reason that makes this decision remotely plausible, the only reason they've done it is because they figure most people play human so screw the rest of us.

 

The more I play, the more I believe that they shoehorned races into a human only game are the last minute when someone remembered the flak they got racegating us all in DAII. Honestly, this game could have been awesome, but it's not. It is head deskingly frustrating though.

No, its just a random bug that affects any npc with dialogue. Sometimes I have to click 10 times on the character to get it to initiate. Combine that with NPCs/Companions that won't load into the scene..and these random crashing to desktop during Hushed Whispers quest...and I'm getting annoyed.

Haven't found a schematic for it yet, but there's a freebie rare version of it in Exalted Plains and the Dalish there sell a Legendary version of it too. When you get to the Exalted Plains, go to the Dalish camp and talk to them all till one mentions her missing brother. Go find him, go back to her, and it will unlock a quest to find some elven ruins. You'll find the robe my Solas is wearing there in a chest behind an energy barrier.

<shrug> There are race specific armours for every race. Human ones just show up a bit faster ( if you can afford them in Val Royeux anyway ). Its pretty easy to get dwarf Carta armour quick too ( there's some in the Hinterlands ). It wasn't done because they figure most people play human. It was done for aesthetic flavour. Also, Sera can wear human trained armour but ironically can NOT wear elf trained armour. She doesn't like anything too elfy remember.

 

Altering armour to fit anyone would be all well and done save the fact the race specific ones tend to carry race specific connotations like Legion of the Dead armour, Dalish armour or Qunari facepaint ( which would kill you if you wore it anyway ). I'm pretty sure the Dalish would put an arrow in you at 50 paces if you showed up at their camp as a shem dressed in Dalish hunter armour. >.>

 

If you want armoured rogue armour then get the "Mail" versions. You can also add armoured bits to the leather versions by adding Mail arms or legs to them. I even showed the Mail version in screenshots a couple pages back. Otherwise rogue armour is traditionally leather. Because metal clanking and stealth don't generally go well together.

Yeah, the inability to delve schematics is a real problem

 

Vivi is an interesting character. Not a likable one exactly but an interesting one. Its a testament to her writing that I have legitimate reasons why I do not like or trust her. On the other if you want to drive Vivi nuts, put her in party with Sera. If you want to aggravate Vivi, put her in party with Solas. Solas gets hilariously catty around her.

The racegate thing matters when the only rogue specific armour my elf can wear removes any semblance of shoulder from him and I need to upgrade but can't find any higher stat mercenary coats.

 

It's not the material the armour is created from - I'm an old historical re-enactor so I know all about armour materials and construction (made lots and even apprenticed to a modern day swordsmith and armourer back in the day and have fought sword and shield, an DW rapier and dagger myself  ;P). I'm well aware that rogue armour would be leather, boiled at most. But it would not be a freaking double breasted topcoat.

 

I don't want plate or even metal scale. I want armour that looks like my character is a fighter on a trek, not heading off to a soiree for a bit of toff nosh and champers.I loath the mail version I have shoved on my human equally because it is equally ridiculous since he looks like an infantryman rather than lone wolf sneak . A nice leather scale setup like the roman influenced ones in DAO would have been great. But instead my elf has to look like a shoulderless Ebenzer Scrooge because I can't shove him in the nice leather adventurer set which is functional and role appropriate because he's an elf and I can't get Dalish until I find it ten or more hours into the game. And I'm only hopeful it would give him shoulders at this point!

 

The thing of it is, if the model wasn't so ridiculously ill proportioned and broken, I'd probably shrug my shoulders and put him in the mail and get on with it like I did with my human. But I can't stand looking at him without shoulders, so I am restricted to mercenary coat...

 

I cannot think of a single rational reason for leaving the shoulders the way they look in the rogue armour. Except for the obvious one- narrow shoulders are acceptable on a female (and don't the girls look snazzy in the rogue gear!) and they figured the 9% who paid full price to play a male elf weren't worth the extra time and money to get the model right for. Cheers, Bioware, I'll remember this for Every. Single. Future. Game. you put out- and I won't buy it until it is dirt cheap, if I bother at all.

 

No news, no more patches (for any of the bugs) and we are six weeks past launch.

Yes...interesting...but a real selfish ****. But now I want to take Vivienne out with Sera and Solas simply so they can torment her.

 

Ugh...I forgot how much the companion talk after choosing to free the mages can grate on ya. Thank you Blackwall, Leliana, and Cassandra for being NICE to me about it. Meanwhile, even Dorian is lecturing me.

If I had it my way, the circles would be a haven/sanctuary for mages to live, study, and practice their art. They would be in control of themselves, not under Templar or Chantry control. And they would not be ripped away from their families, or denied the chance to have a family. I wholly agree with Andraste's chant of 'magic should serve man, not control them'. From my experiences in the da games, mages have only lost themselves to demons under two circumstances...in desperate attempt to survive under cruel pressure and imprisonment, and in youth if they are untrained and trained improperly.

Is it so bad to want and hope for a beautiful future for both mages and elves? Is it so bad to believe that the southern mages could take this second chance, prove themselves, and not lead to another Imperium?

 

My inner idealist wants to sulk in a corner right now..............preferably with a couple plushies and my Red Hart mount.

Don't make Allistar king. Let him stay a Grey Warden. Then he takes Stroud's place later on and Allistar actually still retains some of his sense of humour.

 

Also, someone will always lecture you regardless of choice really. Though its kind of funny who that is sometimes. Like Leiliana is upset if you ally with the Templars. But Cullen is upset if you disband them. I thought that was a tad interesting. I disbanded them. I'm much more afraid of Leiliana than Cullen. ;p
