It takes an unusual amount of time to fix the basic things-----for them. What will it be the next week, 12-13th week? Now, even if I wanted to play as human I would have problems with banter.

I'm seriously so mentally messed up over it that I've finally decided that when I do start over, I'm avoiding Elf altogether. I'll settle for Qunari or Human. I'm just too butt hurt to even look at or worry about it anymore, fixed or not. Probably a good idea for me to mix up what race I play in each title anyway :P

Don't worry they will announce the next DA and promise us there that we will get even better elvhes! I'm afraid to even think about what will crawl from under their fingers.

I can't give to much info because its sort of a spoiler in the later part of the game. But basically...if you really care about things(or someone) being the way they were in the...past...per say....these tattoos are really necessary.

Ah, you mean the possibility of recreating a certain character?

It does not bother me that elvhes are of smaller bodies, but while looking at Solas I have drawn a conclusion that BioWare has noticed that whole male elf body is a mistake and they have widened him by making his clothes. Broken-glued arms are of course the biggest problem, but yes, male elvhes should get bigger; wider for sure.

its not the arms its the head bow movement during convos as if they are talking to royalty which annoys me more, but I love my quizzy and wont change it

Not my character, but that's what they all look like when I make a male elf. It's really turned me off from the game, and outside of cutscenes it basically looks like the shoulders are embedded in the chest cavity.

Same there is some real issues with the male elf. He keeps clipping into his own body and when closing a fade rift, his right arm looking like it's breaking backwards.

I quickly loaded up the game and snapped a screencap, and this is what the elf looks like to start:

So (at least to me) not all elves are created with disjointed arms!  But it does seem like some combinations of armors can cause this.

The problem isn't in regular play, but in conversations. My male elf looks like his arms keep trying to clip into his body with any armor and when closing fade rifts his right arm looks like it's breaking backwards...it's really off putting. The female elf doesn't seem to have this issue at all.

I've thought this many times, that if we could keep the model looking that way even after Skyhold's jammies become a part of the game the entire issue might not be so profound.  I've already said it, that I appreciate the elven frame being slender as all heck because -- hello! -- they're elves and elves are supposed to be slighter than the other races.

But those arms and the way they hang next to the body can be ... off-putting.  To me, it looks like the arms of the male elf are broken things, like they're twisted wrong along the upper part of the arm.  It makes them hang too close to the body, like the elf is cringing in pain somehow.  And Solas has the same problem, too, btw.  It tends to get weird, when it's my guy and Solas standing together in a dialogue scene.  I'm sitting there, thinking, "Oh, no.  Now they BOTH have broken arms, eeek!"

Some examples, maybe:

It only becomes even more obvious when my guy's relaxing in his jammies, actually.  I did mod my game slightly, to give the jammies a different "look" and he does look slightly better.  But barely.

I still have no real issue with the slenderness of the male elf's frame, though!  I really, really don't want any changes made to the overall character build, because I like my lean, slight guy, who still manages somehow to utterly annihilate the bad guys with a hard shield and thick hatchet-shaped axe.  I think it's rather poetic, somehow.

Check out the body type 1 build for male characters in SWTOR, perhaps.  Those guys are skinny as heck, mind you!  With similar issues in regards the head proportion up against the rest of the body.  But their arms are still shaped properly, and given the proper chance the character ends up looking decent enough:

If they made the shoulders 25-30% wider, fixed the broken arms, and flattened out those man boobs (I know they just scaled down and morphed the human body, but the human body is muscular and would have defined pecs. The elf is slender and wouldn't, they are disproportionate and that's why they look like boobs) I think the male elves would look great.

I only have real issues with the broken-arms-thing.  I honestly like the overall build of my elven character, like that he's so much dang slighter than the other races.  I wanted my elf guy to look ... elfy, I guess.  And other than the problem with his arms looking busted or twisted wrong, he looks amazing, if you ask me.  Even when he's in his unmodded jammies, no less.  Maybe it's personal preference...?

Although, like I said, I've played overly slight characters in other games, too.  I can RP up a good explanation for it every time, lol.

It's not the thin-ness that bothers me (in fact, I think his arms could be even thinner than they are) it's the shoulder-to-head size ratio, the broken arms, and the out of place boobs. I think when my elfquisitors were wearing armor with shoulder pauldrons that hid the arm issue as well as widened the shoulders they looked great. It also seemed to hide the moobs so yay ^_^

Hehe, I managed well on the whole head-to-body ratio, I think.  Took a lot of work, though, I'll admit.  I think I went through a good three or four run-throughs of the prologue before finding an elfy dude I really, really liked.  But maybe the sheer effort involved made me appreciate him more once I reached that point:

Again, my issue isn't with the body build. And I still don't see this so called boobs. Its the broken rigging of the arms during conversations that ruins the whole thing for me.

They just have defined "pecs" when there aren't beefy muscles anywhere else so it comes off looking like out of place boobs to some (like me).

From my last (and final - will go human from now on) attempt at tolerating an elf character. Next to Solas, rather than two fellow adventurers it looks like a father and his 13-year old boy.

I wish I could get the mods to work. I tried to install one, thought it was installed, but there's no change to my elf's garments. Oh well.

What made me re-roll was his over-sized head compared to the body.

You need to follow all the instructions in regards to using the Mod Manager in order to create a merged update folder with your chosen mods.

lol. You are so right. Now I can't unsee it.

Solas: Look, son. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.

PC: Everything the light touches... But what about that shadowy place?

Solas: Give it a few more hours.

I still see folks that dislike the skyhold outfit and just like to help if you didn't already know, that you can keep your armor on in skyhold or cutscenes which forces your character into the skyhold outfit by using cheat engine. You will not get banned so as long as you're not using it for multiplayer, it also helps to hide that skinny Elf frame for those who don't fancy that. It does not however, stop the arms from gluing to the sides :/

Guys.. my honest opinion is that I think they will never fix the arms at all, it has been too long already and no solid answer/reply. At the moment, I've stopped my playthrough. Reason being because the story is so short, side quests almosts non-existent and the exploring has become a chore that I went to play skyrim instead. Its hard to believe when I look at my DAI save file and it says over 214 hours played, when it all felt like only 50hrs. Because out of the 214hrs I spent 164 running around and collecting trash to sell, and read "books" you find in the game. I expected more side quests with interesting stories, events and characters, but I guess I let my imagination run wild prior the release of DAI. I kinda feel stupid for being over-hyped because the first few trailers and gameplay of DAI is actually what got me interested in the entire Dragon age franchise and eventually made me buy DAO, DA2, all books and comics. I thought that DAI would have a ton of great quests and gameplay to be had aside from the main storyline, but it turns out that as soon as you become the Inquisitor, your journey is already 60% done. So, thats just a heads up for my fellow Lavellans who are over-hyped as well. Don't get dissapointed twice xD I'll resume my game when a story dlc is released, and I hope the cheat engine helps!

Solas looks manly. PC looks well, definately under 12 years of age. I guess that long sleep actually builds your muscles up. I have no other explanation. Solas body(that is special shirt wideness- I have found almost the same one in my wardrobe -  2000-2003 fashion) should be a base for male elf. His back looks formidable, wide shoulders fit well built thighs. Male elvhes are disgusting in their current form.

Yeah, Solas looks like what our Dalish elf should look like. Our Dalish elf looks like what a City Elf ought to look like. And I to have pretty much given up.

In fact, its funny you mentioned it, Knotsofwonder. I also went back to playing Skyrim myself.

Got a lovely modded Bosmir elf who will some day rule the world.

I think the only hope left with this game is through modding, which is why I continue to watch the modding progress so far. And yeah, once you become the Inquisitor, the story and everything else pretty much feels like just tieing up loose ends. In DAO, becoming the Warden was the start of a great adventure. In DA2, being Champion was the culmination of all your efforts for the city. In DAI, it feels like an afterthought. Hey, you were already sort of the leader anyway, now hold up this big sword you'll never see again. That's right...yeah...just like that......

I don't know. They fixed being stuck in one town and being forced to play human, but in exchange they lost the rest. By trying to make the game more like an elder scrolls game or an mmo, they lost what made DA a great series. Even ME3, despite its lousy last ten minutes of story, was an amazing game till the end.

I avoided the hype for DAI as to keep from being disappointed, and I still ended up disappointed. I guess I'll avoid hype for DA4 if it happens AND avoid pre-ordering. I'll just get it only if the fans praise it.
