Here's the one I was talking about, Mihris:

Don't get me wrong - I love the Sentinel elves and hope to encounter them again, and I even like the face models and drool over their armor, but the baldness lends itself to comparisons:

Did humans really colonize Thedas from Outer Space, or was it the elves????
I prefer Tolkien-type elves or aos sí (the Fair Folk) to those of DA or ES. But since we have to stick with the lore in DA, my preference would be for elves with slim bodies (but not spidery!), finer features than humans, larger eyes of unusual hues, and of course the ears. I didn't like the DA2 elves at all, although some players are avid fans. So for male elves, slim or lean, but not scrawny. I guess I would prefer hairlessness to bad hair. But if good hair were an option, I would expect elves to have hair on their heads. The sentinels look stereotypically alien. All they'd have to do is make them green.
I'm not a fan of the "Greek Profile" they've been using since DA2, nor the elves with the completely squashed bridges (that one by the cave in the Hinterlands). Some of the elves in DAI more closely resemble my personal vision, such as Charter, Leliana's spy in Caer Bronach.
In my pictures of the elf body morphs, I think the muscular one doesn't look good. It's too bulky and resembles a human (see: male Hawke's ridiculously muscular biceps!). The standard and lean bodies are still slim, but have graceful proportions lacking in the original model.
It would be lovely if players had a choice of body types or could at least set some of the proportions for their own character.
I never liked DA2 elves. The "greek profile" doesn't even look right, if that's what they were trying to emulate.
Now in DAI elves are suddenly bald
Don't like this either. Although Abelas looks great, I hope he is not bald under that hood... Sentinal elves are fine, just give them some hair ![]()
Bioware insists on making elves... something, I don't even know
If they are trying to be original, they could have invented some new race, and make it look however they wanted.
I think DAO elves were perfect.
Also that Mihris picture
True elven beauty!

Ikr? I think something terrible must have happened to her - botched plastic surgery? A fight with a large Qunari? I'm afraid I didn't read The Masked Empire yet. If ever someone needed a mask...
Unkind of me.
But I did steal her necklace after all.
Tolkien elves for me also. Although I do love Abelas, and Zevran in DAO.

IT IS SOMETHING

ENJOY!
Thank you. I might be able to start this wretched game now. Pathetic bioware, amateurs.

No!
Tolkien elves were not a pretty, slim boys. They were tall, muscular and incredibly strong.
Pretty elves are a disaster propagated by DnD, followed by Jackson's rendition of Tolkien's art.

Hey now, look at my dude! He's got some pretty nice muscular shoulders on him. He's a Guardian wearing heavy armor.
That screenshot is from LOTRO, and while I think those character models need a bit of updating, they are pretty darn perfect for male elves.

There's no reason one can't be both pretty and strong. Distraction is a marvelous weapon.

He looks like a girl.with a wide face.

Tolkien did not create pretty'boys but masculine manly men' best friends. This is further reinforced by Tolkien's son(or grandson, don't remember which one) who harshly commented appearance of elves in the movies by referring to father(grandfather)'s opinion.

Fine, forget Tolkien. Since I was asked my personal opinion, then I revise it to say that I prefer the daoine sídhe or Tuatha de Danann as a model for elves:

Try as I may, I cannot see a girl's face there. I see an unbearded young man, very young perhaps. To each his or her own.
Tolkien's elves were immortal, based on immortal fae folk from both Irish and Scandinavian myths, as Serilir pointed out. Tolkien was also inspired by the stories of William Morris and illustrations by Arthur Rackham. Youth is often tied to immortality, because who would want to be eternally an old or even middle-aged person?
In any case, we're off the topic again. The modders have fixed the elven boy-bodies, but the broken arms remain. ![]()
Fine, forget Tolkien. Since I was asked my personal opinion, then I revise it to say that I prefer the daoine sídhe or Tuatha de Danann as a model for elves:
"In The Colloquy with the Ancients, as St. Patrick and Caeilte are talking with one another, 'a lone woman robed in mantle of green, a smock of soft silk being next her skin, and on her forehead a glittering plate of yellow gold,' came to them; and when Patrick asked from whence she came, she replied: 'Out of uaimh Chruachna, or "the cave of Cruachan".' Caeilte then asked: 'Woman, my soul, who art thou?' 'I am Scothniamh or "Flower-lustre", daughter of the Daghda's son Bodhb derg.' Caeilte proceeded: 'And what started thee hither?' 'To require of thee my marriage-gift, because once upon a time thou promisedst me such.' And as they parleyed Patrick broke in with: 'It is a wonder to us how we see you two: the girl young and invested with all comeliness; but thou Caeilte, a withered ancient, bent in the back and dingily grown grey.' 'Which is no wonder at all,' said Caeilte, 'for no people of one generation or of one time are we: she is of the Tuatha Dé Danann, who are unfading and whose duration is perennial. I am of the sons of Milesius, that are perishable and fade away.'"and"Thus, one day King Muirchertach came forth to hunt on the border of the Brugh, and his companions left him alone on his hunting-mound. 'He had not been there long when he saw a solitary damsel beautifully formed, fair-haired, bright-skinned, with a green mantle about her sitting near him on the turfen mound; and it seemed to him that of womankind he had never beheld her equal in beauty and refinement.'"and"This ancient legend [the tale of Aedh, son of Eochaid Lethderg son of 'the King of Leinster] shows clearly that the Tuatha De Danann, or Sidhe, in the time when the scribe wrote the Colloquy were thought of in the same way as now, as able to take beautiful mortals whom they loved, and able to confer upon them fairy immortality."- The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries, by W.Y. Evans-Wentz
I don't question existence of pretty boy elves in the literature nor that some people find them attractive. I simply say that pretty male elves have nothing to do with Tolkien.

I don't see a young boy no matter how long I look at it. I see a masculine woman in her late 20. I can imagine great many men wanting to be eternally 35-45. We usually become better looking as we get older, not to mention it is around our physical prime.
Tolkien went far away from the 'base'.
Anyway, I don't have problems with gorgeous elven females as long as males stay sturdy as hairy, wrinkled leather bag put on morgenstern.
Oh so arms are still broken. I will wait some more.
Personally, I like Elves that look lean and strong without looking too young. I believe The Witcher 3's Aen Elle is how I like my Elves. That being said, I find it difficult to accept that Elves have no body hair. Sparse body hair ? Sure. But no body hair ? What about chafing and body heat management ?

Yeah, I would also go with sparse body hair, as no body hair is too pedophilic for me. And there are humans who do not grow beards, so I can definitely see that. Only one of Tolkien's elves had a beard.
Well, just when I'm caught up in TW3 and enjoying the way my PC runs after uninstalling Origin...this comes along and curses me with a desire to try to actually finish this godsforsaken game. Because I really do think I can forgive the horrible story and endless grind if I'm running a nice looking elf around rather than a shaved spider monkey.
Which is kind of sad and makes me quite shallow really lol!
I'll likely even turn a blind eye to the bendy arms if his shoulders look like they could actually support his head and his arms like they could pick up his sword.
Does anyone know if they managed to fix the banter bug or at least have the CE fix running on the current version? What are we up to now anyway- I stopped bothering at patch 4 I think...

I don't think it makes you shallow to want to identify with and feel inspired by your character. I look elfy irl, but I'm a strong woman, and I don't have twiggy little arms that break when I put my jacket on.

It's spelled D-W-A-R-F
Lol! The shallow part comes into play because I've played enough of the game to think it's a truly awful game- and yet I will likely forgive all the awfulness if I have a hot boy elf to run around in it...that's shallow for sure lol!
I'm good with it though. ![]()

na, it is just a M-A-S-C-U-L-I-N-I-T-Y applied
I'm really sad that my male Elf's arms still aren't fixed.
It's been so long naow.
I don't think BioWare is EVER going to fix this issue. PC users can find mods to fix at least some of the problems, but for console users such as myself, we're stuck with them until BioWare decides to listen to players' complaints.I'm really sad that my male Elf's arms still aren't fixed.
It's been so long naow.
Greetings to you, kind people of these vast forums.
It has come to my attention that male elf model may suffer from narrow shoulders and arms glued to its ribs.
I could not play DA:I for more than few minutes and this is why I'm asking you for an explanation. What is exactly wrong with the male elves? What drive people' discomfort. If it is possible, then please, present me with ocular proof.

So I did try out the modded version, no less than three different attempts to start off with. I just couldn't relate to it, after all was said and done. I figure I just became accustomed to the body model, and every difference looked off or wrong. Or like, the shoulders seemed over-broad up against the narrow waist, while the version with more narrow shoulders included a dumpy-looking set of hips, etc.
I honestly think no one's ever going to be completely satisfied one way or another, lol. I removed the mod and stuck with the original character model. When they manage a spiffy mod that fixes the broken-arm thing, I'll be happy enough. How my character's shaped, though -- I still prefer it, to be honest.
I do just do not like hairy, short, squat, bulging, hulking, or otherwise towering figures. My dwarf is female and my human was for Cassandra. And I still can't get into Qunari at all. Oh well.
It became obvious to me that the game was made for male human characters soon after i tried out the other races. From the animations that are clearly tailored to human males to armor etc.Bioware didn't give the other races the same attenion and it's a slap in the face for dwarf, elf and qunari players. Now the elf tops it all with weird, broken character models and ugly body proportions.Thin as a toothpick and a bobblehead on top.I couldn't bring myself to play a elf character no mather how much i wanted to.The sunken, broken arms on the male model is something i can hardly understand. It is obvious at first sight.Absolutely terrible and lazy Bioware!
It is laziness and tons of ill will. It appears that there is no sense of 'standard' or 'ethics' in BioWare. Releasing such a horrible and broken model is beyond ridiculous

Yes, I got it, you enjoy the appearance of little boys.
In other words you don't like masculinity.
If Lord Surinen's ideal is a shining example of masculinity, then I'm with Phyreblade: bring on the girly elf men!

Yes, my ideal is 100% spineless proof masculinity, that is square jaws, big noses, small eyes and wide lips put on wide, wide shoulders adorned with a proper muscularity. I'm not surprised nor I mind you being with Phyreblade. Women aquire proper taste for men in their 30s. It has been proved that girls prefer smooth, lady like boys.
