Yes, my ideal is 100% spineless proof masculinity, that is square jaws, big noses, small eyes and wide lips put on wide, wide shoulders adorned with a proper muscularity. I'm not surprised nor I mind you being with Phyreblade. Women aquire proper taste for men in their 30s. It has been proved that girls prefer smooth, lady like boys.

LOL I'm 52 and I prefer lean cleanshaven men, but I do love me some broad shoulders.  :)

People come in all shapes and sizes.  There's a lid for every pot.

You make me laugh!  I'm 40 years-old and a veteran of the US Army, actually.  It's how I met my husband, when we were both overseas.  I have spent 20 years of my life surrounded by men of all shapes and sizes, decked out in uniforms galore and handling weapons that looked bigger and scarier than most people can possibly begin to wrap their head around; I deployed three times, mind you.  Nothing like being one of 18 females in a base camp of 800 Soldiers.  The men practically paraded themselves, lol.

Funniest thing I ever saw in my life?  Trained with this guy I swear must've been one of the models for the Qunari in Dragon Age.  He was pushing 7 feet and nearly as broad, I kid you not.  They had to take two uniforms apart to insert fabric enough to sew into a special-fitted uniform just for him, dead serious!  So the funniest thing I ever saw was that guy -- sweetest guy I ever knew -- and he panicked during NBC training and had to be dragged back into the chamber by no less than 5 non-commissioned officers.  Shoulda heard those Sergeants, all grunting and cursing and swearing up a storm!  I laughed for days!

Hottest thing I ever saw in my life?  Went up to Grafenwoehr, Germany for some weapons training with my unit during one particularly hard winter.  So there we were in the snow and muck, trailing along with convoys of various military vehicles, and this one guy climbs up into the turret of one humvee to handle the 50 Cal.  He's lean and lithe, almost skinny -- he could run the 2 miles during our PT tests in 13 minutes flat and ate like a horse, mind you -- and he's up in that turret with the machine gun blazing away and the targets just disintegrating in a long line in front of us.  Dang noise was like thunder and he's smoothly raking the field in a cloud of smelly smoke and fire and I'm standing there thinking, "Holy crap, he looks bada**."

Look, to each his own.  I figure that's why Bioware's allowed for this amazing concept called "choice", where you can make your character look like and shaped just the way you want and someone else can create a character wildly different.  Just so both people are happy enough, shrug.  Like I said, I tried the mod out and just didn't prefer it when all was said and done.  It's all good.

And weren't you insistent earlier in this thread that it was ONLY the broken-arms issue you were asking Bioware to change, when it came to the default model for male elves in DA?

It is BioWare's forum, exceptions and unique tastes are to be expected!

You should consider writing for Harlequin.

I were, and I'm still all for it. It is just you repeatedly glorifying these skinny boys, it sends shivers down my spine and causes instant reply.

I'm fairly thin myself, but not like this. This is more like I was when I was 12. If I just escaped a POW camp.

But hey!  You're right, I'd probably be rather good writing for Harlequin.  I use grammatically correct English when I write.  It's not "I were".  Rather, you should say, "I did, and I still do."  Because it's obvious I was correct the last time you addressed me and your problem with this character model is not actually confined to the broken-arms-look in various armors.

Surely you would, unlike me you are an english native speaker. Of course not, but in this thread I focus on broken-glued arms. That being said, when someone brings his or her ill fetishes for little boys appearance then I comment on it. It seems to be your favourite topic here, that is your adoration for these 12 y old looking bodies.

Obviously. These are bodies of boys before maturation. BioWare is reeeaaaalllyyyyyy 'inclusive'.

It seems to me the one who has a serious issue with the shape of male bodies, rather, is you.  I'm not the one complaining, here.  As I said, how someone wants to make their character look just doesn't bother me at all.  But if it helps you feel better, continue!  You do make me laugh!

Smooth way to evade truth, 'male' bodies. Let's be honest, these are boys bodies. I'm complaining, because as healthy minded person I do not tolerate little boys bodies adoration. You can't make character's look in DAI, you are forced to play these kids. It is one of the reasons I would never romance any companion with male elf. It is wrong. Laugh all you want, it is healthy for you.

@ Lord Surinen: you do realize that in the real world not every man is broad and masculine, right?

You don't have to be broad and masculine to look like a man. Like I said above, I'm thin myself. I veer around 180-190, but I'm 6'5". Umm.. think Jeff Goldblum or Gregory Peck. Liam Nesson is the same height as me, but he has a bulky/broad look. The Rock is the same height too, but he's pure meathead.

To me, those are male adult shapes.

I'm fully aware that there are less fortunate men. This is not about masculinity but adult male appearance, These(elves) are clearly little boys. Solas isn't the manliest man either but he is a man nontheless.

Generally speaking, yes. When I was young and skinny, I used to get called Ichabod Crane. Or "The Ethiopian" (this was when they had a hunger crisis). It wasn't a very "fortunate" time.  <_<

And grown men like this in other media at least are jokes. Like DJ Qualls (the guy from Road Trip and Garth in Supernatural). Everyone's laughing AT them. Not with them.

Anyways, I wanted to play an elf in this game pre-release. The only thing getting in the way are the artists. It's gross.

These are Elves' bodies, in a fantastical, mythical setting far removed from reality, in fact.  They're absolutely designed to look alien against the frames of Humans, Dwarves and Qunari that also inhabit the fictional universe we're referring to, so that whatever body shape or frame the player would like to consider their own personal character is there for the choosing, all the way from really hulking and huge down to short and stocky.

In simple terms, no one's forcing you to play anything.  Play whatever you want to play, play the game whatever fashion you want to play it, make your character look however you like or prefer -- it's all up to you!   It's why I'm not bothered or concerned when someone thinks the world of their character and I'm just, "Meh."  Everyone's different, has different appreciations for the styles and flavors of the game, and that's okay by me.  There is just nothing wrong with that.

This is precisely how I feel about dwarves!  I got into this huge argument here on the BSN pre-release, when I admitted that I just don't find the shape or frame of Dwarf characters that attractive.  I did make a Dwarf, and she romanced Bull.  But it seemed more a joking playthrough than anything and it wasn't my favorite.

As for the Elf characters, I was prepared for their overly skinny frame because of DA2.  My favorite romance arc in DA2 was Fenris, and his frame was grossly thin.  At least his legs, I mean.  But his story was compelling and his character itself fascinating, so I gradually became accustomed to the look and shape of the character model.  I figure that by the time Inquisition was set for release, I was just okay with the notion Elves in DA are shaped a bit strangely. To me, they "fit" the story, and I'm all right with it.

They are so very much fantastical-mythical that Solas, for advertising purpose has far better designed body. BioWare themselves know how terrible elf model is, so much that they would not dare to use it in promo materials on Solas. He looks different than humans and other lesser races, while remaining a man.

I'm playing elves and I want my elf to look normal

My elf stands right next to Solas and they look pretty much the same, in shape and body frame.  Let me see if I have a pic with them standing side by side.  Well, from the back at least:

DragonAgeInquisition%202015-04-29%2003-3

And don't misunderstand me!  There's this particular armor, at the very start of the game.  I believe it's a Mage's armor piece, a coat I think it's called.  And I swear, it's just purely awful.  Doesn't matter if your Elf is a male or female, they look like these gods-awful stick people when you put that coat on them!  Like, ewwww!  It's one of the first things I do, is run down from the chantry and buy THIS piece of armor, just to get rid of that ugly coat:

DragonAgeInquisition%202015-07-20%2013-5

But I do think the PC male Elf is shaped pretty much the same as Solas.  Those armors that make my character look "wrong" I make the drastic choice not to wear!  And then I'm okay more often than not.  I'd rather they do something about how the male Elf's arms hang on the side of the body, Solas included.  But the overall shape and frame of the character model as a whole ...?  Nope.  It's okay.

No offense, but I think you need to get your eyes checked.  And I noticed that the screenshot you posted is NOT from the back.  Straight on from the back is a totally different story.  In the modder's forum, someone had even superimposed the PC male elf over Solas' model and it is not the same.  Solas has shoulders, which may be due to the pads in his shirt, but they are nevertheless much broader.

Honestly, I don't know what you're trying to achieve in this thread about broken arms/animations.  If you're trying to get all of us to agree that the model is just fine, well, you are going to be bloviating forever.  We've all stated our preferences, and talking about yours over and over and over is just patting yourself on the back for liking what BioWare gave us.  Um... congratulations?

I was challenged, after I posted describing my feelings in regards a particular mod, Tielis.  Apparently, remarking that the mod wasn't to my preference is pretty awful an action, heh?

But to be clear: I post on this thread to offer my own personal opinions of one of the character models in this game.  Because I think there's an issue with how the arms on the model seem to hang against the side of the character's body, and I really would like to see it addressed at some point.  Without changing the overall shape and design of the character model, however.  I happen to like the utterly unique shape of these characters, mind you.  So I say so, is all.

And my eyes were only recently checked, thank you.  I see just fine enough that when two characters standing in the same picture look to be shaped pretty much the same, that's what I'll admit.

On a humorous note, I just remembered that Ash Warrior in Ostagar.

"Maker's breath! Another elf."

"Do you have a problem with elves?"

"Not in particular.... except for them being so thin-boned."

I just finished a PT with a male elf. I was holding off in the hope that the arm problem would be fixed by now, but sadly not. His arms constantly looked like they were moulding into his body.  Other than that, he looked fine when not wearing the beige pyjamas, but that outfit doesn't flatter anyone.

I think it flatters male human just fine. Kind of fits the Trevelyan codex colors (grey/gold).

I never got the Pajama thing though. It's similar to a lot noble garb in GoT: http://assets.vg247....4/lannister.jpg

As for the elf, I commend you for playing through it. I'm too obsessive about visual things for my own good. :) Maybe not just visual either. The two VAs don't click for me either on the elf.
