I don't really expect a patch today, since it is Thanksgiving and even Bioware should be home with their families. But a patch soon would be nice, specially if it includes a fix.

I guess they didn't think people would want to play a MALE elf? Anyway, I know about rigging, and its possible that since the arms are so close to the body, the rigging in the arms might be snapping to the rigging in the chest, causing this issue.

Isn't Thanksgiving USA holiday?

Then BioWare wizards should use their magick and rig it in I guess. I'm waiting with my playthrough for the patch. After all it is an RPG game, cutscenes are of paramount importance and I don't like think that I'm rubbing my ribs.

Yeah. I wasn't sure where Bioware is stationed, and to lazy to look it up at the moment. Ignore me. (I also didn't think about that till after my post) xD to my fellow usa, happy holiday to you!

I wish they'd fix it and maybe thicken up the male elf model a little more like Solas. I really miss the presence of a modding community. -_-

Solas treatment would definately heal the situation. I hope that BioWare did not forget about this thread and certain-what was it -ah yes- certain rigging adjustement will be made to prevent super glue from taking direct control.

Agreed. Because...my male Elf mage warden saved Ferelden. My (forced) human Hawke saved Kirkwall (sort of). And I want my male Elf mage Inquisitor that will save the land. (at least...for my first playthrough)

So is there any chance they're going to fix this arm issue?

Sometimes it seems Solas has the same issue, but not always for some reason. When first meeting him in the intro, his arms are a bit scrunched together. It's kind of an interesting posture actually, but it does make them look feeble.

Some of the female elves are just charming though. I love them. Maybe the same could be said for human females as well. I'm a male, but the CC options for male are shite. Their faces are either very bony or blockheadish. But that's another subject. Sorry.

I was having a hard time getting used to the female elf body, but wow the male elf body is pretty bad. I agree that Sera and Solas have the body shapes that should have been used for all the other elves. It was a poor design choice that I feared would be replicated from DA2. I understand that Bioware wanted elves to have a unique appearance from humans, but at least attempt to make the body proportioned when going for a slimmer physique. It's the upper body that really is the worst for both genders, the legs I can tolerate.

Yeah, it took some work in the CC to get my male Elf to look great. And then....I saw the body that head was attached to. And the broken arms.

And I sit there and think.....why, Bioware? Why do you put so much effort into the NPC companions, and then do this with the main character. The one who is the player's personification in this world. The bloody Inquisitor and hero! I'm a Dalish! Not a City Elf! Hell, Solas looks great and all his does is walk and sleep. (literally sleep. that man has probably spent most of his life sleeping, and he looks better then my Dalish elf)

I'd rather have the DA2 elf design then this... :(

Oh, I agree. No complaints with the lower half of the body. Its the chest, arms, shoulders, and their size compared to the head. The proportions are horrible. That's not alien or unique, that's a third grader attempting to draw/model. When I saw Solas and Sera, I had so much hope for the elf designs. And then.............this....

No word about a fix, but a Bioware employee "Allan" acknowledged the situation, he commented on another thread as well regarding this vejita's syndrome.

I noticed that too, his arms stick together in some conversations like in the vid I posted in the first page. But his character built is the ideal model for the Male Elf PCs, threads outside of Bioware's Forum are also starting their own Elven Rebellions :P

I was thinking, is it possible if bioware could simply "Import" solas' and sera's body models to the Elf PCs? Does anyone think that's possible?

Edit: Cause if they could, it would save them alot of trouble, and all of us will get what we want :)

Yes, my thoughts as well. I've been saying similar things on a number of factors.

Someone is either smoking a lot of weed over there. Or just clueless on how invested people are in their PCs (just as invested when developers create their companions).

I don't know. Because we have to take into consideration the in-game armor models. For Solas, many armors simply change the combination of colors on his body model, where they actually put unique armor on the pc.

I think, without doing a major rehaul of the elves, they could simply apply the human body to the male elf. Since many of the armors shared between human and elf maintain the human body shape and look far more decent on the pc then the ones that don't.

But at this rate, I'd PAY to have Solas's figure for my male elf. And that's sad. (or what EA wants)

Yeah.. dammit, I would too actually :/ I tweeted to Mark Darrah about the elves already. Don't know if he saw my tweet or not but he replied to several others a few hours later. There weren't much folks tweeting to him when I checked tweets to BioMarkDarrah.

Honestly, I've lost faith a while back. Specially when I heard that the BW teams were being rather rude when addressing the concerns of fans on the forums. I don't know...maybe my faith has been dieing for a while...ever since ME3 and its horrid ending. (still will only accept the indoctrination theory. true or not)

You're avatar makes me sad. It reminds me of what we really should have had for the dalish elf race in DAI. :(

Considering delay of the patch in general, it would be an excellent touch to correct male elf bugs and release it alongside the other big changes. It is as important as cutscenes stuttering. It is an rpg game, look is the thing.

It is, and I'm hoping for that too. But none of them has ensured us that this problem will be fixed, that could mean either that they are deciding whether to fix it, or are just trying to ignore the issue altogether. But I believe Bioware is kind enough to give us a reply if they did intend to create Bone-Skinny Elves with vejita's syndrome, so that those like us who are waiting for a 'fix', would stop wasting our time and give up on elves to reroll an Inquisitor with a different race and finally enjoy the game. I still have faith in Bioware even though I'm disappointed that they screwed the Male Elves over, so fingers crossed that they decide to work up on the Elf models! :)

Also, I'm actually playing Swtor at the moment. And I realised that the skinny body types looks better than what we are given for Male Elf PCs in DAI :S

*Dude NPC on the far right.

2wcqtqa.jpg
And I always thought that they were the most ridiculous models I've ever seen :x

EDIT: Swtor is also created by Bioware for those who don't know :)

I agree. It would be nice to hear whether they will fix it or not. In the far-far end I can try to rpg as human (something which I would like to avoid altogether).

Even Ubisoft has rolled their patches faster for AC:U. From what I gather, BioWare is holding their patch to make it large; there will be no excuse if they leave male elves broken.as they are. We shall see how it unfolds.

I don't mind if the patch takes a while if it includes an overhaul of the elf models. I would wait months if they promised and delivered on fixing it.

Slight rant of minor depression

Spoiler

On a side note, if you want a good example of a skinny, lithe person that looks good...check out Sherlock from the BBC series. My roommate was watching it again yesterday, and when I took a good look, I realized Benedict Cumberbatch has a great example of a small but healthy looking body frame.

I'm not so eager to wait months. I will be happy with just these 'rigging' things fixed. I do not even require bigger body, just not a broken one. I would like to get it fixed before winter holidays. 'Everybody' is enjoying their gameplay and I'm sitting, refreshing forums to learn about patch's release date.

Hmm...I think...if they fixed the rigging of the arms and allowed us the option to wear armor in Skyhold instead of those pjs, I could continue to play my elf happily. The right armor fixes the extremely skinny base model, so I can avoid it for the most part.

If not a major rehaul, at least these two fixes would be perfect and improve my gameplay x10. ^_^

They should fix it in the upcoming patch, except for the Skyhold's outfit. It has been so many days since the release.

The skyhold armor situation wouldn't be hard. Its probably just a variable, like a boolean, that is switched to signal whether a players armor shows or not in a certain area. (based on my coding knowledge)

But for now...cross my fingers that they fix the arm rigging issues.

I support it 100% . I'm a little bit tired with this patch waiting. Humans - I like only Tevinter and we don't play them in DA:I, dwarves can't be mages and qunari are well, qunari. I won't even spell them with capital letter. In the end even Tevinter  are far from my ideal- shemlen, all of them. I want an elf and I want him to be healthy. I have never broken any bone in my body (praised be Creators) and I'm not interested in the broken arms simulator.

It would be nice to receive race specific Skyhold's armours as compensation for the not so well running product. Give me elven robes and I will start to purr at the sight of BioWare logo.

Yes, race specific armor would be awesome. The current pjs look more human then something a Dalish or Qunari would wear.
