I know one thing, we should get a fix. I want to play the game I have bought the way it is supposed to be. For now, it works just great against me, as cutscene repellant. I run every time I launch the game.

lol. I'm wasting time clearing out the beginning levels in the game. Working on the Fallow Mire now.

 

I also started and got through the opening for my qunari mage and dwarfette archer. My qunari will be my second playthrough. My dwarfette will be the playthrough where I do a lot of things I didn't do in the others, like recruit the templars instead of the mages. (she's a bit more selfish as a character, coming from a strong and dangerous carta family and all). Course...I'm now sad I can't romance Verric with her. Everyone else feels so tall...

 

 

To be honest, I'm mostly scared of trying to stomach running around Skyhold in that outfit with my elf. I'm...really bothered by the large head and broken arms. And his skinny figure. I know...but I'm an artist, proportions and asthetics bug me even if I try not to let them.

That and when a certain special party member joins, I'm scared BW won't have a good reason for why he's with me and not with his lover. (because my head canon says I would never leave that certain someone behind. )

Good for you, personally I can't and I don't want to touch other races. I can complete this game 100 and 2 more times as an elf but humans, dwarves or qunari? No, big no.

 

A great many people can enjoy their gameplays, but people like me and Knots are more than less forced to wait. This thread is one of repetitive nature, but it all we can do, repeat how horrible it is to look like 'I MUST BIO BREAK BRB' during cutscenes or just in general vejita's syndrome 'PLEASE DOCTOR SET THEM'. I can stand minor hair clipping, but when whole of your character looks ridiculous then it is a NO-NO. It is especially disheartening when you can't wait to wear gear made by Mister Matt Rhodes, in all its glory and splendor.

The repetitive nature of the topic is good, I think. If we don't keep it up and fresh, it will get lost and of course they'll ignore the issue. Cause you know.........only female elves are important. No one likes male elves. lol.

I quickly loaded up the game and snapped a screencap, and this is what the elf looks like to start:

So (at least to me) not all elves are created with disjointed arms! But it does seem like some combinations of armors can cause this.

This is one of the few armors that actually hide the problem. Anything with form-fitting arms, like most rogue and mage armor and the Skyhold outfit, will make it look odd and weird and wrong.

I really don't mind that the elves look skinny, I don't mind if the head looks big (I don't think it does actually), but it's odd when you're standing in a cutscene and the elbows curve inward into the body. And yes, Solas does this too. I also had my elf try to do that fist-to-chest salute and he didn't quite manage it, moving his fist awkwardly in the air in front of him instead.

It's almost as if the shoulders are put much more inward in the animation rig than they are supposed to be on the body, and the upper arms are curving the wrong way somewhere which affects the angles on the elbows, and then all kinds of stuff start going wrong.

My elf also slouches a lot (my dwarf did also, which was totally ridiculous). Maybe I should roll a human male and see if that looks normal.

It looks only good outside of cutscenes. Please, show more screenshots, human-elf comparison would be excellent.

Cannot believe there are people in this thread trying to say this is intentional. The general appearance sure, but there is no way in bell the arms are meant to look like that. They're elves ffs, if it was intentional the game elf arms would look just as bad and yet they don't. Something has gone horribly horribly wrong. Thank god I always play female elves, roll males for qunari and dwarves both for humans.

That's just wrong in so many ways. It hurts to look at. This is what happens when a mage tries to threaten people with a sword.

I've been living with this issue for over 70 hours now.... Every cut-scene is just painful to watch, he's supposed to be a graceful Elven warrior, not some ditzy anime girl.

It's a good thing this game has such compelling and entertaining story and gameplay that is keeping me addicted, because it's one of most glitch filled games I've ever played. (PS4)

I wonder if they'll fix these issues in the next patch. What's the list so far: arms stuck to the torso in cut scenes, little/no shoulders, upper arms curving inwards, head's a little to big, body way too skinny in certain armour. Anything else?

Aside from the head and shoulders, which are probably a design choice, those three seem ripe for fixing.

I really really love the male elves, at least face-wise, but the body I feel needs help, or a bug fix or whatever.

This is my male elf in the starter gear. Here, he looks proportionate, head to chest and shoulder ratio.

Oddly enough though, in certain cutscene and outfits, his head grows bigger, or his body grows smaller, either one. Here's an example.

His shoulders are way too small here, and his arms are like noodles. It's just really jarring. Also, moobs. Wut.

I hope this is getting a fix sometime soon.

That's all based on the armor your elf is wearing. Some armor is on a human base, but shared with elves, so it thickens the elf arms. Some armor is more specific to elves, and thus reveals the truth...that the elf male body is horrendously out of proportion and unnervingly skinny at times.

If at all I'm just hoping the width of the shoulders is in fact a bug. After all, like everyone else mentioned, why does Solas look proportional and everyone else doesn't? Way to shaft the players. :/

On a side note, I frickin love the warden battlemage armor my Sevant now wears. (in my posted picture just now with the sword and clipping arm) Nice to finally upgrade from the DLC armor. (i refuse to put armor on him that doesn't thicken the arms and widen the shoulders) And that blue....ouch...lookin hot.

If I had known that armor was in the Fallow Mire, I would have tackled that area more quickly.

The larger this thread grows, the more likely Bioware will notice it and the problems/issues it presents = higher probability of getting our "cure" for our Elven Inquisitors :]

I can't say that I feel your pain. I have not started my playthrough yet, but I fully understand your reasoning behind decision you have made. Nobody should be forced to play this pile of broken bones. Male elves player got served with monstrosity.

Another fellow who is sharing our problem posted his concerns and a community manager responded, so I thought it appropriate to link this forum to him in the hopes that they'll take a look at it.
