During the week I don't get much time to play...maybe 60-90 minutes if I'm lucky. So thus far I'm still in the Hinterlands, running around getting distracted by everything! I tend to be an obsessive gamer and I like to get an area 100% finished before moving on. However I've run across some bandits that are level 8 and dragons that are level 12 and quite beyond my ability at this stage in the game...I'm still level 4. So for the most part, are there areas that I'll have to bite the bullet and bypass for now and return to later? Not just in the Hinterlands but later in the game as well?
So...Haven't Been Playing Long, But I Have a Question

Yeah it has been designed this way on purpose. They don't want people to complete a map and discard it in one sitting. They want us to come back to the maps multiple times and see how our game play causes the area to evolve.

You will most certainly have to skip some areas and return to them later, especially in the Hinterlands. ![]()
Example:
- I had 1 of 2 Fade Rifts closed in one particular area of the Hinterlands, but I could not complete the second one until I was at least level 7 because the enemies at the rift were level 12 and were simply too much for my party. Once I hit level 7 and felt confident in my group makeup, I tackled the rift and overcame it.

"They want us to come back to the maps multiple times and see how our gameplay causes the area to evolve."
Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but that suggests that the areas themselves will change as the game progresses, is that correct? Has anyone seen evidence of this? I am not asking to be "that guy" but genuinely asking because that adds a whole new layer to the experience that I had no idea was even there.
From my experience in the game, there are certainly areas which demand some effort and time leveling your character in order to overcome - and I enjoy that a great deal. But if part of that experience is coming back to overcome something, only the see that the area has changed a bit from the time I was there (meaning character interaction, plot scenarios, friends/enemies in the area - not that the landscape itself has changed) - that would be a very cool experience.

Yes but it's often subtle and honestly i think well done.

Yes, this is intentional so you will have to bite that bullet. :-p
